It has been a while since i treated u guys with the awesome and new to the russian music scene band, called 'Everything Is Made In China'. A very steady, post-rockin'ep was released by them in 2005, there it was, a perfect EP, that i remember sharing with INDIE POISON mates, when the number of mates was about 240-250 :)

Well everything is amazing,, almost nobody knew this band outside Russia, and very little russian listeners knew em :)
I remember getting tons or replies after spreading the Ep among u guys, u said that they rocked, yes they did.
Then one day, it was the 24-th of November 2007, they came to Saint Petersburg for the first time!! Man, i was so stoked!
Before that i had been writing ti them at myspace.com, what was surprising, is the fact that they answered very quick to your e-mails :) that was very pleasant, cuz some other bands can't answer one time in a month :)
So, here i was, 24th of Novemeber, 2007 :) it was great, they were presenting their new Lp, which was recorded in Canada, therefore the quality was top class. I really liked their gig, after which they handled me a free copy of their new LP, called '4' I was the happiest man on earth :)

But you know what's funny?? I didn't really like the CD, the EP was much more post-rock/instrumental :) it was a ripping, rockin' ep, the LP instead was much moree pop,, much more alternative, the post-rock was blown away,, but yes they had some songs taken from the EP, but overall i am bit dissapointed.
Knowing this band for a year now, i have noticed how they went rapidly from undeground to mainstream,, every russian indie kid knows them now. Again we have that story where a truly indie band comes out of the underground,, it's kinda sad for me. These days, i am still chatting with them, but now, they are asking me for help,, they are asking me to make them much more popular,i was like : OK mates, I'll help ya,,,,
but i don't really wanna do that :(

They have gathered some 150 people at their last gig, on the 16th on february,, last time, i only could hardly count 70-80,,, and 150 for a small venue like the club ZOCOLLO is a huge number,,, here , take a peak at these bloodthirsty bastards :

Well, it took me a lot of time to persuade myself to do this. That's why I'm a bit late, cuz it's almost middle of february, as i present to you the list of songs,considered to be the best i have heard in the year 2007.
I have the list for the first time in september, but after reinstalling Windows i lost that list, was very depressed by that! So here i go once again,a different list,different time of year, but same passion put into this article! Have to admit, that some songs in my TOP 51 list were released in mid december,but i love em so much that i had to transfer them into 2007 :)

58) God Is Astronaut - Sunrise In Aries

Never knew this band before, no one reccomended them, but turned out that this band are masters of their genre, maybe not as huge as Mogwai, but they have the balls. Sunrise In Aries and the rest of songs on the 2007-year album are very similar to russian post-rock band's music. Now i clearly where the inspiration came from! Sunrise In Aries, i love this song because of the calm beginning that leads into a powerful play at 0:56! Top stuff.

57) Electrelane - To The East

This song is truly beautiful, the beginning is splending, it's so melodic and catchy as the keyboards set in! I'm not very into the vocals, guess i like this song so much just because of the top class instrumentality and that slight post-punk aroma that twirls around. 'Come back, come back, oh to meee'

56) Bon Iver - Skinny Love

Too bad i discovered Bon Iver at the end of 2007! One of the few folk artist who have captured my attention this year! Bon Iver has a couple of decent songs on his album! When He sings, you can feel the emotions, the angst, the passion! Skinny Love is a classic, it has a kind of soul feeling to it! Love the chorus, with the 'i told you...' part. Come on skinny love, just lacing in.... Gosh, an emotional song, the beauty of it is kept within!

55) YSPWSD! - Teenage Hit Wonder

Well, I have to say that this was my favourite song on the album in february, and i honetsly thought that their album 'Lose All Time' would be my No 1. this year. But time goes, new albums have been discovered! And this track is no longer their top for me! I am keen on YSPWSD! music, those freaky dance-punk songs are so 'IN'.
Love Beckie's voice transformations, especially when she hits the high notes,and the chior in back.This song is still great, but not a wonder no more!

