We need to start kissing some serious British ass so maybe they can send us your festivals. If I ever visit England, I'd probably go around time they hold similar festivals. Have fun mate.

I'm really digging Judgement lately, a fantastic album with a bit of a Pink Floyd feel to it. I must listen to more of their stuff. Been listening to Lamb - Fear Of Fours as well and it's a good enough album but I still prefer their self-titled one.

i blogged this ages ago, and uploaded this song, recommend this album, it's a little firebrand experiment from the latent Japanese hard rock scene. The singer has been described as the Japanese Tom Jones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEzRgfRHxKA

Your last message utterly charmed me, Lee! Yes it would be nice to do a joint blog, I am awful at writing though, and if I ever had the remotest ability to review an album coherently it is probably gone by now! Well time pending, who knows. There are large chunks of Substix I am slightly embarrassed by now, and it's all but defunct, however there were some pretty good shares on there. Checking out your lists on RYM, top notch. Recently got a new laptop, old comp gave out, so had to re-list the exterior hard drive overflow that was lost as 'used to own', IN THE PROCESS unearthing many a gem in the digital archives I'd completely forgotten. Brother Alex recently got a terrabyte drive, so he's happy and prodigiously downloading as ever. Should get him back on Da FM. x

Hey, howsit going? What are you up to nowadays? I'm doing ok - just keeping really busy with work and stuff. And yes, it has been a long time - do you still hang out on MB?

Cheers m'dears, recommendations much appreciated, saves a lot of time and keeps the borizons hoard. Horizons broad. I am starting with Umberto - amazing, it's evoking those soundtracks very well, do I detect a slight affected VHS noise? re Italo horror this is something I was watching last week http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb5vLUBkpCA

yes killing joke, unique to the last! I would say ahead of their time but I can't think of many comparisons, some industrial-cum-rock stuff I guess. And what a coincidence, soft machine, I've been reviving one of my uncategorizable 60s faves recently, 'Volume One' (Third is out there too but more jazz/studio trickery)

Yes, sure man! Well, if you've not heard them, Soft Machine may be right up your alley. Their album Third is particularly interesting, in my opinion. Tuxedomoon may also be of interest? They were recommended to me by dankrsta, and do not disappoint. Their album The Ghost Sonata was the first of theirs I'd heard, but it's still my favorite. And if you're interested in some really interesting free jazz to change things up, Peter Brotzmann, Albert Ayler, and Eric Dolphy might be of interest.

You can try band Gåte. Not as fantastic as Valravn but it's really similar and also nice music. Than I like also Faun and Omnia but it's more folk, not folktronic (folk+elektronic).

hey no bad at all (re Monte)! Yes i have imposed upon myself a classic straight heavy metal education, so catching up on bands I always ignored like Judas Priest and Maiden (no i dont hate Dickinson either, just prefer DiAnno vastly!)... NWOBHM i was already slightly clued up on after that legendary comp you sent me all those year(s?) ago. I agree on Anvil aswell. Fantastic (if formulaic) doc, not so good on the music front except for a few classic songs! I'm even loving the Dio canon right now ffs, where is all this heading?! Attempting not to stray into the hard rock divide, and (at risk of sounding like a genre obsessive but they are handy markers) straying inevitably into the loosely-defined speed metal, from whence our old favourite Mr Thrash! Have been trying to fathom early The Doom Metulz since delving into the SST back catalogue, but bar a few albums it's always been a tough one for me - Witchfinder General set the stage there apparently?

you lucky bugger re sonisphere! Yes it's all about the oldies. I've also recently discovered that, like AC/DC, Maiden had an early singer who doesnt get on my tits, and they were great! Having caught it during the BBC's excellent 'Storyville' run of docs last year I just picked up the 'Anvil' documentary too, where do you stand on 'metal on metal'... :p

a month late but... cracking video for that thrash track! some seriously impressive axework going on here, and by that i mean in the pantheon of a bugillion thrash bands it manages to amuse! On facebook actually i have the 'thrash metal' page posts come up on my feed everyday, including modern bands that sound EXACTLY like vintage Anthrax. but with even worse lyrics! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn9_EQ2ykyo

Ah yeah, those are his bands. I've never found anything on The Love Force, but I have The Atom Smashers album, 6 songs, three of which are on his comp, but different versions. I'll be sending you some albums on MB. Cheers :)

You mean by him or more of the early industrial? He had a bunch of singles, I think they're all compiled here and some live albums. He also has an album with Factrix, another San Francisco band I highly recommend. Hmm... Chrome is a great band I think you'd like, if you haven't heard it, then SPK, Test Dept., Z'EV...I can upload a couple of albums if you want and send you. Btw, so glad you like Monte Cazazza :)

Om mig

It's just a free excuse to whore yourself out really. As The Specials once said: "It's all a load of bollocks"
