Sounds about right. I haven't played Ninja Gaiden, but DMC? Really? I thought DMC has a pretty good plotline, though I haven't played them much, mostly just spoiled shit off wikipedia! Well, though I've seen a fair number of films, I wouldn't really call myself an avid fan. I tend to watch more unknown crap off IFC and whatnot rather than pay attention to popular films. As such, I actually haven't seen The Dark Knight. I have it, just never watched it.

Motherfuck! Where do you get the money for all that shit rofl? Chrono Trigger is bloody excellent; I played it back on the SNES. Catherine and Tales of Graces are supposed to be epic too. Hey I'm sure you probably already told me your opinion on this but I can't remember; what'd you think of GoW's plot?

yep, I think (or hope at least) that Square will start incorporating the dialogue choices in further games, and done better of course. I've been playing Fallout 3; it's got a pretty good story so far, though the poor characterization still bugs me. Definitely better than Oblivion and the like, plot-wise. You might wanna check it out if you haven't played it. Oh, do you ever torrent games? Lul

Oh another thing that sucks is the characterization suuuucks! Most WRPGs allow you to design your character and pretty much "develop" the character through dialogue choices. That's great for roleplaying, but I can't think of a single game like that where I actually gave a crap what happens to the MC! Compared to say FFX or FFVII: CC which have huge sobfest endings. Dialogue options are cool though, kind of wish JRPGs would find a way to incorporate that without making characterization suffer. The way 13-2 did it was a good start!

"if you're into that" - If I didn't know better, I'd think you've never seen my profile on here rofl. But yeah I agree. Though, IMO, 13 is among the better stories in the series. It also kinda bugs me how the battle systems in WRPGs are over-simplified too often. Even action RPGs like the Tales series or KH have more complicated battle systems than, say, Oblivion/Skyrim/etc.

Hmm I was never really able to get into Judas Priest, dunno why. Prog-thrash? Like Symphony X's latter stuff? I might not like it then rofl. Yep, FF has had quite a few tearjerker moments though! I don't think I need to remind anybody of the Aerith death scene (though I knew about it ahead of time so it didn't phase me much). All right, another question: WRPGs or JRPGs and why?

Haha all right, got it. I don't have any of those as of yet and I'm looking for some really elite albums to get, that's why I was wondering. Never really listened to Megadeth much cause I'm not a huge thrash fan, need more from Maiden (as you already noticed), still need to check out that Sirenia album, never listened to Epica much either (their new album is on my list though - how good is it?), and I never heard of Dark Empire at all! To be honest, I cried manly tears at the end of FFX. Fuck, it was depressing!

Collecting cards is more worthwhile with real cards though rofl. I don't feel the same value in virtual cards. Fuck if I sold my entire YGO card collection I could probably get a grand or so out of it. But actually I didn't know that, since you know... haven't bought a YGO game since GBA era. Are they wifi too?

I've heard. Apparently D3 is a hard game period though; I saw a comparison to Dark Souls rofl. Well, there's other stuff on the 3DS that looks badass too, and as I've said before, the majority of KH "spin-offs" are just as much as main games as 1 and 2 were. Either way it looks awesome. I actually hope they get remakes the way CoM did on the PS2 though!

lolololol I don't see that happening, unfortunately. :\ And anyway, I'm fine with it. I like some console exclusivity. You know what I've noticed? There's a recurring theme in FF music; the antagonist's theme *has* to be fucking epic. Seriously. Golbez's theme = epic. Exdeath's theme = epic. Kefka's theme = epic (especially Dancing Mad). Sephiroth's theme (all of them) = epic. Can't remember Ultimecia and fuck Kuja, but Jecht's theme = epic (and let's not forgot Otherworld; that song practically helped get me into metal when I was a kid). Point is, even if the rest of the soundtrack sucks, the antagonist's theme shall rule something fierce!

Hm, it comes with the PSP games too? Sweet. Meh, I liked that theme. I'll take inconsistent variety ahead of the same thing a hundred times over any day. D: It's a moot point regardless, 'cause FF's music has gone downhill since Nobuo Uematsu left. XIII-2's soundtrack is the best since IMO, but still not as good as VI/VII/VIII/X as I've said before. I think Versus XIII will have a far superior soundtrack thanks to Yoko Shimomura; she's a fantastic composer as well!

Tsukigasa
I may be mistaken, but didn't you already play through the GoW games? Why rebuy them? xD And dude, I liked XIII-2's soundtrack. It was WAY better than XIII's. XIII's soundtrack was boring as hell, and all mostly the same. XIII-2 was a lot more diverse. I agree though, Caius's theme is great.

That's a shame. Nah man, that's why I was excited for the scroll. My lok was previously LV18! It took awhile, but I ended up getting the hang of it. I still stay out of dungeons for the most part though, plus there's the WoW wiki to help with learning a character. I didn't need the transfer myself; I only really play with one other person, and he's in the same realm as me. How much is it otherwise, anyway?

