How many artists you count is upto you, as long as it's enough to give a good idea of the diagnosticts to give you a pattern. I, am going to do 35 artists because in my last.fm list, all except number 35 I have listened to over 100 times since joining.

I am interested to find out personally because I believe the amount of British music I listen to is shockingly low.

So, now it's summer and I'm sitting here thinking "where the fuck has the year gone?" Modern Life is War seems like only yesterday. Updates? I've done a festival now, and most of the shows I've been to have been in London since Norwich has no music venues anymore.

Also, two of the bands I said would be making an impact this year are splitting up. One I have already seen live this year and the other I will see on their final tour. RIP Broken Social Scene and Blacklisted.

Right, so here's the second part of my blog/article/list/opinion/whatever. I feel I should start by reiterating:

At this point, I also feel I should give a mention to those who have missed out and why.

Well, they are renowned for being an incredible live act, let alone one of the heaviest bands ever, and yet still I managed to ignore Isis here. This is probably because I'm concentrating on albums that are slightly more "conventional" as it were. I also noticed not long after compiling…

These, are my ten favourite albums that are too agressive to be conventional, too intelligent to be run-of-the-mill, to fast-paced to get your head around in just one listen.

Yeah, I've jsut finished reading 'High Fidelity' on holiday. blame that.

1. You and Me - Just incredible. Although actually the ultimate 'anti-pop song' (like constantine, although this is much better) this is three minutes of simple, brooding pop, with some pissed off vocals and guitar distortion to fit the mood perfectly. The lyrics are simplistic, but tell it EXACTLY how it is 'I've been so down lately, you've been so low lately, nothing ever seems to work out, for you, and me.'

Dungeness
Further proof that 'heavy' music is ratehr stale of late, in that, this (and blacklisted) have released the only truly decent album's of tehir genre's for quite a few months. Dungeness is stunning, both, heavy, angry punk rock mixed with layered, intelligent post-rock, and their british!