54) Oliver Koletzki - Music From The Heart

So,as usual, as it was the year before, i have some Kitsune featured tracks on my top list. If i listen to dance music, then i listen to Kitsune's compilation. This year's volume 5 was amazing. Oliver Koletzki, some random Dj,who really made this song from the heart. A great tune to dance, a nice song to chill, a great track to put into the top disco songs of the year. The ending gives life to Simian Mobile Disco's 'Love', also a great one. But Oliver's track wins it.

53) We Are Wolves - I Wrote Your Name On A Kite

We Are Wolves's new album is definetely a step forward. The previous LP was very challenging to me and i hope to you. This LP is much more eatable and listenable. The band have revealed many of their skills. I like the song 'Coconut Night'because of the ARCHIE BRONSON OUTFIT fell to it. But more i like 'I Wrote Your Name On A Kite' cuz of the nu rave feel to it. I imagine myself dancing like a freak to this song :) This one is an indie disco mayhem track :) It's very intense, plus the handclaps and the electro glitch noise makes it a very creative track.


52) The Twilight Sad - Mapped, By What Surrounded Them

A bunch of scottish highlanders, called 'The Twilight Sad' came together and released a fucking amazing Lp, one of my faves this year. They play post-rock/shoegaze music that is excellent to the bone. What attracts me, is the scottish accent, damn, it goes so well with the heavy post-rock music the band plays. This track really is a mirror of the title. You can feel the pressure, the fear, when you hear the lyrics about walls and blades and windows. The band have a talant of creating atmospheric effects with their music, the beginning really shows that, the beginning is like a storm coming at you.

51) Calvin Harris - Disco Heat

Fuck, this guy Calvin really knows how to rock the party! But, The LP wasn't splendid, the great disco anthem songs were overshadowed by poor ones. Disco Heat was the first track i've heard, so this one is on my Pc for almost a year. Pure energy, the feet can't stand on the ground when you hear all those beeps and the 'oh oh yeahs':) Without any doubt, this is my disco anthem of the year, and the mainstream disco lovers will dig this for sure!

50) Mooncake - More Oxygen, I Said

Fuck you all, russian post-rock is alive and blooming! You really might feel that this song is very similar to 'God Is An Astronaut's 'one! I Like this one much more! A fine bass line starts the song, as the song builds up pace, the musicians play more vigorously, the drummer puts a higher pace, then all the instruments get involved, then after a short break, the song turns into a monster, at 4:27 begins the best part! Rockin'mayhem baby, i told u fools, russian post-rock is alive! For more Mooncake stuff, just contact me!

49) Black Kids - Hit The Heartbreaks

Knock Knock, who's there? The Black Kids's EP is an amazing one. I really had some trouble, picking out my fave track. But, 'Hit The Heartbreaks' is better than the rest! The Black Kids are considered to be an indie pop outfit, but this track is intense, makes u think bout powerpop. Plus, the singer sings at the top of his lungs. Just like LOVE IS ALL, BLACK KIDS are starting a revolution here, let's wait for their LP! They have the ability to put a smile upon your face :)

48) The Mary Onettes - Void

Just to let you know, The Mary Onettes are my favourite 80's revival band of 2007. Their sound is unique, and so in the past, while meanwhile they are so in, so fresh and new.
This song, called 'Void' is pure rock n roll, the chorus is the real prize winner. But on the other hand, i prefered the calmer songs on their album, that's why, i have 2 Mary Onettes song coming up in the charts!

