Wed 12 Mar – Tegan and Sara, Northern State

First off, this was an EXCELLENT show that I am SO fortunate to have gotten a ticket for. One of the best parts of the concert was that they actually TALKED to the crowd (probably more so than any other band that I've seen). There was some lively banter between me and Tegan about Texas (and the mutual hatred towards George W. Bush) as well as the crazy Danish currency (it's like Monopoly money!). So that was definitely refreshing to have a band actually CARE about the audience and love playing…

Fri 15 Feb – Jens Lekman, Choir of Young Believers

So this was a GREAT show! After hearing the opening act, I have to say I was a little apprehensive on how well the crowd would respond to Jens. The Choir of Young Believers were good (don't get me wrong) just tough to listen to live because, frankly, they were pretty depressing. However, when Jens took the stage, everything got a lot more energetic and more people started to get into the music.

Alright, I must admit I tried to come up with a clever title but to no avail.

Now concerning the concert experience:
Coming from Texas, I am accustomed to a completely different atmosphere surrounding live shows. Certainly there are the audiophiles there who choose to soak in the show with their arms crossed and attentively listening to the blending of sounds and the musicality of the band, usually with a glazed look on their face. However, the majority is of the type who's sole purpose seems to be trying to "out-fun" everyone…

After gleaning over 100 albums I’ve gotten this past year, I have put together a list that I think most everyone will see a couple of albums they liked, a couple of albums they didn’t like, and some albums that they have never heard of on it. Overall, this has been a great year for music. A lull in genres like hip-hop and country was made up by stellar electronic albums and indie-rock/pop.
