Exactly, other than who listens to them, AC and Grizzly Bear don't have the same sound as the DPs. I suppose they are similar in regards to the fact that they are all indie pop and they all are experimental, but all three have very different sounds. :/ I will definitely listen to the two albums you listed because I have been craving more music like the Dirty Projectors'.

In fact it is available on Spotify! Lucky me...I think I will listen to it now. :P Eccentric voices sound intriguing to me. But seriously you need to try and find an invite!

I will admit I'm a bit jealous :P The Ruby Suns sound amazing! Best thing I've heard in awhile. :D If this was also in your last.fm recommendations I'm going to have to stop ignoring mine then!

Sounds like it's not a bad trade at all ;) Well I'll tell you all about The xx/jj show and you can tell me all about The Ruby Suns with Toro y Moi. Deal? :D I'll be listening to The Ruby Suns next. Again thanks for the links!

I've been listening to Mixel Pixel for the past hour and what a treat they are! Thanks for recommending them to me. :) However did you hear about them? Yes, definitely I would appreciate any links for Gonjasufi. It does sound very interesting and I'm up for anything new! :] Don't worry I've added your aim sn to Adium (I'm also a mac user) but I've been busy with some work.

That's because we have such similar taste in music my friend! ;) Nice! I also check out your charts and what your listening to. :D You have so many I've never heard of before! I think it's great that we help each other discover new music. =)

I recommend the album Birds of Passage! You've probably heard lead singer Anneli Drecker voice in Rokysopp's "Vision One", "You Don't Have a Clue", and "True to Life."

haha yeah I really like what I hear. :) Although like I told you before I've listened to a few songs of theirs but that was ages ago. I was surprised to hear similarities with Bel Canto. I'm listening to them now.

Sure. Geogaddi was the first that I got, and was therefore my favorite for a while, but I also really enjoy Music Has The Right to Children. To be frank with you, I haven't really been disappointed with much of their work.

saw your comment on The Books...I've been searching for a good similar artist for years, their music is one of kind, really. Bexar Bexar is somewhat similar, tho more like The Album Leaf. Tim Fite uses random vocal & musical samples that he collects in his music, especially in Just for You, check him out, his albums are all over the place (free @ http://www.timfite.com/)

Nice! I'm also really mainly going for jj. I actually prefer them over The xx. :D I listened to jj nº 3 a a couple of times recently and I felt so let down. It just seems weaker than jj n° 2. Maybe I just need to listen to it some more. Oh crap, The Books was suppose to be the first thing I listened to yesterday. I totally forgot! I will check them out later asap as well as Cocteau Twins. Goodnight :)

Hey thanks for the recommendation! :) I think I may have very briefly listened to some Cocteau Twins songs before but I'm not really sure. "Teardrop" is an amazing song! So I'll make sure to give them a better listening and I'm also in luck since Heaven or Las Vegas is available on Spotify! I noticed your going to see The xx and Beach House, so am I! :D I'm so glad I bought my Beach House ticket before they sold out!

Yea, great taste you too! Super compability even. I haven't listened to Beach House until today, and somehow during the two first tracks on Teen Dream I got the impression that the voice was a high pitched man voice :) Don't know how, when I hear them now it's obviously a girls voice. Have you seen Beach House live? Any good? Thinking of seeing them when they are here.

Yes, I'll definitely make sure to add you on aim. It's a very good idea since I've also noticed that each time we send our shoutout messages they keep getting larger and larger. :D I'll make sure to check out Gotan Project. I did a quick check on Spotify and not only do they have Lunatico but also La Revancha del Tango. Sounds interesting, indeed! I've noticed you listen to The Books a lot. Should I give them a listen? :)

No problem =) I agree Honey is Cool is completely on the opposite music spectrum compared to The Knife. As you can tell by my charts I tend to have more of an electronic music tendency. So it's good when I feel like listening to something different. You do have a good reason to be jealous! :D hehe Spotify is amazing! Full-length streams of just about any songs are available! So I'm really open to any new recommendations. A couple of months ago there was a period of time when an invite code wasn't needed for signing up. But of course if you lived in the U.S you still needed a proxy from a supporting country in order to do so. That's how I was able to sign up. Unfortunately, I think Spotify caught on so they went back to using invites. If you get one I will be glad to help you set it up. :)

Yes, by all means you should definitely check out Honey is Cool! It will give you a good insight into Karin's musical background before her work in The Knife. The members of Honey is Cool actually created Rabid Records in 1998. Which is now the home to The Knife, Fever Ray, and Olof Dreijer. Like you said before we have super compatibility so I'm pretty certain you will like them. :) Let me know if you need some links to get started with because it can be pretty difficult to find some. I've been waiting patiently for a new Radio Dept. album for so long now I can't believe it's almost here! I just hope April 21 will finally be the release date of Clinging to a Scheme since they have postponed the album a few times before. I can't wait! :D What do you think of "Heaven's on Fire?"

Hi :) I'm immensely in love with the album. It's pretty creepy and scary but I love it. I've been listening to it nonstop since yesterday morning! I just can't get enough of it. I never thought I would actually enjoy any kind of opera. :D I also agree with you that a a DVD should be release so that listeners can enjoy an audiovisual experience. Now that you've probably listened to it various times now what are some of your favorites? :) Some of my favorites so far are "Ebb Tide Explorer", "Variation of Birds", "Colouring of Pigeons", "Annie's Box, "Seeds", and "The Height of Summer."

Definitely an appropriate comparison, I'd say. I've seen Solaris, but I've been meaning to check out some of Tarkovsky's other films for quite some time now. Funnily enough, I've had this album for years, and didn't even realize it was based on a movie. Harrowing stuff.

I can understand what you mean. However, I really like Broadcast, but only really their last album, "Tender Buttons". I am not saying their earlier work was bad, but it was a different sound completely. It was when they lost their 60s female pop vibe (and 3 of their members) and started producing improvisational electronica that I got into them. So yea, there are people who only like the most recent album and that can be annoying, but sometimes there is a reason behind it (aside form it just being trendy). I am glad you like Bitte Orca, it is a wonderful album. I just fell in love with Rise Above, (and the song of the same title on that album still blows me away) and thought you may too. And yeah, some bands are like that, where you need to get used to them. At first I thought Black Moth Super Rainbow was too weird for me, but now (especially in the summer) I just think their album "Dandelion Gum" is just brilliant.

I agree with what you said on the Dirty Projector's page, sometimes their earlier albums are a little rough. However I got into them with the release of "Rise Above", Dave Longstreth's remake of Black Flag's album "Damaged" (after not hearing it for fifteen years!). It was this album that really got me into DP. After a year or two of obsessing over that, "Bitte Orca" came out and I was truly amazed. It really is a great album.

i've got devotion and teen dream on vinyl and they both sound great and have really awesome packaging and art. ducktails is one of the guitarists from real estate, so it's got that kind of beach/summery vibe. It's almost all instrumental and pretty laid back. I like it better than real estate, but most people probably wouldn't agree with that. I guess you could compare it to what atlas sound is to deerhunter (except not nearly as good). I really like the self titled ducktails album, I'll send it to you if you're interested
