Hi, thanks for the add, even though our shared interest is only HIGH! I totally agree with your Deftones being at BDO and not Soundwave, seems strange even now. At least there is a sideshow! :)

I want to wish you a very happy New Year and wish you energy to fulfill your goals. Do you have any New Years resolutions? It's getting colder here, but no snow yet. My uncle was in town for this past two weeks and we drank a lot of red wine and champagne :) I took your advice on creating sites for people and charities for free, and I already have a couple takers. I think it'll be a great experience and I'll get recommendations also. Hel sounds great - is it going to be a business trip? Have a great week!

Hey, so sorry for replying late again, just finished updating the site I'm working on: matiko.us, it's a gallery site for my aunt's paintings... The site is very basic, but I think for an artist's page it looks nice. I used flash and jquery on a couple pages as well. So this is the first entry into my "folio" :) I've been getting a hang of Joomla! I want to find people who need a site so I can really apply what I've learned. I want to give Wordpress and Drupal a try also. So you do marketing? What's your field of specialty? I got interested in design through a brief job at a marketing firm here :) So Winter's close now, and it looks like it will snow soon. My guess is it's getting warmer now where you live.

No snow in Winter huh? I know all about that - San Francisco is one of those cities where the closest you get to snow is if it's sleeting for a few hours :) I'm learning more php - I installed Joomla the other day and tested it - I really like the simplicity of it. Web design becomes more and more complicated every year with all the new technologies so I need to keep up and learn more :) SF plans are still in effect, but I might have to wait a bit more for the visa : / Job vacancies are getting more elusive, so I'm still at the bank for now... but lurking for web design jobs on the forums :) The new header looks better, but I'm still using Stylish skin to cover up the overwhelming white space. Btw, have you seen this? http://lastfm.zage.org.uk/ It brought back some memories: I really want last.fm to look like that again :( How's the universal scrobbler working out?

Hey, sorry it took me so long to get back to you - I took a little vacation to the sea but took all my music with me :) I've been messing around with xampp and testing some log-in scripts. I want to learn more. The other day I tried to install Amarok for a change. I installed KDE and even played some sudoku but only ran Amarok once successfully. I wanted to try it because I hear all the good things about it. Maybe soon there'll be a version that Vista can handle :) I hope you're doing well. How's the Winter been?

Lol, to learn and discard is my specialty :) The tutorials proved to be more advanced-level, but I am going to use them once I get the basics down. So far I have created a few buttons and images which I'll upload to my aunt's site soon. I'm also learning php and just installed apache on my computer. It's really exciting :) Did you try imeem? I hope last.fm doesn't sink now that the founders are gone... The newest update where you have to go to track page to play it is horrible - they've removed the music from the artist page to increase click rates. I don't like where it's going. Has the Winter kicked in full gear? Our Summer hasn't quite, and we're still getting a fair amount of rain. I do hope it's not a super-hot Summer like it was last year :)

So you're well-versed in Java, that is very cool. I too have a few cassettes and I can't find that music on any other medium so I'll try to digitize those soon. Have you found any worthwhile last.fm alternatives? Some find Deezer.com similar, but the uniqueness of last.fm's radio and scrobbling, as well as the social aspects would be hard to match. How is the weather out there? Here it finally feels like Spring, getting warmer and sunnier.

Sorry for a late reply - I had a rough workweek and I've been looking for a new job more aggressively now... Thanks for the link - vectortuts is super - i can see right off the bat 2 tutorials I could use to improve my aunt's site :) I'm reading up on Illustrator and I think later on I'll take a course to put it all in practice. Were you successful at scrobbling vinyl? I used to own quite a few records myself before I moved and only kept a few special ones. I tried digitizing them using Audacity but it came out glitchy and I gave up. I think a lot of people here are already looking for sites similar to last.fm. Libre.fm is in beta stage so if last.fm becomes a cold and desolate place I'll move there :) I agree that they should make everyone pay if they're making a paid service. I think this will hurt independent artists even more, so they too will look for other means to promote their music... What have you been up to? Sorry for the super long shout :)

Medium compatibility, yes! That's right, I almost forgot that you just had Summer over there :) It's getting warmer here, trees and birds are livening up, and the heater isn't on 24/7 anymore so I'm happy :) So far, I'm planning on heading back in about a year, possibly no later than June, and I'm excited because two of my best friends are renting a flat over there together and I'll be living with them when I arrive :)

Om mig

It's so refined;
This little death

:( Disappointed with the new layout... The more I use this the more I miss the old layout, the header, the weekly neighbours, the ability to see things at one glance with the 3 column layout, the smaller media player, and the quilt for the Recently Listened Tracks...

Want to see what I'm talking about?
http://lastfm.zage.org.uk/user/Saphrina/

(Aaargh! The tabs are killing me - I liked being able to see the related artists on the side... :( )

I'm curious to see what the response will be. Not all is bad, it would be nice if you could select how large you want the library images to be... however I'm happy to forgo many of the new features for the old layout...

--

I've grown up with a quite a broad range of music, which explains the mix of some unrelated artists in my scrobbling, although I do have a penchant for alternative music, as large an umbrella of music that might encompass.

That being said, I'm always interested in expanding my musical repertoire, and I think last.fm is ideal to do just that. (Currently this thought is superseded by http://8tracks.com, my new addiction.)

As if the day & setting at Havest Festival's—The Gathering was not perfect enough... Complete crowd silence during Portishead's rendition of Wandering Star. Still speechless.

Oh & Matt Berninger's wild run into the crowd, tearing out the mic lead at the end (thanks tech guy for elbowing me in the head... twice). Must of had something to do with his non-euphemistic desire of getting drunk & wanting to touch rhino horns next door at the Open Range Zoo. Heh.