47) Feist - 1,2,3,4(Van She Tech Mix)

Again Kitsune, again a killer track, this time it's a mix by the famous aussie Van She :) Never listened to Leslie Feist before, but I have to admit, that her voice is very lovely indeed. Feist's voice + Van She's mixing skills together created this amazing dance track. Also a recomendation for all the disco party poopers. You can't go wrong with this song

46) Justice - DVNO

DVNO, 4 capital letters, printed in glod.. bla bla :) The best track on the 'Cross' LP. As u have noticed, there was an invasion of french electro dj and bands this year. Justice were one of the most succesful and popular ones. The album is ok, not splendid though, that's why i chose DVNO as my fave track, because it includes lyrics, almost all the other songs don't. The track is funky and groovy and a bit sexy with an electroclash twist to it. The end is all bass guitar, baby. I really like that part, not very often u get to hear a 30 seconds bass line in a dance song.

45) The Ponys - Exile On My Street

Exile On My Street was very high in my ratings in spring, but suffered a downfall at the end of the year. Dunno why, i guess my tastes have changed. The Lp is a good one, no doubt. And 'Exile On My Street' is short as a shock but sharp as a knife. It's only 2:20 long, but throughout the song, u can feel the intensity, the extreme, the danger. Not for nothing, The Ponys play psychedelic rock music. Exile On My Streer really sticks to their genre.

44) The Field - Everyday

The Field - A Swedish DJ, who has released of the best techno/ambient albums of the year. The album was reviewed by Pitchfork and other music magazines, that's how people drew attentuon on this lad. Ordinary indie kids, who never listened to techno, started to give this album a spin. The result was astonishing, everybody digged his music. Me, too :)
Everyday is a long track, but it doesn't bore you, from the end to the start it goes and goes and goes. The sound takes you to another world, pure ambience and mind freedom. Certainly a feeling that only well balanced track can produce. A huge shout to THE FIELD, the one man who introduced the unintroducable to us.

43) Germans - I Am The Teacher

So glad i have discovered this band. In the similar artist list, bands like Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. were written. Hell no, no way, The Germans are an indie pop outfit, a very creative one. I Am The Teacher is another one of those songs that bring you sunshine on a cloudy day. The lyrics aren't very sophisticated, singing about children, teachers and so on. But that's not what draws attention. The whole song is an indie pop frenzy :), shouts, poppy choir singing, and yet with an 80's flavour, so that's also a plus.

42) The Exploding Boy - Dazed

Post-punk, quality post-punk from music came from many Swedish bands in 2007. Cut City, The Mary Onettes, The Exploding. You know why The Exploding Boy lost to the others? The Lp really has a quite dreadful mainstream feeling, like on the Editors second album. Although some standout tracks are featured on the ablum. Dazed is great, nothing too wicked, simple post-punk music with the right vocals. The voice, yes, the voice draws attention. The Exploding Boy's music just like any other good post-punk revival band, throws u back in time. That 30 year gap never feels so long, thanks to good post-punk revival bands. If u haven't listened to the Lp, then you should give it a try.

41) I Heart Hiroshima - Captain To Captain

Just Like the swedes, the aussies have come up with a couple of class post-punk acts, too. All in all, I Heart Hiroshima sometimes feels more alternative, not a plus, but anyway great music. Captain To Captain is a fast pace track, going wild all the way. The chick's vocals at the end are so punk, while the guy throws some garage punk spices into the song. So the end is the key part, but the song itself is a classic, so play the song till 2:00, and dig out the chick's singin'.

40) The Dolly Rocker Movement - Gypsy Dancer

A huge thanks to my colleague jim_bomb for introducing to me this wonderful psych/rock outfir from australia. Have to confess, that their previous record was much more psychedelic, while their 2007 lp is far more smoother, quieter and more mellow. But their last lp is better, but it was released in 2006. So i chose the song 'Gypsy Dancer' as the best out of the rest. It's quite long, but not bearing that in mind, the echoe singing and the whole psych folk atmosphere are really what i am looking for due to my recent love to psychedelic/alt-country music. So The Dolly Rocker's are my favourite outfit in that genre.

