  • Was listening to my custom station...

    14 jun 2006, 23:45

    ...that includes Manic Street Preachers, Guns N' Roses, Queen, Mansun & Suede, and frankly I'm excited what will pop out.

    1. Pulp- A Little Soul
    => 3.5/5

    *Never heard this song before, andi'll admit, it's a little catchy. Found out it's from their album "This Is Hardcore". I have "His n' Hers" and i never really listened much to them, i must say.

    2. The Beatles- Can't Buy Me Love
    => 3/5

    Heard this before, I guess it's not my type of Beatles, I like their later works more.

    3. The Stone Roses - All Across The Sands
    => 3/5

    Hmm, it sounds like the inferior tracks from their debut album, there's not enough pizazz, i must say.

    4. Metallica- Prince Charming

    => 2/5

    Like they say, the album "Reload" is where it all collapsed for the metal giants. There's no hint of epicness that could be found in the first four albums. Nice guitar riffs here and there though, but nothing charming about this song. Hmm, now it reminds me of Slash's guitar-ing...

    5. Pink Floyd- A Saucerful Of Secrets

    => 3.8/5
    Mostly eerie soundscapes, with a nice drum beat and wailing guitar/s. Then minutes later, it switched to some organ playing. Guitars and the drums then enter the song again, when you can hear some vocals. A song that you would smoke weed with, I guess. Never really felt anything while listening to it.

    6. Blur -Swamp Song

    1/5

    Meh.

    7. Mansun- Cancer (Interlude)

    5/5

    I listened to this song a million and one times already, but it doesnt get old to me. One of the better tracks from Mansun's 'anti-masterpiece' Six, it overwhelms each and every track that could be found in that Radiohead album that was released in 1997...now if i can only remember it's title...
    *sarcasm*

    That's all for now, folkies.
  • My Weekly Listening

    11 jun 2006, 23:42

    From: June 4-June 11

    [Recommendations are always welcome!!]

    1.Faith No More =101

    I remember playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas a year ago and the song "Midlife Crisis" is playing at one of the in-game stations, and I did a little research, and got myself their album "Angel Dust". It's amazing how Mike Patton's voice have these different variations and how he can control it at will.

    Also, this week, i got myself another of their albums, "Album Of The Year", and even though it's inferior to "Angel Dust", there are several songs that really rock [such as "Helpless", "Mouth To Mouth" and "Collision"]

    2.Manic Street Preachers =98

    This is a definite, I always tend to listen to their magnum opus 'The Holy Bible' once in a while, along with a sprinkling of their other songs.

    3. Ciudad =72

    A Filipino indie band, I remember listening to them when i was kind of jolly about life. Not really that famous in the Philippines, [unlike Eraserheads, Rivermaya, Parokya Ni Edgar, etc.] I think they are catchy enough to warrant a listen.

    4.Eraserheads =55

    Awesomeness. Another band in which I have most [if not all] of their discography, I listened to their best album "Cutterpillow".

    5.Muse =52

    While waiting for their next album, I went back to their albums "Origin of Symmetry" and "Absolution"

    6.Anal Cunt =50

    I regret listening to this band. Utterly crappy and homophobic and atonal. *sigh*

    7. Skid Row =38

    Woohoo for guilty pleasure!! Listened to their overlooked tracks "Big Guns" and "Sweet Little Sister" from their debut album.

    8. Fear Factory =34

    Listened to them while I was feeling happy. Hehe. I Guess i got to balance it out.

    9. The Darkness =34

    Was listening to them along with Skid Row, mostly listened to their first album.

    10. Slayer =33

    Was listening to their album "Reign In Blood" in alphabetical order, for i saw it was better in that order, and i'll have to agree.

    Top Played Tracks:

    *Faith No More - Helpless

    "A garden is it's own perfect world
    Where everything has a place
    Every leaf, every stone, every speck of dirt
    But where's my place?"

    *Skid Row - Big Guns

    "She was a ballerina on a subway train
    Stiletto heels and a candy cane"

    *Eraserheads - Back2me

    "please please come back to me, let's give our love another chance."

    *Faith No More - Last Cup of Sorrow

    "So raise it up and lets propose a toast.
    To the thing that hurts you most."

    *Slayer - Angel of Death

    "Smell your death as it burns
    Deep inside of you"

    *Faith No More - RV

    " No one speaks English anymore
    Would anybody tell me if I was getting stupider?"

    *The Darkness - I Believe in a Thing Called Love

    "Ooh! Guitar!"

    *Faith No More - War Pigs

    "Satan laughing spreads his wings, Oh Lord yeah!!"

    *Faith No More - Ashes to Ashes

    "Smiling with the mouth of the ocean
    And I'll wave to you with the arms of the mountain"

    *Faith No More - Underwater Love

    "Liquid seeps into your lungs
    But your eyes look so serene"
