cool! i've had composure since it came out and i know styrax, meanwhile, and metrolux but the others i'm less familiar with. i will try to find a digital rip of that vinyl you recommended. thanks for sharing, woony.

well, dub techno is my favorite and i'm also especially keen on ambient techno like donato dozzy/voices from the lake/bvdub make. of course your charts are the obvious place to look, but I guess I was wondering about any albums that you regard as especially essential for a techno listener to be familiar with. so dub techno, ambient techno, or something that you just love would be great. if that's still too vague then i can just try random stuff from your charts at my leisure.

Could you give me an estimate for the rent of a 1-room apartment? We talking 500+ euros or such?

I'm pretty sure you've seen me calling out lazy house records that just regurgitate '90s sounds for cred. We all have favourite sub-genres and sounds we could happily hear repeated forever, and one of yours is clearly dub techno. For me, there's not enough difference between Hash Bar Loops and Sommer to justify listening to them both. Modell is clearly an expert at what he does, but he does only one thing - texturalism. His work demonstrates almost no variety or invention in form, genre or purpose, and the music is so minimalist the formula soon gets old. Every track is the same ultra-repetitive looped soundscape, and occasionally he won't put a muffled kick drum in.

I think they sound fucking boring, to be honest. Obviously I'm a paid-in-full ASC fanboy but I thought the first Mindspan album was extremely dull, and this just sounds like more of the same. It's an extremely fine line making this kind of atmospheric soundscape dub techno, and unless you are one of the Echospace guys and literally stay up all night moulding field recordings of surf lapping underneath a dock you are going to struggle to make such simplistic music sound interesting. And I'm even getting a bit worn out on the Echospace stuff. I only play Sommer as background white noise to read to. As music it's extremely uninteresting, it's ploughing the same ultra-niche furrow Modell has done numerous times before, and honestly do we need another record full of ultra-sculpted white hiss wrapped around a vague techno throb?

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you can get them fixed. If not, you can always upgrade to pro-hd 650 cables. :)

You scare me Woony. You're like the grandmaster of techno. German, living in Berlin. It's kind of us others adopting the sound while you were born in it (excuse the Bane pop-internet culture analogy).

Hopefully you can manage to fix them. The price/quality ratio of the HD 650 is definitely worth it.