39) Beirut - Cherbourg

Ahhh, good old Beirut. Loving his music from a to z, all his lp's and ep's are trully brilliant. So the 'Flying Cub Cup' Lp also an amazing masterpiece. Most people say that the first lp was much better, but i think that the folks just got use to his balkan folk music. So to my mind, the recent lp is just as good as the old one but not so east-european, u get it?
Cherbourg was in my top charts from the first day that i've heard it. I won't write once again about how talanter Zach Condon is, I'll just say that his deep voice in this songs, sounds sooo great. The horns, the harmonica, the xylophone play quite silently, while Zach sings dramatically fiercly (especially in the chorus). The song slows down at the end, so i am always concentrating on the beginning of this song. Once again Zach a did job. Cheers to Beirut.

38) Okkervil River - Our Life Is Not A Movie, Or Maybe?

That's the question, maybe someone knows the answer? After listening to the song i still can't answer this question, all i can say this that the whole album would be much better if all the songs were somewhat similar to this fantastic track. As you all might have noticed, the voice, yes the emotional singing, a voice almost out of control lead this song into my top of the year. Overall the song is very beautiful, the choir, the piano are a plus. At some moments the song is a bit disturbing, but fuck that, never heard such stuff for a long time.

37)The Whiskers - Felled Forest, Felled Boxer

As i remember i did introduce 'The Whiskers' to my group with this song, but i didn't get the awaited apllause for that. I understand you all, i hated this song at the beginning, but then i found something very special in it. The whole structure, the tension build up is insane. The Whiskers are a weird outfit, can't find much informtaion bout them on the NET. This song reminds me of Liars's weirdness that i have felt listened to their 'Drum's Not Dead' album.
Give this song a dozen of listens, feel the tenseness, as it rises up, hear the peculiar lyrics bout monsters, whores, apocalypses. Dammit, i fucking love this song for it's psych feeling, as the singer wails at the end creating a drone sound. Pure Madness out of control. The best music is always challenging, so i faced a tough challenge here.


36) Maritime - Are We Renegade

Although the new record by Maritime isn't a perfect one, no wow's, no hit singles, but all the tracks are very well played. Here is one standout track that i would like to present : 'Are We Renegade', the track that has that ex-album feeling to it. As always i am charmed by the singer's voice, and the guitar riffs are in 'The Real Maritime's' style . I really worship their ex album, that's why this song is really close to my heart and ears. Enough said, Maritime's indie pop is a gem :)


35) The Chromatics - I Want Your love

Fascinating, truly fascinating how the band's sound changed after a lineup change. Aquring Ruth Radalet was a key step that totally changed he band's sound and music genre. Now, the Chromatics play italo disco/indietronica music(the new lp is just like that), that's why they were featured on 'Italians Do It Better' compilation, that was full of goth disco tracks.
The song 'I Want Your Love' is a very beautiful one, and has a quite hasty pace. Ruth's voice is sexy, sexy and atractive. She sings without any stifness, the melody and her voice flow gently and silently in company with the lo-fi electronica music sounds. The whole song creates if i may a say a black and white atmosphere between hope and desperation. Ace stuff, love the melody here.

34) The Vertigo - A-Song

'You can leave your heart here, you can leave your heart and so am i'.
Although this band is from Saint-Petersburg, they write pretty meaningful and soulful lyrics, backed up by quality drumming and indie guitar sounds.
Overall, 'The Vertigo' are a very popular group in the russian undergound music scene. I visited their gigs twice, and they rocked the house.
What can i say about A-Song? Well you can watch the official video at Last.fm. When i hear their music, i hear a mix of Franz Ferdinand's music with some of the standart brit pop bands, and Placebo's Brian Molko's voice. Yes i really feel that the singer's voice is similar to Brian Molko's . As a whole, The Vertigo are a great outfit, all of u foreign fellas will like em, i hope.

