    I didn't! This is pretty interesting though, a sort of poppy and modern take on the minimal synth sound from what it sounds like.

    Did you listened to the new Have a Nice Life album yet btw? I'm purposely avoiding Deathconsciousness comparisons right now because it would obviously fall short but I thought it was a pretty admirable sophomore effort. I can hook you up with a download link if you want.

    Yeah! I have "The Tears of Eros" which is about art theory I believe, "Visions of Excess: Selected Writings 1927-1939" which I think is more nonfiction, and his account of Gilles de Rais. I haven't read any of those yet so can't give a particular stance. I also brought "Là-bas" aka "The Damned" by Joris-Karl Huysmans, one of my favorite novels which also deals with Gilles de Rais. I look for any opportunity to shill that one hahaha.

    That Hooked Cross demo was really cool! I love the vocals especially, they're close to being exactly what I want out of black metal (basically, the more pained and shriek-y the better for me haha).

    Haven't read that Mishima! I've only read Patriotism so I'm interested. Also raw black metal is life so I just downloaded the demo and will try to listen to it soon!

    The only Rome album I've heard is Nera but I love it. Any suggestions on where to branch out to next?

    I haven't but I have it to read at my house! I've heard it's really pessimistic and despaired, which sounds interesting to me. I've heard Death on the Installment Plan is even better though. Have you read that?

    I could see Sade's ideas getting a little tiring/infuriating in purely philosophical writing. His ideas that god doesn't exist or at least doesn't matter and that life has no ultimate meaning are interesting, but he doesn't really advance that besides saying #YOLO and being done with it. But that attitude works a lot better for an art piece like a novel, which is why 120 Days of Sodom is so great. People might criticize it as him just trying to exercise the most horrible, disgusting things he could possibly think of, but they're exactly right and that's the reason it's an incredible work.

    Oh man, nice! Apparently Salò screened at a museum in my hometown while I was still in Portland :( It's really incredible though. Have you read de Sade's book? I've seen the film both before and after and it's really incredible how much reading de Sade's writing manages to dull the film's initial shock (if not its ultimate effect).

    I see that Psychic TV event in your sidebar. Are you from New York? I would do anything to live there at least for a while, just because of the film screenings there. I die of envy every time I look at screenings at Anthology Film Archives or the MoMA.

    Yo, sorry it took me a while to get back. And I haven't read Our Lady of the Flowers but I actually have it at school too! Haha. Right now I'm reading Dante's Divine Comedy for a Dante class I'm taking next semester. After I finish that I'll probably read this book about Nephilim/ancient giants which looks like a pretty crazy piece of speculative/occult history. It's on Boyd Rice's "essential reading" list so it has to be bizarre.

    Hm…. I have a few ideas. There's a book written by Andrei Tarkovsky about directing I have but haven't read yet. I also have some poetry by directors like Forough Farrokhzad and Pier Paolo Pasolini. I had a few Japanese classics as well like those by Kawabata Yasunari and Ôe Kenzaburô. I also had some continental philosophy stuff I might be brave enough to attempt (Foucault, Sloterdijk, Debord, etc.). Anything you going to bring?

    She's Louise Brooks. I think the .gif is from Pandora's Box, but Diary of a Lost Girl, Prix de beauté, and Beggars of Life are all also great movies she's in.

    I'll try to if I'm still in Portland! (I'm going back to Houston over winter break but I don' know when my last finals are yet) I wanted to go to Godflesh a month or so ago but they were 21+ only ;__;

    David Tibet rapping, how can you go wrong? How's that Viper album by the way? I've heard it's really weird and coked-out outsider hip hop of the highest calibre and that sounds very appealing to me.

    That sounds awesome! I'm going to listen to that for sure. Have you heard C93's "Crowleymass" single? It's like them doing a dance song, it's really silly and really weird for their career: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDjy4CMfp78

    Cool, same here! I'm in the process of getting my books shipped here and most of what I've already read remains at home. I'd be happy to do some recommendation trading though. My E&D for next semester also has Bataille on the curriculum so that's super exciting, one of the main reasons I chose that choice actually.

    Thanks! Yeah I'm on a big Current 93 kick especially because I've recently gotten really into mysticism and the occult. Any fan of Mishima and especially Bataille is a friend of mine too. ;O
