You wrote: A stranger? Impossible. Where do you train? I'm inbetween dojos until my next trip to Japan. How about you? Thanks for asking. I mostly train alone, though a few times a week with a few friends here in Maryland. I'm in between dojos myself. Have had a few over the years though due to moving and pursuing my personal training, I prefer training over teaching these days. Was planing on a Japan trip this fall, though might just wait until the next year's theme. How about you?

You should hear The Top if you haven't already, pretty much the sequel to Blue Sunshine just with Robert singing this time...quite a trippy time of The Cure but probably their most enduringly original

Ah, fantastic! I love them all; Kerouac, Ginsberg, Bukowski, Burroughs, Huncke, Ferlinghetti, Corso, Nordine, Patchen etc. I love Kerouac's spontaneous prose and how much of a bastard he comes across in his books. Hahaha. "Why don't you ask me my favourite poet? I know more about poetry than all of you put together."

Oh, and favourite pieces of mine would be "Out To Lunch" by Eric Dolphy, "Ready For Freddie" by Freddie Hubbard, "In A Sentimental Mood" by Duke Ellington & John Coltrane, "Politely" by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and "For You, For Me, Forevermore" by Coleman Hawkins, "Time After Time" by Chet Baker, "The Bird" by Charlie Parker, "Salt Peanuts" by Dizzie Gillespie, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The best we have is BBC Radio 4 (I think is the good one), but I don't listen to much radio. Seems like a great show though, based on the tracks on the site. I do love the Jazz rhythm section, but I was talking about the Beat Generation - I wasn't very clear, I know. Haha. A group of post-war writers and poets who were inspired by Jazz, Buddhism and experiments with drugs. Tom Waits was VERY inspired by the Beat writers, especially Charles Bukowski.

Awesome! Do you like Jug bands? Tampa Red's Hokum Jug Band are fantastic and Memphis Minnie occasionally sang with them, though she sang with everyone. I love that stuff, I love old Blues, the kind of stuff you'll only find on 78rpm records made partly of clay, haha - the kind of records my friend collects but I can't because my record player only goes up to 45. I'm very into Jazz, mainly because I'm very into the Beats!

Cool library - I was impressed to see names like Satie, Shoshtakovich and especially Marlene Dietrich! Haha. I see the only thing that's missing is some Jazz. Not a fan of Jazz?