33) Everything Is Made In China - Speed My Way

Once again i am saying these words : Russian post-rock is alive, bitches'. These are almost like the pioneers of russian post-rock. Everything Is Made In China released a stunning Ep in 2005, followed by an lp in 2007, which i got from the hands of their keyboard player :) They are amazing live, they are very pleasant guys. So as i was saying, a stunning Ep was followed but not such a stunning LP. Yes, not because it's bad, it was just not as post-rocky, far more instrumental and alternative. The Song Speed My Way was also featured on the ep, since then i have noticed it's beauty. I remember sharing the ep with my group,, many of u digged it. Speed My Way is truly a great track, so wonderful, beautiful, calm and tender. It's also more instrumental than post-rock, but after all a great effort by the band to record such stuff. The beginning sounds like the 'Twin Peaks' theme :) The song is like a touch of an angel, so soft and so neverending.

32) Cut City - Such Verve

My favourite post-punk outfit of the year 2007 who were discovered in the same year. Saw the lists of the top 10 Lp's of the year by the fellas from my 'INDIE POISON' group, where Cut City's album was mentioned in the top 5 by many people. Never thought that these guys were from SWE, cuz i thought they were another revival post-punk band from the UK, like The Departure. What catches my attention is as always the bass guitar, the bass guitar's solo is longer than the electro one. Big up to the Cut City guys for that! And the favourite part has to the 1:57......, where we can hear some decent singing. So there we have it, Cut City's Such Verve is at number 26, p.s this is not the best song on the lp :)

31) Pooma - If May Starts Tommorow

Just Like Everything Is Made China's song, this one is also a very deep, and beautiful instrumental masterpiece. Only in this case, the vocals are by a woman, who's voice is very similar to somebody..... somebody i can't remember. And on the other hand, Pooma are a shoegaze outfit, and hey hail from Finland. Certainly a huge discovery for me this year, a solid LP by them, that i can share with the others is in my music collection!
This song really reminds me of Larsen's song 'Mother', and almost every other italian post-rock song. The melody is like a winter breeze, meanwhile the chorus is very vital, like a blooming spring flower. This song feels so close to nature, therefore i can not finish this comment without saying again how charming this song is.

30) Passions - Emergency

Say Hello to Kitsune once again, this time say hello to Compilation No. 4 :) Mentioning that i'll say that this song rocks my socks for almost half a year. Passions were a new wave band in the 80's, but now it's a New York DJ, who mixed their song 'Emergency'. Fuck yeah, I'm loving how the bass guitar trebles at the beginning. Any other bass players might feel jealous, listening to that line. And i so fucking dig the explosion at 1:25. Amazing rough electroclash furiosity that will make u sweat :) Funky shit by the NY DJ, huge props to new wave and post-punk mixing Dj's!

29) Letters Letters - Everyone's Afraid Of Fear

Now this one is special, i even can't remember how i found this one, but it's totally amazing. Letters Letters are really undiscovered, hope this song will open your eyes. They play experimental music that may remind you XIU XIU's experimentality and shattered voice, HOOD's sound but with more tension, WOODS's lo-fi guitars and GANG GANG DANCE's percussion. A perfect mix, heh? This one is an amazing song, it's a spooky one, makes me think of Carla Bozulich and Beach House, cuz are also spooky to me.
Really nervous guitar sound in the beggining is followed by a lo-fi electro sound and a percussion beat. An avant-gardish brainfucking song, the weirder the better!

28) Jens Lekman - Friday Night At The Drive-In Bingo

Whoooo,,, now this is fun :) Earlier i thought that Jens is only good for singing depressing songs about how some random indie chick dumped him. But this song is so gooood, so happy so cheerful. Go Go country people, the city is no longer the place to be. So everybogy grab your bags and head off to the countryside!
The saxophone play is ace, i guess it's Jens's job! The lyrics are a bit funny, optimistic, but it's the truth! Singing about happy country people, how good is to live in the countryside makes u wanna get away from the dull megapolis and be simple, having fun, singing along to this song by a campfire.
Another great moment, when Jens picks up the pace, singing faster and faster , almost as if he is tongue twisting :) Aaaah, good old Swedish countryside.
Girls remember, as the russians say : 'Eating cabbages will help you to grow bigger boobs' :)

