Not anymore cause Jay lives in LA, Hugh lives in Atlanta, and Ruyter is always on tour with Nashville Pussy. Hopefully they don't wait another 10 yrs to drop another LP.

Yeah, my buddy first heard Pallbearer open for Saint Vitus last summer and gave me the rec. I still have been meaning to check out the newest release. Personally, I prefer Houses of the Unholy to Thy Kingdom Scum. I met the Australian guitarist after the show. Too bad all vinyl was sold out haha. Have you heard my friend Jay's band Dick Delicious and the Tasty Testicles? They're local Atl comedy metal legends.

I haven't, but I've heard their shows are life changing, they're that loud haha. I've made it one of my life's goals to at least see them once. I'm thinking of seeing Weedeater too and a couple of other shows coming soon. I love seeing shows in EAV rather than the Masquerade tho. Church of Misery at the Earl back in '12 was one of the best shows I've ever seen there.

That's whassup, I've heard commercials about Manic Compression, but my Mondays are usually pretty tied up around that time of evening. I always tune in Fridays between 4 - 8. Pretty cool I've met people on here that share the same playlists on there as me. Left on the dial, right on the music! Did you catch the latest Eyehategod show? It was killer.

So what shows do you host on Album 88? I'm a long time listener - since the early 90's.

Yeah I'm planning on going to their concert in Cali! Hopefully they haven't sold out yet cause I still have to make plans and buy the tickets lol. When are you seeing Swans?

Hey man, you going to Deafheaven's tour? (may be in the future or already passed depending on where you live) Also, almost every metal-related group I see, I see you scrobbled them. Pretty awesome dude lol

Gotta see KEN mode my friend. I'm gonna see them in the fall with Rosetta I think. Can't say enough good things about "Sky Burial" as well. Saw Inter Arma in Brooklyn...like 10 bucks! Couple weeks ago. I probably didn't phrase my earlier post well...lol. Trap Them were crushing as usual, played Mission Convincers. Set list was heavy on Seizures and Handcraft...fine with me. I just worried that the acoustics that a band like Deafheaven needs to come across clearly might be lacking. It wasn't. : ) My black metal listening has fallen WAY off as well, traditional death metal too, honestly. Can't really explain it...

Deafheaven was insanely good man. Off the fuckin chain good. I'm liking St. Vitus more and more as a venue. I had my fingers crossed for the sound. I just saw 7SoS and Trap Them there...but the sound was spot on. Woe is really good, getting better with each release. Withdrawal is a killer album. If you dig them, check out Mutilation Rites. Both bands are big on the Brooklyn circuit. MR's last album is money. I agree with you about Wolves...hope their hiatus isn't permanent. Bummed I'm gonna miss the Mouth of the Architect, Intronaut, Inter Arma show...big time.

Did you see Deafheaven? I'm out the door in about 5...stoked. Later.

Glad you made it. The set list was definitely on point. Heavy on Static Tensions is fine by me. Could of done with a couple of the new tracks but Quicksand was a highlight for me. Along with Scapegoat and Hollow Severer back to back. Amazing gig. I hope Deafheaven delivers, I'm seeing them next week too. They were strong a couple years ago. Agree about black metal being hit or miss live. I've seen Emperor and Immortal, they both were crushing. Mayhem was kind of a mess the last 2 times I caught them. Woe and Mutilation Rites are two newer bands that got their shit together live. Strangely my best black metal exp in recent memory was Wolves in the Throne Room. They are notorious for being spotty live but I thought they were amazing...shame they might be calling it a day. Looking at that pic of Sonic Youth... Damn I used to have a thing for Kim Gordon. At sixty, I'd still think about it...lol. Later man.

I'm all about the crusty hardcore. You're spot on, there is a proliferation of same sounding bands flooding the scene. Mostly courtesy of Southern Lord...lol. But there is something about that sound I'm really into right now. Will check out Children of God...I thought it might be a Swans related project when I saw the name. Nice Iron Lung shirt btw...

