Well here i am at the big 5-O. The song played was probably Say You're Wrong, that one has been coming up a lot lately. iTunes has been playing my higher rated stuff more often, plus i finally discovered half-star ratings and wrote some scripts to set them. But I have been busy and not playing as much music as i used to overall, plus last.fm still doesn't want to accept many of them! And the downtime for the service/server last week didn't help either.

so i finally made it to the next milestone.
The 40000th song was: Come To Me. It's from the Fright Night soundtrack, i'm getting ready for Halloween.

its amazing to me that i can crank through a couple hundred songs and not really notice.
And yet, i'm still not done ripping my CDs…

I finally got Dancing on the Couch off vinyl onto mp3s and it sounds so freakin good! Almost a candidate for complexity… this is, IMHO, the quintessential 'cold war spy movie' theme album, the lyrics really take me on a trip through memories of Berlin.

Also managed to snag a few songs from the Roadhouse soundtrack, by
The Jeff Healey Band; like they say in the movie, he plays pretty good for a blind white guy. Okay, actually he plays better than that, I think his guitar setup sounds a bit canadian, like Kim Mitchell's, but the southern-style blues…

Well, this time I caught it (almost). I looked up, blinked, and my playcount had just passed 25000. So I looked up my recent history and found that the song that was playing at that moment in history was: Alannah Myles - Rock This Joint!
Pretty fitting song, because that's what I've been doing, ever since I installed my new car stereo and got the iPod hooked up at work.

There's still no point to it all.

I can't believe it; I saw Rick Springfield live at the Stafford Center! I helped him walk around on armrests and a metal railing! I took a bunch of pics! I went nearly deaf and hoarse! I had a really awesome time…

I just thought I'd make a very late note about the monumental playcount of 20k that I reached sometime in July (i think). Back then it was hot, I was driving a lot, and scrobbled my butt off day in, day out. But I rarely got time to post here. So in 6 or 7 months I achieved what took me most of 2005. Then again, 2005 was before Apple's minis became a part of my life…

Why do some people focus on only one artist, while others seem to have no favorites and listen to a wide variety of music?

I just ran into a guy who had every song ever recorded by Phil Collins/Genesis, everything from early demos to the latest Tarzan stuff. That was pretty amazing, but I noticed that the rest of his music collection was crap. In contrast, my iTunes artist folders number 678; even if you take off a dozen or so due to things like movies and podcasts, I seem to have a truckload of artists. Now, how many artists…

Come undone has been haunting me lately… gets stuck in my head, I shake it off, then I wake up with it again, I leave it behind… and then it shows up again on Pandora as a suggestion for similarity to Nik Kershaw. The song has a liquid sound in the background that you have to hear in hi-fi stereo to really get into.
