boxcutter/kinnego flus 12" is on kinnego UK. looking at the cat number it's their first release. info here http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/343902-01.htm (where i ordered it) and here http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=162287 and probably other places. in case you missed it, the second acroplane.org sampler is out. there's some good stuff on there. i strongly suggest checking out the wagawaga album. even though there is a level of sameness to the album, it has some killer tracks. i think it would be a great release if it were shorter. i look forward to more of his stuff.

thanks for the heads up. i had seen that mr. funk is keeping up with his usual LP every 6 months schedule, but hadn't seen that a new boxcutter was coming. i see there's also a boxcutter/kinnego flux 12" out now. i'm trying to decide if i want to drop the cash. it's the sort of thing i wouldn't think about if it were on bleep for just a couple bucks. while we're lamenting parsons lack of LP, i'd like to add that it's been over three years since the campfire headphase. something about brothers makes bands slow about putting stuff out.

i decided to go ahead and pick up the new last step from bleep. so far i'm not sure what to think. it is well crafted, but overall it doesn't seem to stand out as much as the first one did. that's pretty much just an initial impression. repeated listening will allow me to form a better opinion one way or the other. i do really dig the first track.

i don't know why you waited so long either. it's usually my favorite snares work. i get side a of sabbath dubs stuck in my head all the damn time. it's not easy to find vinyl copies. sadly that seems to be the only legit way to pick it up. i've really been enjoying bit meddler's track "anamorph" from a few years back. too bad that guy didn't make more stuff. the vid on youtube is pretty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia3NTwyLyYw plus "bit meddler" my trump duran duran duran for clever names of electronic producers.

i downloaded the acroplane.org sampler (acp006) since it had a barry lynn track on it. this thing has several outstanding tracks that justify further investigation. also, you should at least listen to samples of the new meat beat. it has lots of some of your favorite things (bass, beats, and distortion).

re: portishead - i just got the regular (vinyl) copies third and machine gun. the tracks were in a different order on the vinyl, and i guessed that the vinyl would be the preferred format of anything geoff barrows put out. re: barry lynn's review - the sad thing is that if burial put out something else under a different name it would have reviews saying how necessary and groundbreaking it is.

in case you missed it, barry lynn's album is already out. i didn't catch that it had been released until yesterday. it was available at bestbuy.com, so i was able to make good use of a gift card (also pre-ordered the new portishead single and album ON VINYL while i was at it.)

i saw that you kept listening to the 'Maiden Voyage' album from Herbie Hancock. i went out and purchased it and it's definitely one of my faves, so props to you sir.

yeah, i'm planning a trip this year to either Brazil or Jamaica. something about the world's most dangerous places attracts me.

i just bought a new car (jeep) and also had surgery within the week. so i guess it's been filled with ups and downs. but new music is keeping me stable.

listening to pocket symphony again now. the first two tracks were great. i think the third track suffers from jarvis cocker's vocals. i just don't care for his style of singing on that track, though i guess air liked it for some reason. time will tell whether track 3 annoys me enough to skip it or if it will grow on me.

i'll have to defer an intelligent response to the new air until i've paid better attention to it. so far while listening to it in the background as i worked yesterday all i can say is that it sounds like air in a good way but occasionally the vocals seemed out of place and distracting. i'll return to the subject after i've given it a fair chance.

Black Devil Disco Club is definitely one of my favorites right now. the older previous EP is fantastic too if you haven't heard it. for some reason though, they changed their name to Black Devil Disco Club. they used to be just Black Devil and had an EP entitled Disco Club. let me know and i can send you the tunes if you'd like.

so yeah, the knife. the first couple songs i thought i could take it or leave it, but the more i listened the more i wanted to hear. right now i probably like the first one the best. i like bjork a lot, and i like everything about the knife that is similar and everything about the knife that is distinct. lasanga gets stuck in my head all the time.

i got my tino comps through a combination of ebay and amazon sellers. the toughest one is christmas breaks because it never came out on CD. i haven't transferred mine from vinyl to digital format yet, but at least i had it on the turntable for the holiday season. btw, i've never really checked out the knife. where's a good place to start?

i have their original EP that Rephlex re-issued several years ago. i really liked that because it sounded so crazy for when it was made.

i've only heard a few things from the album. i'm trying to track it down, but in my neck of the woods, i usually have to special order. he makes some awesome tunes though. right now i've been looking for that bionic ragga sound. found some remixes by The Cavemen that comes close to that.