I hear ya loud and clear. Unfortunately most of the decent small to midsize venues in Jersey held 18 and over gigs exclusively. A couple got in trouble with underage drinking. Went dry, and opened up to all ages but couldn't stay afloat without the liquor sales. Some were awesome venues to see shows as well. New York City, by and large doesn't have the same problems. All age shows, present your ID, police the crowd, and everyone's happy. Kids and barfies. Kylesa is on a roll man, check it out if you can...

That Nasum Grind Finale 2x album is priceless... So much good stuff on there, b-sides, rarities, and such. Killer comp. You going to Kylesa on the 21st. I just saw them and they we're off the hizzle. The new stuff sounded great live, heavier actually. They've yet to disappoint me in concert. I pretty much stared at Laura for most of the show. Adios.

Yeah, gotta admit getting baked before shows was a ritual. I used to smoke myself retarded in the parking lot. Imo, it enhanced the experience big time. Especially for bands like True Widow, Isis, Neurosis, Sleep. I no longer partake for my own reasons but don't begrudge the way of the smoke. At all... Too bad you missed the rest of the set. I'm kinda surprised that TW upstaged Baroness in your opinion. They are quite different though...so I can understand it. When I saw them with Meshuggah, I enjoyed Baroness more, so go figure. JDB is the man. Was wondering how the new rhythm section performed? Good? Got Tomahawk tonight myself..stoked. Will be weird seeing them at the ritzy, glitzy Best Buy Theater in the middle of Times Square. Very eclectic 3 month chart dude...good shit. Peace.

A weekend to remember for sure...which is tough ; ) I'm gonna miss Baroness this time through. They've had so many linup changes. John and Pete are the core now...they sound great together. Allen was a great drummer...his loss may be felt. F'n bus crash. Hope they comeback stronger. Would be sweet if Summer came back in the bass slot. I never found out why he left. Dude had a great stage presence. If anyone deserves success it's those dudes. Had the pleasure of seeing them with Meshuggah b4 the crash and they ruled. I'm rooting hard for 'em. Saw True Widow in Brooklyn a cpl years ago and fell in love with the band. Let me know how that show goes dude. Peace.

Yup...High on Fire, Pig Destroyer, Burnt By the Sun, Bongzilla, Mastodon (Remission just came out), Dillinger, Today is the Day, Cephalic Carnage... I'm missing a couple. One of the best weekend fests I've been to. Along with the 1st couple New England Metal and Hardcore Fests. Just an amazing amount of talent. YOB I've seen a couple times but the last show with Dark Castle and Batillus stands out. Sunn O))) I've seen quite a few times over the years mostly...um...in an altered state. Last time I saw them I was sober, played with Earth actually, and they we're in fine form but I have to admit that it was a totally different experience ; ) True Widow rules btw...think they just got signed to Relapse. The bassist/vox is a fox. Love that heavygaze sound man.

Damn dude, sorry to hear about that. Hope it's not degenerative, take care of those ears. I have to have music/tv going at night to sleep...drowns out the ringing. I hear you on Neurosis, I've caught them a few times but only 3 times in the last 10 years. Best might of been the Relapse Contamination Fest in Philly, 2003ish.. They brought the place down. Catching Swans, Sunn 0))), YOB, and Boris really did me in...hearing wise. Esp the first 2. I always wear filters for playing and plugs for gigs now. I don't care if it's cool or not. Lot's of things more important than that, as you well know. Right on bud.

Digging the love for Sonic Youth. Crazy to think Thurston is on the new Twilight album when it comes out. He's no joke either. His love of black metal is well documented. Should be interesting to see what he has to offer with Blake Judd, Wrest, and whoever is still on board. I believe Aaron Turner is no longer involved. I remember listening to Dirty and Daydream Nation one night and it clicked (illicit substances may have played a part.) A couple of freinds had been trying to get me into Sonic Youth for a long time and I wasn't having it. To my detriment right? Hasta my friend. Enjoy Clutch if you go...Earth Rocker is amazing imho...
