  • Kristin Hersh on Twitter.....

    22 jun 2009, 20:33

Of late it has been popular for fans of particular cultural figures to keep up to date on their activities using Twitter, if that is possible. Well Kristin Hersh is on Twitter, and unlike some famous musicians, she probably writes her own material. Fans can take a look here...
  • Short new Kate Rusby interview.... Discusses upcoming album, musical influences

    22 jun 2009, 19:46

Some news for Kate Rusby fans.

    Article from thisissussex.com.uk

...............What can you tell us about the new album?

"I think this record is a little different to my others, and that's just because I produced it. People were asking me if there will be a big change in the sound on this record, but why would there be? It's my music, it's me singing, and singing the songs I have written and found, it couldn't really be vastly different to my others.

"As for expectations, they are always the same, make the record how we want to make it, and hope that people will like it, anything that comes along after that is a lovely bonus."

  • Kate Rusby's first child due in September

    31 maj 2009, 00:27

Long term fans of Kate Rusby may be familiar with her musical and personal connection to Scottish fiddler John McCusker. Kate's marriage to Mr. McCusker ended in divorce however, and she moved on.

Lately Kate has been performing with Folk / Roots Music / Psychobilly musician Damien O'Kane, known for his past work with shona kipling and Flook, and she has now made it clear that there is a personal component to the collaboration. Her official website has announced that their first child is due early this September. We in the Kate Rusby group wish both of them, and the newcomer of course, the very best!

Since Damien O'Kane, while an established artist, is probably not so well known as Kate Rusby, here are a few links where you can find out more about him.

    A good picture.

The Shona Kipling and Damien O'Kane MySpace page (this has the best biography of him that I was able to find on the far left of the page below that of Shona Kipling).

    Damien's own MySpace page.

A page with some performance video clips and an interview (part of his work with Shona Kipling).
