  • So I've given the new bloc party album a listen

    21 okt 2008, 17:11

and I really didn't take any of it in.

Still a big ok at the Mercury video. Think I need to give it another listen to absorb some more of the words but what does any of it have to do with the government or anything? just sounds like another flux-dance-song to me. Which I don't mind too much. It just isn't what I associate Bloc with.

The political whining of the previous album was bearable but after a while I just started to not care.

Silent Alarm remains their best album. The main worries of that album seemed to revolve around people not liking chocolate, not political incorrectness.
  • Small confession..

I defiantly didn't put on I Get Along, leave my room, then crash on someones bed for the night. One missed lecture and ~365 songs later I realise my error.

    Lucky me.

The lowdown: my sister has got her own account which sort of shows how little I listen to one track Over and Over Again. That and she has an attention span of a fish, so she has proably moved of Oasis by now. :P

Mostly just for my reference, but it also alows me to show off these lists!

      50 Spoon - I Turn My Camera On 35

I was going to say something like 'same old, same old', but then I saw that one of my songs (the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah one) had somehow got into the top 5 tracks!? I also saw that my sister has practically stopped listening to the other songs (perhaps, the only reason it got in).

This is good and bad. Its good because I myself might now have more of a say in the top tracks but it is bad because she has somehow taught herself to download songs *shock horror*. Many songs. :(

I swear that a second ago I only had just over 19K tracks, but I suppose the servers must have sorted a load of my tracks.

Anywho, just want to update and post a copy of a silly thing I did on this topic.

    Artists:
    1 The Libertines 944
    2 Snow Patrol 664
    3 Hot Hot Heat 462
    4 Coldplay 436
    5 Sigur Rós 409

    5 Maxïmo Park - Graffiti 51
    ---
    50 Snow Patrol - Ways & Means 28

Chart wise not a hell of a lot has changed, apart from the fact that my sister has worked out how to download music... the little.. and I've expanded my CD collection by several multiples.

Oh and here is a big list that compares my artists in my charts with the ones in the last.fm charts and then works out the 'overlap'. I'm sort of hoping things will be very different next time I do this:

Artist / position in my chart - position in last.fm chart = Difference

    Radiohead / 70 - 1 = 69
    The Beatles / 11 - 2 = 9

I suppose this really doesn't mean much to me or any one.

I don't have a clue what to do with this so I'll just post the top 5 of whatever. I've left out most of the links to hopefully save annoyance in peoples recommendation things.

    Artists:
    1 The Libertines 589
    2 Snow Patrol 566
    3 Hot Hot Heat 378
    4 Bloc Party 343
    5 The Coral 285

    Tracks:
    1 Snow Patrol - Run 65
2 Maxïmo Park - Apply Some Pressure 54
3 Oasis - Let There Be Love 50
4 The Ordinary Boys - Little Bitch 44
5 Hot Hot Heat - Goodnight Goodnight 40

Perhaps the only thing I can say is how much my sister listens to the same track, over and over again...
  • Two new albums

    19 okt 2005, 15:38

Well... they aren't exactly new, but I got both Good Feeling and When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up for a bargain price of £6 at MVC, which, I guess kind of makes up for the fairly adverage quality of the albums. :)
  • Babyshambles gig.

    15 okt 2005, 14:55

I went to the Babyshambles gig at the Shrewsbury Music Hall (in Shrewsbury) on the 1st of October. It was pretty decent, even though Peter Doherty took his time getting on stage I didn't care too much - I was in good company.

Also, the previous two supporting acts - Agent Blue and some other band (strongly connected to Babyshambles I hear) where great! So great, I've gone along and bought most of Agent Blue's current singles.

Anyway, people kept on shouting "Wheres the ice cream!", which was quite funny at first but got a bit confusing/tedious... anyway know what that is about? Because I don't.
