This randomly happened to me today while I was driving. I was listening to a mix CD containing (parts of) Neaera's Armamentarium and Erykah Badu's New Amerykah, Pt. 1: 4th World War.

Just when I got done listening to Neaera's Synergy through to Liberation, the CD slipped into Erykah's The Cell. Given that both acts are practically polar opposites of each other, you'd never expect the transition to work, but it did and it was the most amazing thing of the day.

I guess it was a nice way to unwind after the brutality that is Armamentarium. For those who haven't heard it yet and think it's a continuation of Neaera's previous sound, you're dead. Wrong. The dominant melody that previously defined them as metalcore is gone, replaced by a punishing sound that (to me) falls under the deathcore umbrella.

BTW, feel free to quote me on this call: recently Blabbermouth reported that All That Remains announced that their new sound would be heavier and darker. I read that as "we're gonna follow Neaera into deathcore." That's my prediction, watch it come true especially since ATR are huge fans of my journal. I don't have any problem at all with ATR's current sound, but hey as long as they don't end up sounding like the abysmal Job for a Cowboy (which is just noise for its own sake) I'll be happy.

But I digress. Of course, leave it to me to put Neaera and Erykah on the same piece of plastic in the first place *eye roll* But hey I love to mix it up. Speaking of which y'all (yes, I am proudly from the Southern United States) need to hear the new G-Unit joint I Like the Way She Do It, it's kvlt.* I promise.
