Thanks to last.fm I found this awesome band called God Is an Astronaut and somehow I just can't get enough of them. They remind me of Sigur Rós, Mogwai, Red Sparowes and many other great post-rock bands. It seems I'm totally trapped to listening to all my life. Somehow I've just noticed that heavy and alternative metal doesn't do it for me the way it used to. I guess I've grown old 8(

Aye, I know what you mean. A year ago I'd mainly have metal topping my charts, now it seems im listening to more mellow bands.

Totally Agree! Take a look at Godspeed You Black Emperor and The Album Leaf...

I have to agree that with age comes better appreciation for the nuances of music. That said, the majority of music that I'm enjoying these days is either post-rock or indie rock. I see this as a good thing, as I have never been more pleased by the music to which I listen.

Yeah I second the above. Also check out Saxon Shore. They are the best of the lesser-knowns along with GIAA IMO.

I was into nu-metal and now I listen to noise & post-rcok...i'm feeling the same way! Try Rosetta (if you like Isis too...), MGR, Mono and Evpatoria Report.

I know what you mean. I've been loving post rock more and more in the past months, but I can't imagine ditching heavy music entirely. At least not in the near future.

I've been in love with post-rock ever since I first heard Storm by GY!BE few years ago. Before that I only listened to metal. Since then, I've had phases when I get bored to clean guitar based post-rock, but I've always discovered some new band which will return my faith on post-rock. It's my favourite genre even though I listen to many genres. BTW, I found here from irc-galleria, I like your music taste.

I'd have to be in a certain mood to listen to post-rock.

Some of Hammock's songs are like GIAA. Try The Air Between Us and Wish They are very great songs in a similar post-rock style. Hammock is generally waaayyy more ambient on other songs, however.

GIAA and Hammock.. Two bands I've also been aquainted with recently. Very good stuff.. 'All is Violent, All is Bright' and 'Far From Refuge' are my faves from GIAA Favorite Hammock song would have to be 'Blankets of Night' and old? nahhh.. Young at heart, that's what matters.. ;-)
