I hate these normally when they're on myspace, but this way I am avoiding making a list of crap I need for uni!

01. How did you get into #31?

The 3rd #29 entry is close enough to #31, so The Decemberists. To be honest, I don't really remember. I think I read something saying that Colin Meloy was "one of the best modern songwriters", and regardless of the truth of that statement, it led me to them.

02. What was the first song you ever heard by #22?

Ah, Neighbourhood #1! I remember back when I was getting into music in a big way I'd go around torrent websites trawling for interesting bands and I downloaded this on a whim and then stuck it on. This song was the first one that played and I just sat there listening intently to the rest of the album at some ungodly hour.

03. What's your favorite lyric by #41 ?

No #41, but the 2nd #40 would be The Clash. I really like that line from Guns Of Brixton about,

"When they kick at your front door / How you gonna come? / With your hands on your head / Or on the trigger of your gun"

It just sounds so menacing, it's brilliant. I also really love the screech in London Calling, although they do overuse it in some other songs.

04. What is your favorite album by #49 ?

Stars of the Lid? I've only two albums by them, but The Tired Sounds Of is just fantastic. I've yet to really listen to the newest one yet.

05. How many albums by #13 do you own?

Jens Lekman! Physically, none =/. On my computer, 3 albums and 7 EPs. I think a couple of those albums are mostly compilations of the various EPs and such anyway though, so I'm not entirely sure.

06. What is your favorite song by #50 ?

Rubies is my favourite Destroyer song. Mind you, this was a hard choice, that album's fantastic.

07. Is there a song by #4 that makes you sad?

Elliott Smith is just about the most appropriate artist for this ever. Most of XO, Either/Or, dozens of other songs really.

08. What is your least favorite song by #15 ?

I can't really single out a least favourite song by Modest Mouse. I'm not really a fan of the shorter stuff on Sad Sappy Sucker, so maybe something like Mice Eat Cheese

09. What is your favorite song by #5

I have a lot of favourite songs by Animal Collective, but I think my favourite is something like Bees or Peacebone. It's all very good though.

10. Is there a song by #6 that makes you happy?

Red House Painters are a pretty depressing band, but I really like Strawberry Hill (possibly barring the first minute of dissonant guitar arpeggios) or the big shoegaze rockmonster version of Mistress. Michael makes me happy in a bittersweet type of way, or All Mixed Up.

11. What is your favorite album by #40 ?

Argh, I have 4 #40s! I will list them all I suppose. Transatlanticism probably, it was my first DCFC album. London Calling is amazing, so that. Homogenic or Vespertine, I cannot decide between the two for Björk. As for Nick Drake, I really like Pink Moon, it's so cohesive and perfect. Some of the others just seem to lack that kind of general atmosphere.

12. What is your favorite song by #10 ?

My favourite Low songs are probably either Do You Know How To Waltz or When I Go Deaf or maybe slow.

13. What is a good memory you have involving #33 ?

Well, it's Beck as he is the 2nd #32. I remember talking to some good friends whilst listening to Ramshackle, it just really conjures up a kind of mood for me.

14. What is your favourite song by #37 ?

Argh, duplicates. Lover, You Should Have Come Over - I could listen to this on repeat for many hours. I've done so in the past! Powder Blue is just pure gorgeousness encapsulated in a song, kudos to Elbow for doing so. No One's Gonna Come is such a good, Beatlesian tune and it's great live even when it's just him and a guitar too.

15. Is there a song by #19 that makes you happy?

Architecture in Helsinki are pretty much musical SSRIs, so anything by them. The Cemetary and The Owls Go are particularly great.

16. How many times have you seen #24 live?

Never, although I've seen Joanna Newsom on youtube and she appears to be excellent, so I'd definitely like to go and see her live at least once.

17. What is the first song you heard by #23 ?

I listened to the album after getting into a big Cap'n Jazz so was quite surprised - pleasantly so, but still. Never Meant would have been the first one.

18. What is your favorite album by #11 ?

It's pretty much You Forget It In People, it's got so many great songs on.

19. Who is your favorite member of #1 ?

My favourite member of Rilo Kiley is, never not going to be Jenny Lewis. All there is to it I'm afraid!

20. How many times have you seen #14 live?

Never =(. The most I could hope for is Morrissey going to a Modest Mouse concert and then some sort of impromptu reunion occuring. It's definitely an outside shot.

21. What is a good memory you have involving #45 ?

I just recently got into Okkervil River in a proper way, so nothing yet really.

22. What is your favorite song by #16 ?

Julie Doiron, ah yes! All Their Broken Hearts. I can't seem to find the demo-y version of this song I heard though, the one I've heard is sorta different =/,

23. What is the first song you heard by #47 ?

Shady Lane is the first Pavement song I heard, and remains a favourite. Invalid Litter Dept was my first At the Drive-In song, and that too was a good place to start.

24. What is your favorite album by #3 ?

Probably Fabulous Muscles or A Promise.

25. What is your favourite song by #18 ?

M. Ward's best song in my opinion is Chinese Translation

26. What is the first song you heard by #38 ?

Powder Blue.

27. What is your favourite lyric that #21 has sung?

Bright Eyes is often very full of some eye-rollingly melodramatic lyrics, but I really like Bowl of Oranges:

"Baby don't worry cause now I got your back / And every time you feel like crying, I'm gonna try and make you laugh / And if I can't if it just hurts too bad, then we will wait for it to pass / and I will keep you company through those days so long and black"

I dunno, it makes me feel fuzzy :3.

28. What is your favourite song by #2 ?

of Montreal are a band of many incarnations. I really like stuff from their latest direction, like The Past Is A Grotesque Animal or back when they were sunny Beatles impersonators, When You're Loved Like You Are.

29. What is the first song you heard by #32 ?

See America Right or Sexx Laws.

30. What is your favorite song by #8 ?

Definitely Colors and the Kids or American Flag

31. How many times have you seen #17 live?

Never, on both counts. Camera Obscura and M. Ward both seem like they'd be decent live though.

32. Is there a song by #44 that makes you happy?

Our Life Is Not a Movie or Maybe or A Hand to Take Hold of the Scene or maybe
John Allyn Smith Sails

33. What is your favorite album by #12 ?

Pedro the Lion have some great albums, Achilles Heel and It's Hard To Find A Friend.

34. What is the worst song by #29 ?

I can't really think of one for this section actually. Hmm. I'm not really a fan of the Pipettes' version of, White Christmas but maybe that's because it's not Christmas =p.

35. What was the first song you heard by #34 ?

She's a Thief

36. What is your favorite album by #42 ?

I answered this already >=( Homogenic or Vespertine.

37. How many times have you seen #39 live?

I saw Sondre Lerche live one time at the Oxford academy - he was pretty decent, yeah.

38. What is your favorite album by #36 ?

Cast of Thousands, probably.

39. What is the first song you heard by #28 ?

Midoriyama all kind of fades into one, I'm not sure to be honest. It's good relaxing music though.

40. What is your favourite album by #7?

If You're Feeling Sinister or The Boy With The Arab Strap.

God, I got halfway through then and thought, "this is so repetitive, what am I even doing it for?" I remembered the alternative though, organisational stuff, planning stuff, and grimly continued.

No-one's gonna read this anyway =p.
