hey there! i've got two Jeff Mangum tickets for the 13 and i'd be happy to swap one for a ticket for the 14.

Thanks man! We all need a bit of Odd Future in our lives.

Yeah I'd love to see Joanna Newsom live again. I saw her at the Albert Hall a few years back and she was amazing - one of the best gigs ever, mesmerising. Fingers crossed she announces some dates soon! I can't talk about Mangum's gig anymore, too jealous :)

Yep I'm sure he'll play some gigs next year but the Union Chapel is such a lovely venue! If you've never been you're in for something special :) Have you seen the line-up for his ATP? Joanna Newsom, Boredoms, The Fall and Low (amongst loads of others) are playing, as well as him. All I need is some money, and friends.

I would (almost) literally give up tickets for all my forthcoming gigs just to go to Jeff Mangum in December, so you win. Oh, super compatability by the way!

I'm still adapting to their new sound, but I think I'll eventually like the new one better than the first one. It doesn't really matter, I think they're a great band and I'll stay with them forever.

Yeah, I think The Smiths is the best band to compare them to, though their guitar play is of course very different. But it's the same depressing lyrics, mixed with uplifting music.

It's very different. if there was any joy from 'Summertime EP' left on 'The Drums' , then there's nothing left on Portamento. 'Money' is by far the sunniest track. Very depressing lyrics (about religion, heartbreak, pedophilia,...) and the music is very eighties (so no need to make Beach Boys references, which I never really understood). Some very oldskool synth driven tracks, but of course still lots of great guitar picking and hooks. The singing is much better too. I think there's only one song that I don't find interesting enough ('In the cold'). It's great to see these guys putting more depth in their songs (especially the lyrical aspect). But that's just an opinion, see for yourself when it comes out :). Oh, and that's not an illegal download. it's a legal reviewer download ;-)
