word, i'll long into it. as far as southern rap goes there are the classics: dj screw tapes, ugk 's ENTIRE discography, three 6 mafia's group and early solo projects (if u count that as southern) outkast's aquemini, southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, and atliens no doubt. as far as NEW classics: young jeezy trap or die 1 & 2, lil wayne dedication 1 & 2, early gucci mane, and ive been diggin big krit. he's the new voice of the south and he speaks the truh

I think Ive listened to Chihei Hatakiyama before, but another death by iPod lol. I'll check it out again. Ive just now gotten into Stephen Mathieu, but what do u recommend by Janek? Also what kinda rap do u like? My charts kinda represent what i bump mostly when it comes to rap at least

Hey there, thanks! The same goes for you, obviously :) Well, my favorite is The Ape of Naples (their last album), and I think that's a pretty good starting point. If you want to hear their earlier more industrial stuff Horse Rotorvator is the place to start. Sadly, I think you need that second job if you want to buy their stuff. Downloading is probably the way to go, most of the albums were released in limited quantities and so on.

hi! i noticed since you have a pretty large library, i would like to recommend a fairly obscure band named Kokumaromilk from japan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iC6e31JMRc, great taste by the way, man

yeah but it's really sad that colour haze had to cancel their show on a festival here in germany, otherwise they would be on this list too ;) maybe you can recommend some band/artist from japan?

The second direction might be "socially aware" or "politically engaged" soul artists of the early 70s (I put quotes around those phrases because no one in the day would use them; I am transporting the idea back into their time). There's so much great music here. Obviously the Temptations, Sly Stone, Parliament and Funkadelic, Isaac Hayes and Marvin Gaye all fit in their own way.

Baby Huey and Curtis lead in a couple of directions: the first is Chicago soul more generally. Curtis got his start in the Impressions. I like everything they did. I personally like Jerry Butler, another one of the Impressions, a lot. The Staples Singers are rock solid, too.

Good wishes for your new home man. Talking about minimalist composer, Part is my favorite. You should check out Tabula Rasa and Arbros, they're the most intense discs from him, also Te Deum if you can find it. Anyway, may you recommend me some brilliant japanese stuff?

Thanks for stopping by. Noticing Townes VZ at the top of your weekly brings me way back. I hope you've got a hold of his Live at the Old Quarter album. It captures the stark simplicity of his performances better than anything else I know.

save for a hardcore (Cortez), heavy doom (Primitive Man) and harsh noise (K2) i haven't heard any 2013 release yet. have almost finalized my backlog for 2012 so i can start with this year soon :) i wasn't really serious about quitting this site, but it's definitely true that it has lost a lot of its former charm
