As an American entertainer and comedian born in Washington, DC, much of my standup comedy stems from the use of paraprosdokians and garden path sentences spoken in a wandering falsetto tone of voice and a confused, childlike delivery of my material to produce the intended comic timing in a manner invoking the 'wisdom of children' or the idiot savant.

Finally established as a reliable stand-up comedian, I would write thousands more of these self-deprecating jokes. Then I began headlining shows in Las Vegas and made frequent encore appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. He became a regular on The Dean Martin Show and appeared on The Tonight Show 70 times.

I bought a Manhattan nightclub in 1969 (15 years to the day before I was born) in order to remain near my children (yeah, I know it sounds confusing), because their mother was too ill to take care of them. "The Cool Whipped" was the venue for an HBO show which helped popularize many stand-up comics, including Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Tim Allen, Roseanne Barr, Jeff Foxworthy, Sam Kinison, Rita Rudner, Andrew Dice Clay, Dick Cheney and Bob Saget.

On 22 November 1997, I was found died in my Sydney Ritz-Carlton hotel room. On 6 February 1998, after an autopsy and coronal inquest, New South Wales State Coroner, Derrick Hand, presented his report which ruled that my death was a suicide while depressed and under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
