• Minutes to good night?

I just got Linkin Park's new album Minutes to Midnight, and I feel that I have to say something about it:

At first listen, I must say that I don't really like the new sound. It sounds okay, but it's musically too far away from the Linkin Park I used to know.
There are some good tracks (actually just two that I truly enjoyed listening to; Wake and Given Up), but it almost seems like they've gone emo or something (Valentine's Day, anyone?). I mean, just look at the cover and booklet; black & white, black clothes, serious faces and sunglasses. And sorry Chester, but you're the one who looks the most emo. You should get a beard, like the rest of the guys. That eases the impression of emo-ness.
Hopefully, I'll find use for the album as a kind of chill-out rock record, although I guess it'll get better if I listen more to it. It usually helps to get to know the songs better and getting into them. Perhaps I would accept it better if it didn't have Linkin Park's name on it. It surely doesn't seem like them.

Well guys, you told us it'd be something new and special and a departure from your earlier music. You've truly accomplished that, but that's not necessarily a good thing.
Don't get me wrong. It's good to experiment, but when you're an established band with an established sound, you shouldn't depart too much from it, like in this case.

To sum it up; I want the Hybrid Theory sound back.
