I'm an Art history student, but since it's only the freshman year we study primeval art and ancient civilizations. My subject is the Soviet post-war art, and we'll be covering it in 3 years. Still a long time coming, but the university life is pretty exciting as it is. Is Liverpool far away from the place you studied at before? Btw, as a neurogenetics PhD, do you get to convey experiments and stuff? :)

And IF... you don't mind, my band is participating of a promotion to get a "video", for free, and it would be very kind of you to help us to get it. You just need to click here and vote for KIERGARD! https://www.facebook.com/soulprodutora/app_162850930432266

Tell me about Liverpool!! hahahah And how's university? I remember you telling me about genetics! hahahahah I bet you are so excited about it all! It's so good to hear it. ;) I'm doing a lot of exams and I'm doing a few little concerts, with my band. It's been great. This band is all I ever wanted. But I can't wait for school to be over... Just a few weeks! For good and I'll go to university!

Hi Oly! :) I'm just fine, thanks! I've started my freshman year at university, and it's so much better than I thought it'd be. How are you doing? What's new? :)

Hi! A nice mix of bands in your library - I just heard the Foals for the first time this week (I've come out from under my rock!) and really liked them!

Wow, thanks! :D I've never thought of connecting work with the anticipation of having fun ;) I do write to-do lists, though, which are indeed quite helpful, but sometimes make me want to add some diversity into my timetable, and that usually messes the whole thing up x) However, I'm doing pretty fine this week with my studies. I think it must be the positive influence of the rainy October weather, which sets one's mind at studying better than anything else :)

Thanks! :) Oh, I understand your being extremely busy - in fact, I'm in my last year of high school, so I'm under a great pressure of work as well. The necessity to get prepared for the university entrance exam next year adds up to it greatly. The thing about the Art History department is that they require an additional examination - one has to study the artists of 3 centuries of Russian artists and write a 2000 or 3000 words composition on one of them - depends on which of them turns up at the exam ticket. I'm only through two-thirds of the tickets and there's still alarmingly lot of things to learn. At the moment I'm fighting with my procrastinational propensities with varying success ;) Have you ever faced procrastination? Do you by any chance know any ways of fighting it? :)

Hello! Glad to hear from you! :D I agree with you here, but the only thing I've got through was the OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and my cure was spontaneous - I haven't really noticed the actual moment I came off my disorder completely, but I tend to think it was the day I was surfing psychology and psychological diseases on Wikiperdia and came upon the OCD and instantly knew that it was all about my weirdness written in plain English, black on white, for everyone to read. It felt like a light was turned on in the dark room of my madness. I guess you know what it feels like, anyway :) Oh yes - I must say, you've made my August and September by your suggestions! I enjoyed nearly every band, but the greatest discoveries were Dirty Pretty Things, The Futureheads, Johnny Foreigner and Good Shoes :) Many thanks again! :D

I used to be very much resolved to become a psychologist in the future, as I'm fascinated with the complexity of the human nature, but then I had to give that up, because, I think, only a person with an impassive and strong nature is capable of making a good psychlogist, both of which I'm clearly not, so I hope to end up as an Art Historian in the end :)

Well, of course I'm absolutely fascinated with London, but also I'd love to visit Scotland, because one of my absolute favourite British authors - Muriel Spark originated from there. Also among my favourite writers are Virginia Woolf, Terry Pratchett, J. K. Rowling, H. G. Wells, Jane Austen, G. B. Shaw, Sue Townsend and among poets Alfred Tennyson and Coleridge. I feel at a loss to recommend something, though, but the latest books I've read and enjoyed very much were Muriel Spark's "Loitering With Intent" and "Memento Mori" and Virginia Woolf's "Mrs Dalloway". Just now I'm reading Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibilty" and it doesn't cease to amaze me how much Austen's wits still appeal to the characters of modern people. Also I, like you, recently finished reading Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and came to a conclusion that I've never read anything like that before.

As for music - I listen to nearly everything, but at the moment I'm mostly into indie bands like Maximo Park and The Pigeon Detectives. Also I see that you are a sophisticated listener of Hole, and I was just about to explore them some more, but didn't get much farther than "Violet", which I enjoyed very much. I thought that maybe you will suggest me some tracks of theirs that I should listen to :) Thanks! :3

Thanks! :D As for knowledge, I completely agree with you and also I feel that education provides the kind of independence each person aspires to. I wish I knew the authors of these illustrations as well - I found them at an art-lovers' community at inContact - Russian analog of Facebook. There's an abundance of suchlike works of art. Yes, I have noticed that you're from England :) I think UK is a great country to explore, and it is my dream to visit it some time when I'm older. Also, no matter how weird it may seem, I somehow feel patriotic for England, being very much into English literature, poetry, art and music :) Oh yes, I used to be extremely valetudinary while in my crazed early teens - I kept being suspicious of somebody watching me and my friends plotting against me. Now that it wearied off, I tend to blame it on the inferiority complex or some similar psychological problem not unknown to most of those who experienced the severities of being a teenager.

Om mig

Um... Hmm... Well... HI.

I'm Oly. 22 years old, female, PhD student in neurogenetics at the University of Liverpool. Leave me a shout if you want to chat. :)

Things I like:

- Thinking about life, the world, reality. It gets freaky if you think about it too much, but I kinda like that.

- Music. I enjoy quite a few different genres, and I'm always looking for recommendations!

- Genetics, psychology, philosophy, religion.

- People that don't try too hard to be anything other than their wonderful selves.

- Anything that makes me laugh.

- Anything that involves learning and doesn't involve exams.

- Wandering aimlessly whilst listening to my ipod at full volume.

- Walking, forests, mountains, lakes.

- Chewing gum.

- Rubik's cubes.

- Tea and coffee.

- Batman, Harry Potter, Pokemon.
