My spirits were very low yesterday and still are today. Goddamnit, I did not even know the man, but here I am, mourning the death of Peter Steele and feeling devastated all the same. For me, Type O Negative songs are strongly associated with my early twenties and they will remain beautiful and nostalgic to me until the day I die. Those songs are part of who I am today. When I listen to Type O albums, all the memories come flooding back. I recall the endless hours of listening to October Rust while smoking in my darkened room lit by candles, I recall the silly thoughts, hopes, dreams, crushes I was having then.

Just a few months ago, all of a sudden, I had this urge to listen to Type O Negative albums again, and could not stop listening to those for days once I started. There were various rumours online about a new album coming out. I had high hopes to see them play live some day soon (which I never did, nor will I now…).

This Friday evening I will sip red wine straight from the bottle, listen to your music while one hundred candles are burning and hope that you are cracking your dark jokes somewhere out there… Type O Negative
