Thing 9) was my confirmation that the Open Mike Eagle song was really good.

You should show The White Diamond by Herzog at Filmsoc. Literally the best film ever.

I saw another Thing which reminded me of you today, but I can't recall exactly what it was (I never do remember what I actually mean to tell you...)

Thing 2) also has a really good mobile phone app, so you can learn German ANYWHERE.

Thing 6) I'm pretty sure this is the best coffee I've ever had. Thing 7) If you and Cesca are both getting Aeropress', this is the best method I've yet found. I recommend combining Thing (6) with (7).

Sophie Lea. Several things: Thing 1) Easy to understand origami instructions. Thing 2) If you still want to learn German, I've been teaching myself on this website, which is free/easy/fun. If you make an account, you can add me using the username "Shorton_". I'm getting better at German. I think I could easily order coffee (naturally the most important of all German phrases). Thing 3) Thanks for the links on Twitter. Glad you got back to Liverpool safely. I arrived back in Hull today. I am exhausted from the car journey (why does that happen?). Thing 4) Sorry for not replying to all those shouts you left. I'm always pleased to hear from you. Thing 5) Good luck with the remainder of University. I know you'll do great.

Sorry for the million spelling mistakes in my messages from the other night. I don't know what happened. Wine. Perhaps.

My lecturer today told the story of a stonemason from Liverpool, who as a boy worshipped in the Anglican Cathedral (what then existed of it, anyway), and who for his entire life worked on the construction of the main building, only retiring when the building was eventually completed in the late 70s. It was his life's work. My lecturer used it as an example of the kind of true artistry which Ruskin (the subject of our lecture) would have admired, an art performed out of piety or spiritual calling, rather than the kind of profit-driven or commercialized art which Ruskin so detested, and which we see more and more of today. I recalled our walk through Liverpool, and the Cathedral itself, and the tea I had on Bold Street, and probably didn't listen to the next five minutes of the lecture. Damned nostalgia.

The Garlic King used to possess evil powers, and would haunt the dreams of anybody who dared challenge his authority. He's since been defeated by Sebastian. Sebastian is an orange from the 15th Century who believes himself to be a Knight. Since his defeat, and the resulting lobotomy, The Garlic King has used his magic powers for good, healing other ageing fruit and vegetables. Sebastian is currently in cryogenisis in Lec, our Russian-born freezer, who purrs in affection when he is closed. Sebastian was aided in his victory by Adrian, who is an apple who wears a space suit made from tin foil and cling film. He's in suspended animation at the moment, too.
