  • The Pigeon Detectives@ The O2 Academy Birmingham

I,ve been to the O2 loads of times to see gigs and for the first time was in one of the smaller rooms which lead to a more intimate experience that I loved. This was the third time I've seen The Pigeon Detectives live having seen them as both a support and main act and it was by far the best gig I've seen them do,songs both old and new were equably well received by the lively audience who danced all night and joined in with a singalong to all the old favourites.Matt Bowman was his usual energetic self he really does go for it and just watching him tires me out.Highlight of the night for me was when they sang What Can I Say,my favourite song off their superb new album. To sum it up The Pigeon Detectives were brilliant and the party I was with all really impressed with them saying how good they were and how it's up there with our favourite gigs of the year and we go to quite a few.Thank you for a great night Pigeon Detectives which was even better than I expected it would be and has raised my opinion of you as a band even further.
  • The Airborne Toxic Event @ The LIbrary Hmv Institue

Seeing as The Airborne Toxic Event are my favourite band at the moment and their second album my favourite album of the year I was really looking forward to this gig. From the first note of their first song the awesome title track off their second album All At Once to their last I was held captive by this band,I loved their energy the way Mike Jollet interacted with the crowd and the way they interacted with the each other, they really do come across as a bunch of friends that make music together.Seeing as they've only made two albums I think they played more or less everything they've done.Highlights of the evening for me were their opening song All At Once and Sometime Around Midnight (predictable I know but there really is a reason why they're audience favourites) but I loved every song especially their live version of Half Of Something Else.Man I love this band and just can't get enough of them at the minute.
  • Manchester Orchestra, they've got to be seen live

Usually I,m not into bands like Manchester Orchestra,I,m more into punk sounding Indie and rock has never really been my bag,but genres aside from my first listen to Manchester Orchestra I,ve been a big fan.Andy Hull is nothing short of genius he just doesn,t write songs,he writes stories encapsulating his life and puts them to music.Watching Manchester Orchestra in such a small venue as the Library at the HMV Institute Birmingham was an amazing experience and one I,ll never forget, for any fans who,ve never seen them live you,ve just got to.From their first to last note they were awesome and days later I,m still buzzing from the memory of it.Definately up there with my best gigs of the year.Thank you Manchester Orchestra and come back to the UK soon ya,ll hear.
