I also have basically nothing going on, haha. It's weird because I work two jobs, but neither keep me very busy at all. Have you listened to The Sensual World by Mz. Bush? It's my next favorite after Hounds of Love. Highly recommended if you haven't already been there. :) I keep hunting for Fruitopia online, and I'm pretty shocked that no one has hoarded it and put it on eBay the way people did with other weird sodas. I had no idea Americans had more than, like, two Mountain Dew flavors, as I don't drink soda except when accompanying it with alcohol, but now I'm more inclined to keep an eye out. :P

Hi! Long time, no see (comment). How are you? In addition to saying hi, I wanted to comment on your recent Kate Bush plays. I love Hounds of Love, even though it reminds me of a really awkward period in my life (ie college), "Jig of Life" in particular. Also, as a totally random aside, do you Canadians still have a soft drink called Fruitopia in your vending machines? My office mate and I got to reminiscing/talking about that stuff this summer, and Wikipedia told me Canada still has it floating around.

I actually haven't scrobbled anything in more than a week because my computador finally bit the dust last weekend. I spent a week without one, then a new one came, then I found out the last.fm software upgraded to be incompatible with my OS, so I'm working on getting everything up to speed. But school is still crazy, haha. You're done pretty soon too, right? You should seriously be as excited as humanly possible for the FlyLo show. He will not disappoint!

I definitely hear you about school being an ass kicking hassle. I have seven weeks until I finish my degree, and I am exhausted beyond the meaning of the word, not to mention extremely tired of having no time or money to do much else. I keep telling myself it's almost over, but everything sucks in the mean time. But I'm glad to see you're going to the Flying Lotus show!! My friend and I saw him here in October, and it was seriously one of the most mind blowingly excellent shows I'd attended in years. I hope you love it!

The last A+ show I attended was Earth back in November. I saw Cat Power in January and was pretty disappointed, but I haven't seen anything since, though I'm considering the Erykah Badu show at the end of the month. How have you been as of late?

I meant to ask forever ago, but did you go to Trust? The Denver show is tonight, and I'm at home hammering away at a homework assignment. Sigh.

I don't think being a super liberal hipster is a bad thing at all! I'm also of the opinion that the word 'hipster' has been overused to the point where its meaning has been distilled into basically 'young, urban person who likes music that is not on the radio'. And even that seems too specific. Oregon sounds really lovely, except that I'm pretty confused as to why their pot bill didn't pass in our elections this past Tuesday. My state passed a bill legalizing it across the board, which is pretty cool except that nothing will change until 2014. (This from a non-smoker who's just excited to see public schools' quality increase by way of pot revenue.) I'd really love to give Canada a try, but I doubt its weather would work for me, unless I'm just estimating it to be exponentially colder than it is.

I was definitely in limbo when I finished my undergrad, though this was my first choice of things to do afterward. (On the table were also options such as joining the Peace Corps, teaching English abroad, saying the hell with my education and career choices to go operate a pedicab in New York and illegally immigrating to the south of France for a summer.) If you're anywhere near any of the schools that have MLIS programs, I'd advise chatting with some of the faculty, requesting information, taking tours, etc. if you're curious, especially if you're finished with school soonish. Or you could come to the States and do it, depending on your ability to tolerate our idiotic politics and culture. Also, yeah, Transmission! I saw a meme involving that song on Facebook and promptly got it stuck in my head, so I felt the need to listen it a zillion times this week. :P

    Also, how was New Order?

Well, I'm shooting to work in academic libraries, specifically with digital content and collections, so I've taken courses relating to those subjects. Academic librarians are expected to teach and publish the way other faculty is, so I'm doing a class on library instruction next quarter, for example. Other people want to work in public libraries, some with childrens' or young adults' programming, while others want to do archival stuff like your friend is doing. My core classes have related mostly to usability, how library systems work, how to catalog, do reference work, etc. Is that more or less what you're considering doing? I actually looked at a school in Canada but the paperwork to be in the country seemed overwhelming.

re: end of the world: That's not a bad idea! / I'm in my second (of two) year of a masters program in library sciences, so this time next year I'll be a fully qualified librarian, haha. My undergrad was in history, though I often wish I had majored in English. / I was also about to comment on how I had accidentally but completely taken over your wall, but then last.fm pulled this endless scrolling crap.

Good deal. I meant to get to it last week, then told myself this week, but that probably won't happen. But I have this and a ton of other releases to look forward to, so maybe it's okay to keep putting it off. What are you studying in school?

Also, what do you think of the new Godspeed? I have a soft copy, but school isn't cutting me enough of a break for me to have listened to it in the week or so that it's been sitting on my hard drive.

That makes me want to visit Toronto! And dance / be creeped out all night every night!

I made an account on RYM but have yet to really do anything with it, so potentially against, haha. Also, the guy from Trust strikes me as a disco troll; the music is really dancey and catchy but makes me sort of nervous because I feel like it's being made under a bridge somewhere. My friend wants to go see them later this month, but I might already have too many shows on my plate to reasonably add another.

I was actually thinking of doing that over my holiday break from school and just buying each season as I get to it, but we'll see. I definitely plan on at least a second watch though, mostly because I keep picking up informative little tidbits from talking to people who are really into the show (namely you and an IRL pal). ALSO! I've been poking around on Rate Your Music, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. Is it kind of like Discogs? I'm on Discogs, but I think I'd find it more useful if I was the vinyl whore that most of its users seem to be. RYM seems like it could be useful in other ways, especially to someone who's a total sucker for any music + internet team. Do you find good stuff that way? My to-listen list is like 500 years long, so I'm a little weary of being even more swamped, haha.

I can definitely understand that. Some of the artists in my charts are laughably present because I've had this account for coming up on five years now when in reality I haven't listened to them with any regularity in literally years. I doubt I'd reset, though, as I kind of like looking at my page with a degree of nostalgia. ALSO I really enjoyed reading your list of best/favorite Wire characters, and I'm impressed that you could keep them all so straight. I'm tentatively planning to watch the series again from the beginning, especially now that I have a better grip on who's who (which admittedly took me forever).

I keep looking at the artist pages for artists we happen to have in common, and the site tells me you have way more listens than you actually do- then I noticed that you reset your scrobbles some time ago. If I may ask, why did you reset?
