Wrapping up the 3rd Round

I kinda never finished up these lists the last time I did it, and left the last two weeks hanging. But they were done, and now I'm starting a fourth version of these, so I feel obliged to put them out there for completeness' sake. So:

Week 9: The Dance Week
Shakin'
And She Was
Oxford Comma
Feel Good Inc.
Supermassive Black Hole
Superstylin'
The Fallen
Blue Monday
Ramalama (Bang Bang)
Gronlandic Edit

In case you hadn't guessed that I was the whitest of white people yet, the choice of what I call 'dance music' probably sealed it… I like to bounce! Special notes - the Talking Heads track is the only time I've ever cheated and reset a song's play count to let them into one of these lists… but it was the one that inspired this theme, while I was 'grooving' in an extreme lame manner in the mouse room one day. Really. Of Montreal, that song was their final encore when I saw them, and the whole room started white kid twisting along. So good. And Oxford Comma completely rips off the start of a Tom Petty song, but is brilliant anyway for the subject matter. Oh, and I wanted to put Superstylin in way back in the first round, but I'd played it too much back then. Finally!

Week 10: American Week
Devil's Haircut
Boy In the Bubble
Lies
The Wrong Way
I Just Want to Make Love to You
Shady Lane
Salute Your Solution
Sweet Jane
Box of Rain
Purple Haze

Usually these lists break down somewhat evenly between the US and Britain, shading of course toward the Mother Country… but having mostly run out of themes and wanting to get that Black Keys song in the same place as Shady Lane (owner of one of my favourite lyrics ever: You've been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation of the sequel to your life), it occurred to me to make it an all Yank thing. Except for all those Southerners in there. Anyway, it was specifically chosen to sample as many decades as possible, and looking it, I realise it massively reflects my father… Graceland and American Beauty were my childhood, Hendrix and Muddy Waters were big too. TV on the Radio comes from flyboy though, and they are crazy awesome New Yorkers! Yay!

All right, hopefully soon, I will actually get on to the new lot! Whee, musical lists!
