The Spotlight - The Reign of Kindo (from aurality.org)

These guys are not really new to the music scene. Most of the band has been in it for a couple years, at least, since they are the mostly intact remains of the disbanded indie poster child This Day & Age, minus the vocalist and plus a new bassist.

Considering the lineup similarity to TD&A, it's kind of shocking that their music changed so rapidly when they became The Reign of Kindo. The dreamy, atmospheric alternative sounds of This Day & Age have been succeeded by smooth, progressive, high-class jazz with an alternative spin that you're sure to enjoy.
Not missing a single note, The Reign of Kindo's songs flow like water, with catchy lyrics that are easy to relate to and a fantastic, just-right vocalist to boot. Instead of putting too much focus on the vocals, their production is spot-on too - the vocals sound like just another instrument over the other layers of the song, as opposed to the focus while the instruments get pushed to the back. This creates the smooth, relaxing texture that is sure to please almost any music listener.

Thus far, they have released one EP, featuring five songs that showcase their talent and what's to come quite well. At only $5.94 on iTunes, it's a steal. It's also available at One Eleven Records' own store.

Go check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Their first full-length album is slated for release on August 26th, 2008.
