All the snotty nosed kids who left at 9.30 for bed and cocoa missed the musical event of 2010. Without Bathory, Heidenfest would not exist, Folk metal, viking metal wouldn't exist..listen to where it all started kids.

Well they played the whole of the 'Crack the Skye 'album from start to finish, and then encored with Iron Tusk, Circle Cysquatch,Where Strides the Behemoth, Crusher Destoyer, March of the Fire Ants,Island (not in that order)

Tue 24 Mar – Gojira

All I have to say is those who were there saw a fantastic show or power ,precision and the mastery of a modern death metal band.Gojira have a refreshingly inteligent approach to their craft, but with such power!
1 hour and 20 minutes of metal not to be forgotten.However, I couldn't write a set list, but the last 2 albums featured heavily!!

Mon 9 Mar – Amon Amarth, Obituary, Legion of the Damned, Keep of Kalessin

After a job trying to park my car in this part of London, I arrived at the venue at approx 6.30, to find NO QUEUE!! This for regular gigers in the capital is somewhat of a pleasant suprise for the Forum. However on entering the venue I realised that Keep of Kalessin were already into their set!!! Wed 26 Nov – Satyricon, The Berzerker, Zonaria

Ok so Zonaria were first up and they played a blackened death metal set with plenty of vigor and confidence for a young band. I like them.
The Bezerker were next and I must confess to not being an enormous fan, the songs all seem to merge into one for me, but they were ok and delivered a pummelling set of grindcore.
When I last saw Satyricon 2 years ago,they were playing the Islington Acadamy, a much larger venue than ULU , but this suits me fine as the intimacy here is…

Sat 26 Jul – Desecration, Korvus, Eastern Front

The evening started with a band called Brainchoke, who I knew nothing about and to be honest I am not too bothered.
Korvus hit the arts center stage next, along with help on bass from Mr David Bryan from Imperial Vengeance. Tracks from the debut album 'In the Name of Lucifer' were played, including the title track, The Bloody Romance, and Innocence Defiled, all delivered with the musical accuracy we have come to expect from Korvus, and standard track Kingdom of the Raven was the finale.

GRAND MAGUS

Iron Will has to be the best buy for a while, a very good album with a doom/folk feel to it and JB's awesome vocals. Some great guitar riffs and a nice upbeat feel about the album, and it slates Christianity too which is always a bonus!

Keep of KalessinKolossus

I downloaded this from itunes in great anticipation, but the album is yet to grip me anywhere near as Armada did.The production is ropey for my money and the songwriting is average..maybe it will grow..we'll see.

Watershed

What I like about Opeth is that you can revisit…

At last 2008 is strting to produce some good new music!
I am hotly anticipating the arrival of Watershed by Opeth and angL by Ihsahn. I have some tracks already and they are sounding great.
Keep of Kalessin also have a new release and accoring to metal cohort Yygdrasil, it's an absolute corker!
So things are loking up! I am also awaiting the arrival of the debut EP from Imperial Vengence, who are based locally but believe me, these guys are going to be big news in the underground metal world.
