Top Ten Artists + Mini-review of the Alkaline Trio show

I saw 4, yes 4 bands tonight:

Drive A: They don't make punk like this anymore. I'd look them up.

Nightmare of You: I now really like the song "My Name Is Trouble", though the song itself is pretty sad. They're not as bad as I thought.

Saves The Day: I sang along, and I was a happy girl seeing them for the first time and hearing songs from their first album. Chris Conley no longer has hot pink hair, but the t-shirt I bought with their logo on it sure is. They got me totally fired up for…

Alkaline Trio: They only played 2 songs off the new album, but since I haven't really liked the new album much, that was kind of a relief. Lots of songs from Good Mourning and Crimson, a couple off of Maybe I'll Catch Fire, and songs from the older CDs. I nearly lost my voice over "This Could Be Love". Cutest Moment of The Night Award goes to the guy who proposed to his girlfriend on stage before the encore started. Everyone cheered, and it was adorable.

While I loved the DCFC show, this show and all four of its bands were better overall. The fact that it was at Amos' Southend and not at a school might've had something to do with it, or maybe because I was closer to the stage, or maybe because all of these bands were generally livelier anyway.

One last word: since it was a 16+ show, I have 2 giant black X-es on my hands to set me apart from those over 21 at the show. I look ~SO HARDCORE.

How many times have you listened to number one?
289

Is this your favorite artist?
Yes, they are probably my consistently favorite band.

What got you into number one?
I looked them up because a few of my 11th-grader friends knew who they were.

Why the hell have you listened to that so much?
Because I love everything about the band, from the music to the vocals, to the storyline behind it. Also, it gives me good memories of high school and my friends that also happen to like them.

Favorite songs of number one.
The Suffering The Velourium Camper I: Faint of Hearts33The Light & the GlassCrossing The Frame

Something you think you'd thoroughly enjoy doing with the artist?
You know, I hadn't thought of it. I'd be happy enough just to even talk to them, really.

Favorite memory of the artist?
The flood of feelings I got when I first heard Time Consumer and said "hell yes, I love this band."

How many times listened to number two?
287 (almost a tie for number one)

What got you into them?
That is to say, who. Evan told me about them.

What makes you like them so much?
I have wonderful memories associated with their music. I can always listen to them and instantly chill out. Also, I have a habit of creating scenes in my imagination that would almost play like a movie, and MTB gets used as the soundtrack pretty often.

Oh, and: best song titles ever, AND invisible basketball.

Favorite songs
Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse
Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!
We Are Not A Football Team
Throwin' Shapes
When We Escape
EDIT: can't forget I Lost All My Money at the Cock Fights or almost all of Menos El Oso

Philly Roll sushi, when it was raining outside. That's just really the same day I heard about them, I haven't had the chance to see them live yet.

How many times have you listened to number three?

Would you pay thirty dollars to see them in concert?
That would depend on who else is playing. 30 dollars for one band is mighty steep.

How many times have you listened to four?

What's so intriguing about them?
They have some very nice songs that are very well-written; I listened to The Postal Service before I ever heard DCFC though. Also, Ben Gibbard makes me sorta swoon like a fangirl, and idc about the age difference. >_>

Could you imagine them in a circus?
I… don't know. Maybe? They're awful mellow for a circus.

I Want To Know Your PlansSpidersongThe Church ChannelTotal RevengeShiksa (Girlfriend) Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too and, of course, Alive With The Glory Of Love

Why I like some of these: Good associations with them, they're catchy, they articulate how I feel, or in the case of The Church Channel, I don't like Paramore a lot, but good gravy I love Hayley's part of the song.

Poor nine and ten, how many times you listened to them?
