Here's one of those dumb top 25 games for no reason.

1. What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
King Crimson
21st Century Schizoid Man presumably.

2. What is your favorite album by 2?
Pink Floyd
Wish You Were Here, all the way.

3. What is your favorite lyric that 1 has sung?
Frank Zappa
From Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance:

Who cares if youre so poor you cant afford
To buy a pair of mod a go-go stretch-elastic pants…
There will come a time when you can even
Take your clothes off when you dance

4. How many times have you seen 11 live?
Talking Heads
They split up when I was four or five, so none.

5. What is your favorite song by 7?
Rush
Easy… Between the Wheels. Underrated classic from underrated classic Grace Under Pressure.

6. What is a good memory you have involving 20?
The Locust
When I first heard them and I thought "boy, this is really nuts…"

7. Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad?
Ozric Tentacles
Well, the fact is that they are instrumental dance music, and I don't listen to them that much these days (although I should), so no.

8. What is your favorite lyric that 14 has sung?
Secret Chiefs 3
Well the whole of White as They Come is pretty fun. Largely instrumental band though.

9. What is your favourite song by 19?
The Mars Volta
Frances the Mute, as in the title-track from the album that did not actually appear on the album itself. It is fucking awesome.

10. How did you first get into 22?
Mr. Bungle
Well, back when I was into nu-metal my cousin bought the self-titled Mr. Bungle album, and my immediate reaction was "uh, okay, this is a bunch of random bullshit noises". Then several years later after moving into more experimental fields, I got Disco Volante and my mind was blown. Since then Mr. Bungle has been something of a cornerstone, through association with that band I have discovered so much great music.

11. What was the first song you heard by 21?
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
That would be Sleep is Wrong, which was a free download on their old website. Hooked from the start.

12. What is your favorite song by 4?
Pocrupine Tree
Heartattack in a Lay By possibly, or maybe Collapse the Light Into Earth. Both from In Absentia

13. What is a good memory you have involving 13?
Marilyn Manson
After getting Holy Wood at Christmas, being driven up to my Grandparents' house in Inverness listening to it intently and absorbing it. I still enjoy Manson from Antichrist Superstar through to Holy Wood. Holy Wood has some genuinely great songs on it.

14. Is there a song by 23 that makes you sad?
Fantômas
Uh, no.

15. What is your favorite album of 15?
Caravan
In the Land of Grey and Pink. My god. What a record.

16. What is your favorite lyric that 9 has sung?
Primus
Primus lyrics tend to be a bit "zany" but I am rather fond of Tommy the Cat, with Tom Waits' little turn as the eponymous cat. It's just delivered in the most weird stuttering manner "Tommy the Cat had many a story to tell, but it was a rare occasion such as this that he did…"

17. What is your favorite song by 8?
Tom Waits
Well, it's a hard one to call, but God's Away on Business is pretty damned cool.

18. How many times have you seen 5 live?
Yes
Twice. Another band I've kind of stopped listening to recently.

19. What is your favorite album by 12?
A Silver Mt. Zion
Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upwards most likely. Which is strange because of all of them it took the longest for me to get into.

20. What is a good memory you have involving 25?
Emerson Lake & Palmer
I remember getting a loan of several discs from my friend, including Tarkus and the live album. At the time it was glorious excess. I'm rather less enthused about them these days.

21. What was the first song you heard by 18?
Tool
The Grudge. In the UK Tool aren't all that big compared to their native USA, but I heard they were really cool and bought Lateralus blind. So track one of that was my first experience.

22. What is your favorite song by 17?
Camel
Probably Earthrise, an oft-forgotten instrumental gem from Mirage.

23. What is your favorite album by 24?
Meshuggah
Chaosphere is cool, but if EPs count then it's I.

24. How many times have you seen number 10 live?
The Flaming Lips
Once, 10th November 2006 at the SECC in Glasgow. It was very very awesome.

25. When did you start listening to number 15?
Caravan
While waiting for the new Slipknot album Iowa (yes, Slipknot - I was 15 once) I had a pile of my father's old CDs so I went through them. Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here stood out, as did Caravan's In the Land of Grey and Pink (both appearing in this list already). I was somehow enthralled by this kind of whimsical folksy jazzy rock. It was just really rich and warm, full of adventure and joy compared to the stuff I was listening to then which was cold and rough.

26. How many of your top 25 have you seen live?
9. Although those 9 I have seen a total of 14 times altogether.
