Javiera Mena viene a Concepción. (al 592, galla!)

Javiera se presentará este sábado 2 de junio en el Club 592, en Concepción (Chile). Desde hace bastante tiempo que se le espera en esta ciudad, por lo que hay grandes espectativas con respecto a su presentación. Como crítica personal, últimamente me he visto totalmente adicto a las canciones de Prissa, el proyecto electropop de Javiera Mena y Francisca Villela. Creo que me gusta mucho más que el trabajo de Javiera como solista, quizás por el desorden que tiene su disco solista.

El problema que tiene Esquemas Juveniles es que deja la vara altísima con canciones como Al Siguiente Nivel o Como siempre soñé, haciendo pensar que las canciones que vendrán serán igual de fuertes y hasta bailables, cosa totalmente erronea. El disco empieza y termina de forma maravillosa (ojo con Perlas), pero la forma en que las canciones más folk van casi unidas una tras otra fue poco acertada. El orden de las canciones debió haber sido más variado (digamos, una punchi, luego una acústica, y así) para que no sea un disco tan monótono, que si bien ha llegado a ser catalogado como uno de los mejores del 2006, es por las canciones que contiene y no por el orden en que van en el producto final. Probablemente quien ha dado ese tipo de reviews a Esquemas no se dio el trabajo de escuchar el disco de corrido sino oyendo quizás las canciones por separado.

Aún así no deja de sonar bien y ser una de las pocas cosas que suenan increible por el hecho de no sonar realmente "chilenas"; uno siempre tiende a menospreciar lo que es nacional en el ámbito artístico (cine, moda, música, etc). Nada tiende a salir de lo mismo o innovar en cosas que parecen tan simples de idealizar y concretar, pero nadie se atreve a hacer algo distinto, o bien se pierden a sí mismos intentándolo.

Y por eso la Mena rocks.

Y para mi sopresa buscando noticias de Javiera, ahora ella se encuentra grabando el video para "Al Siguiente Nivel", y además pronto saldrá la edición japonesa de Esquemas Juveniles con bonus track incluido. Uf! La zorra más iva. :)



Zwei: Chicas Electro-Rockeras.

Pasan los días y me encuentro revisando cds viejos y compilados mp3 del año del kiwi, dándome cuenta que tengo mil cosas que alguna vez solía escuchar día y noche, y ahora difícilmente pesco o he vuelto a poner en el discman (asi es, nada de iPlop ni cosas raras :P... tengo DEMASIADOS cds, por lo que siento que es lo que más me sirve). La cosa es que ahora me he vuelto nuevamente adicto a Zwei.

Zwei es un duo de chicas formado por Ayumu (voz) y Megu (bajo), cuyos trabajos musicales son producidos por Simon Le Bon de Duran Duran. El estilo de ellas es pop/rock con aires electrónicos, aunque la imágen visual que han presentado la mayoría de las veces es más punk que otra cosa, pero su música es otro tema. La voz de Ayumu es muy poderosa, cabe mencionar que antes de cantar en Zwei, ella era parte de la banda Cherry Feel, que sería algo así como una versión japonesa femenina de Aerosmith. Los arreglos de las canciones son muy delicados y agresivos a la vez, mezclando violines con bases electrónicas y guitarras eléctricas.

Me gustan mucho los looks de ellas en los videos, aunque en esos días Ayumu no dejaba de usar sus gafas. Ahora que se han cambiado de sello discográfico (antes VAP, ahora Universal Music) las chicas han optado por un cambio de look quizás algo drástico, pero a la vez bastante llamativo.

En mi próxima columna quisiera hablar de chicas como sifow y Mai, que si bien son japonesas no muy exitosas, se han ganado bastante respeto gracias a internet.

It's raining, i'm sick, and my throat is killing me. I was happy because the week finished and i've got no homeworks or difficult tests to study for... I was quite bored on soulseek and downloaded All of Your Love (A Capella) by Hellogoodbye, and it turned to be a catchy version of the original song, so i started remixing it using The FAT Tuareg 1.5 (my favourite remixing software) and i must say i'm pretty happy with the final result.
