I remember hearing that Duke Ellington would imagine a person and then compose music that would evoke that person's image. in that vein, Lonely Woman never evoked anything at all.
My latest trip to the Isle of Unwanted Compact Discs yielded Perles Noires volume one from Sunny Murray and saxophonist Sabir Mateen. Pianist Dave Burrell and bassist Alan Silva also feature on some tracks. My favorite track is probably the very bluesy Lonely Woman, which is not quite like the rest of the album. Anyway, it is very evocative of the namesake so I thought this would be interesting to compare to Ornette's rendition:
