27 feb 2008, 00:50Tue 26 Feb – Feist, The Lucksmiths
Prince Bandroom, St Kilda, Melbourne, AUSTRALIA
I bought at Feist shirt from the merchandise tent and was served by one of the members of Feist.
Lucksmiths are a nice easy to listen to Melbourne band with a Aussie sound. Lead singer stands up to play drums while singing, and there is a keyboardist/vocals, lead guitar/vocals members also. Standing at the back of the stage was I believe a bass guitarist, although I'm not sure he is part of the regular line up?
During Lucksmiths, many of Feist and Broken Social Scene could be seen wandering around the crowd, watching the show. In particular I saw Andrew White from BSS and (sorry don't know all the band members names) the guy from Feist who is always wearing a beanie on stage.
Sequined dress, purple tights, silver high heels.
Sally from New Buffalo sang one of her songs, followed by a collaborative song between Feist and Sally (1,2,3,4).
Leslie Feist is a chatty entertainer, with stories and humour. During one song, in a quiet pause, a bar guy dropped a plastic tub while walking through the back of the crowd towards the bar. Leslie Feist believed it to be an audition for a backup drummer.
Andrew White from BSS played a song from his solo project, and helped out on a Feist song.
Architecture in Helsinki were brought out on stage for brass -- eleven people on the stage at once.
Leslie Feist commented that she only realised she had played the Prince band room before (wearing a sequined jumpsuit, with Chicks on Speed) when she visited the peculiar backstage toilet.
