Om mig

The Honolulu Weekly writes (September 2005) “As with soundtrack music, his sets tell a story through the mood of the soundscape.” Described as a “musical evangelist” he is known for being unpredictable in his sound, going out of his way to “stay on the edge, because that’s where the thrills are.”

In this highly competitive industry, simply being a DJ and producer is not enough. It is as an artist, that Chris Wren truly distinguishes himself. His skill and style has captivated audiences on dance floors across North America.
Chris fuses his natural talents with 23 years of classical training to produce a signature sound that merges a popular electrohouse sound with emotional progressive undertones. He creates an experience that motivates clubbers, instead of simply supplying a beat. With a heavy nod in style to David Vendetta and Ian Carey, Chris’ sets are likely to be funky, twisted, and energetic.

Ultimately, he creates synergies between many types of music which keeps his sets fresh regardless if his venue is outdoors on the beach or a late night affair.

Not many DJs work in the range of music in which Chris works. At one end, he writes full orchestral scores. But then, he also writes commercial underscores and radio jingles you may have heard on the TV or radio. His ability to ‘hear something different’ has brought billboard artists like Celeda, Andrea Love (of the "Praisecats") Abigail, Gioia (formerly of Expose), Rachel Panay, Mona Chatterjee, and Majandra Delfino (from TV’s ‘Roswell’) to him for unique and unexpected remixes of their tracks. Chris collaborated with DJ Scotty K on a remix for Raven Symone’s show “That’s so Raven” on the Disney Channel and in syndication. on ABC Their remix was used as the sound for the music video of the same name which is used extensively to promote the show.

Originally from Laguna Beach, Chris began studying music at the age of 4 and apprenticed with Warren and Kirsten Langlie, before attending Pepperdine University, where he studied classical piano and international diplomacy.

A “cross-over” DJ who has proved equally at home in both mainstream clubs alongside the likes of D:Fuse, Donald Glaude, and DJ Irene, and on the circuit, Chris has made appearances in the Americas, stretching from Honolulu to Buenos Aires: Headlining at world-famous events and clubs like Miami’s White Party (2 years in a row), The Winter Party, San Francisco’s Mezzanine, Buenos Aires' Axel Hotel, Toronto’s Fly, Washington DC’s Cherry, Vancouver’s Gorgomish, Honolulu’s Hula’s, Spundae/Nikita, The Freedom Party, Here Lounge, Tokyo Lounge, G-Lounge and many more of North America’s most well-known clubs and events. A major highlight was a performance for Washington D.C.'s "Capital Pride", on Pennsylvania Avenue which featured performances with CeCe Peniston and Rachel Panay.

He’s also performed for exclusive private events with crowds over 5,000 strong. BCBG’s Max Azria invited Chris to perform at their 2006 Holiday Party for a crowd of 2,000, and Equality California has used Chris at their last four awards shows, where he has performed with Erasure’s Andy Bell, and Jennifer Holliday.

Chris Wren lives in Seattle, Washington.

He continues to collaborate and sometimes performs with production partner, DJ Kio Kio.