Haha one game at a time mate. I'll probably start with the first one on PSN, though I really prefer physical copies when possible, but it's worth over 200 dollars new....20 dollars used. Fucking rip off, I tell ya what. I'll see what I can do. Fuuuuck, too many games! I need to get Tales of Graces F still as well...Not sure if you're familiar with that series.

Actually, I haven't. That's another series of games that I haven't paid much attention to due to all of the stealth I kept hearing about. I should probably give them a chance too. Where do I start? I hear people argue whether to play in chronological order or the order the stories take place.

Tsukigasa
Yeah, it was done well. That'd be great. I don't really see Caius as a villain so much anyway. Though admittedly it was kind of a big "fuck you" to them. All that bullshit they struggle through to fix the timeline, and it's like Caius was just playing them. It's kind of funny. Square doesn't have the balls to do that again.

Square loves their happy endings, so I'd say it's entirely plausible. I don't think Serah'd die again, given that Etro's dead and the world is consumed in Valhalla. Who knows. I personally was waiting to see Noel just up and disappear. Given that he is born in a future that should not have been, and they supposedly "corrected" the timeline... that's usually how it works.

Yep, I agree. IMO, XIII has a better plot, but everything else in XIII-2 is better. I wish they hadn't pretty much removed Haste from the game though. That's always my favorite buff, but it's so hard to come by here (aside from Preemptives of course, and that's pretty nice). I just platinum'd my game; the secret ending was a bit disappointing. I was like, "All that work and this is what I get?" It is a bit typical, but we'll see what happens. I can already tell you though that if they do add a continuation, it'll bring Serah back (they have the perfect plot point for it) as well as releasing Vanille and Fang from crystal stasis. Probably Lightning too, though it'd be cool if they just left her there, sort of having her take Etro's place.

I do, but the way I see it, Kefka's goal was entirely to become "god-like" and dominate the world... which he achieved. It's too early to see what they're gonna do with it, but I'm still betting on some kind of continuation. I haven't seen the secret ending yet, but I heard Caius is alive in it... so.....yeeeaah. Now, here's the ultimate question: which game has a better plot? XIII or XIII-2?
Åtgärder
-
Tsukigasa
Well first, I'd like to point out that Kefka technically achieved what he wanted as well. So Caius is the second villain in the series to succeed, and the first to live at the end of it :P. But, eh, that's kind over-analyzing it IMO. I'm definitely expecting an ending DLC or XIII-3. Toriyama hinted in an interview that there'll be a DLC ending, and "Final Fantasy XIII-2" was already registered... I know they made up some stupid trademark excuse, but I seriously think they were so quick to register it because they planned on another sequel. I would've been plenty happy with them leaving the story as it is though, and letting fans figure out what happens next. It's a great ending as is.

He really is a good villain, but what really made me amazed by him is how he's constantly one step ahead of everyone else.... when you finally beat it (if you haven't already), you'll see what I mean. I see you didn't do much of the optional stuff as it became available.... I did all of it I possibly could as I could, resulting in a very easy game. Five starred each of the final battles easily. >_< But yeah, I don't see why people are complaining that it's recycling too much. It is incomplete though. Those greedy bastards were planning scenario DLCs while it was still in development. Fuck, it pisses me off when companies do that BS. Also planning to have the characters be able to change outfits from the very beginning, but not including even ONE change of clothes in game.... all DLC. DAMN THEM!
Åtgärder
-
Tsukigasa
Sorry, I'm about to beat the game now. It's not nearly as long as it was advertised to be; I've got 138/160 fragments and one story area left, and I've only 49 hours of playtime. >_> The opening is great, but I'm still not convinced on the characters' backstories as being well crafted. The story is good enough though, and it definitely gets better near the end of the game. The whole Paradox Ending thing is great too. How far into the game are you now? Fuck, I go onto the Gamefaqs XIII-2 board to look up a question, and I see it filled with more whining bitches complaining that XIII-2 used "recycled monsters and areas," or that the game's end was "inconclusive" (can't say anything about that yet), or whatever.... good lord, FF fans have to be the whiniest group of douchebags I have ever seen. No matter what Square does with the game, it's being criticized!
Åtgärder
-
Tsukigasa
Eh, remember that XIII's story was criticized a lot by people online too. That said, I liked the story of the last game a lot more so far. There was a lot more emotion and better character development. I don't know how far in I am, but there's not much of either of those yet. I like the way the game uses time travel and time paradoxes, but as you can expect with a time story.... it's really fucking confusing. I'm struggling to piece together most of it, but I guess that's what keeps it interesting.
Åtgärder
-
Tsukigasa
Damn, I forgot about that. I don't think you'll be disappointed. So far every aspect is better than the first game - except maybe the story (and I suspect I'm about half way through) isn't quite as good. Not yet anyways. I don't wanna spoil it for you so I won't say much, but it really is quite good.
