I don't listen to much electronic music, and that's mostly my fault. But it also doesn't help when you think all electronic music is techno and is only played in dance clubs.
When I was younger, the closest i got to electronic music was when I bought the Andy Hunter CD Exodus at a Christian bookstore and loved it. But mostly, I didn't understand it. I thought all electronic music sounded the same and I just happened to pick a more "melodic" and "musical" version.
Skip ahead about 4 years.
I was on mewithoutYou's journal page and was reading about their latest tour plans. Apparently, they were doing a few shows with Dusty Brown in California. Mike Weiss was saying how he really liked their music and their use of "operatic vocals." Being the hardcore mewithouYou fan I am, I immediately thought, "Well, if mewithoutYou likes them, they must be good!"
So I checked them out, bought their EP, and fell in love with their style. Their isn't anything too flashy about this brother and sister duo. The sister (Jessica) sings and the brother makes the music. There's nothing extremely experimental or monumental. But the thing that fastinated me was how the two are so well incorporated together. Moby is known for incorporating outside vocals into his own music (especially his album Play), but sometimes there are extra notes on the record or the lyrics seem unimportant. Dusty Brown brings electronic music and vocals together flawlessly.
