I took the standard method of finding this out on Last.fm. By visiting the tags page of each of the artists in my overal top ten. I then set about adding all the values for the "Metal" tag. This came to 887.
1. The White Stripes 71
2. Green Day 143
3. Placebo 87
4. Aiden 14
5. AC/DC 354
6. Moby 22
7. Goldfrapp 12
8. Doves 11
9. The Smashing Pumpkins 154
10. The Arcade Fire 19
71+143+87+14+354+22+12+11+154+19 = 887
To make into an average we divide by Ten (our data range)
88.7 = 887/10
Now we need to know the average metal tag, regardless of what artists it maybe.

Adding up the first ten gives us:
14869
We now need to make that into an average so we do:
1486.9 = 14869/10
Now comes the final bit we divide our average by the tag's average:
0.0596 = 88.7/1486.9
Now we have our average we need to make it into a percentage. We multiply by 100.
5.9% = 0.596*100
This shows i'm not exactly a hardcore metal fan, however I listen to a moderate amount of metal I spose.
