I hope the FFS shows will have the same intimacy as the Sparks shows, seeing them for the first time truly is something special. It's like being in heaven for an evening. I think there's a special bond between Sparks, their fans, and the fans between each other. The first time I saw Sparks it changed my life, because it was the first time I felt like I belonged. Being in that audience you're part of a family, and you can start a worth wile conversation with anyone you see. (There are some exceptions of course, but there's very few. I've not met one of the exceptions at gigs.) But honestly I can't describe the sensation of a (first) Sparks show. It's something beyond description. The songs are even better live, the ambiance is AMAZING, Russell and Ron are both so lovely, as is the audience. (It was a bit different with KMH at the Barbican because it wasn't necessarily all the biggest fans, a lot of them just love Kimono and that was it.) So let's hope for a good audience with FFS! :)

I was so stunned they played Get In The Swing, I was giving it my all. Couldn't be happier. (And then later on Looks Looks Looks as well, was so pleased they played it as well. I think the most successful bit of the second part considering the audience was The Number One In Heaven, huge success! I've shown a video to my parents and even they applauded when it ended (they're not really fans, they sometimes fake being interested, but there was no faking this time). But honestly, every song was special and truly amazing. It was really great and Ron and Russell were both SO HAPPY as well, they both have been smiling a lot and tears were shed when they received their standing ovation. They are such lovely, warm, honest and humble people.

Talent Is An Asset has always been one of my ultimate favourites and this version with the orchestra, I think I've been sitting there unable to close my mouth. (Unfortunately there's not any good recordings of it, the beginning is wonderful but because everyone is clapping along all you can hear on any recording is the clapping). And Equator... Wow. Just wow. Russell wanted the audience to sing, it was quite funny. It was a bit of a shy audience (I think because it was mostly older fans who just wanted to sit in their seats and enjoy the show) so they didn't really sing out loud, certainly not with a song as difficult as Equator. Russell remarked with a different part "Well, you know that part". Then later on the audience caught on with the other bit. Russell struck again: "TEMPO!" "PITCH!" After Kimono they played other songs as well, among which Get In The Swing. I have been clapping along so hard that I had a gigantic bruise on my leg. (Only noticed later that evening.) WORTH IT.

And, do you still think it's your album of the year after hearing it? I'm hooked, FANTASTIC ALBUM. It's hard to believe the shows will already be so soon, going to be amazing!! I found it hard to function today. So sorry to hear you had tickets for Kimono My House but had to miss out! It was magic, to me it was like spending an evening in an aquarium of Sparks. It was really beautiful. (Opinions among the older fans about it seem to differ though, but it was right up my street.) Have you seen any videos/heard any audio of it? There's quite a lot of it on YouTube I believe. Songs that were really special to me were Falling In Love With Myself Again (I sometimes listen to that version when I'm out on the street and I can't help having a serial killer smile while listening to it, I LOVE IT.), Here In Heaven was gorgeous, Hasta Manana Monsieur featured Russell with some instrument of which I don't know the name but that was enough to make any fan's evening.

I am VERY excited about the whole FFS thing! I must say my excitement had it's downs near the beginning, but I didn't fully grasp what was going on and needed some time to adjust to it being FFS and not Sparks while not really being a Franz Ferdinand fan. (I hope I am not offending anyone by saying that...) The Domino Effect I LOVED, but I wasn't as immediately keen of the singles. Until Collaborations Don't Work, which is the masterpiece I was hoping for (and more). I guess Collaborations Don't Work has most of the things I love so much in Sparks going on (with that "more than could be expected" factor to it), so in a way it was a doorway for me to finally be able to fully appreciate the songs released earlier. And now my love for FFS is growing by the day. What also really helps is seeing how great all these people are together and how much they are enjoying the project. It's giving them all freedom in a way, and they get to do what they all love, which I in turn love.