27) Black Lips - It Feels Alright

Also a dicovery for me this year, makes me wonder how did i miss all these years! Maybe just the bands with their band names, featuring the first word 'Black' were a norm to me :) Black Moth Super Rainbow, Black Mountain, Black Angels,Black Wire, all of em were medium to me. But I have never listened to garage punk music, i mean native US garage punk :) This garage punk music is different, when i hear the singing, i imagine some fucked village redneck punk with a couple of missing teeth and not clean clothes :) yes, these are my imagination, that's why i would tag Black Lips's music as 'dirty garage punk'. Unique music, coo clucks clan for life, bitches :D p.s the whole 'LOS....... album' is a great one, so it was hard picking out the best track

26) Deerhunter - Like New

Deerhunter made so much noise this year, in terms of music and in terms of awkward acts on stage and weird press releases! The LP, well i liked one comment at www.cokemachineglow.com, where the reviewer said 'that the music is so noisy sometimes that u aren't able to hear Brandon's voice' So Ep as i felt was a much cleaner effort. 'Like New' is brilliant, Brandon's singing skills really show off here, that's a pleasant surprise, huh? The song is short, could have been longer. The beginning starts with a couple of creepy sound effects, i hear a frog, water, insects, as if we are near a pond :) The drone is slightly weak, but enough to add an experimental feel :) All in all that's what i really excepted from an Ep hit by them, they did really improve.

25) The Handsome Furs - The Radio's Hot Sun

Greg Boeckner, i guess he decided to show everybody that not only Spencer Krug can come with creative stuff, so he cooperated with his fiance, and recorder this very very interesting piece of art. Wolf Parade's music isn't as electronic as the Handsome Furs's :) But anyway, it's cool when you get to hear an acoustic guitar,combined with synth sounds! The songwriting ,the lyrics are magic, very close to Spencer's skills. Both Spencer and Greg write the sickest song ever, i am very keen on hearing songs about three legged animals and people living under water :) The Radio's hot Sun? fuck can u understand that? that's the key, it's all magic at the end, Mr. Boeckner, a true artiiiist extraordinare!

24) The Tutts - K

Who Are The Tutts? Well mates, ask that to question to thisisdanni! She's the one..... she's the one who hooked me up with this kiwi punk band! The Tutts have 3 great songs in their bag of recordings :) all they have a post-punk or kiwi punk feel to em, amazing music movement, u better watch out for kiwi punk bands :) The guitar riffs on 'K' are so rockkkkkkk, and the whole itself is a kiwi punk anthem. I was quite surprised when i saw em at YOUTUBE, many members of the band are in their late 30's :), they must be young in their souls :)
This song is reccomended to all aussie post-punk lovers, New Zealand has got some great stuff coming up

23) Pull Tiger Tail - Ace song by a very ace band.... Ain't got much more to say!

22) Interpol - The Heinrich Maneuver

So how are things on the west coast? Pretty fine heh? My buddies Interpol, are at place No. 17 with their overplayed hit single! As i said a billion times, Interpol were the ones who inspired me to discover the whole indie music sphere! The Heinrich Maneuver is similar to Obstacle 1, that's why i feel extra love to this song! Whoo, at 2:27, wonderful guitar play, pure finesse! Paul sings brutally at the end, with the word 'brutally' i mean that never heard him sing like that, on the past records he just sang his songs, without any extra emotion. Hi kicks off fluently, at dmedium pace, till he gives it all at the finish :) My God!
People tend to say tha this album is pure crap, well i don't think so, i will admire Interpol till the end of time. Yes, maybe the music is simpler, yes, maybe much radio friendly, but no one can deliver the music that Interpol!

21) Cut City - Numb Boys

Coming up strong at 16, are my beloved post-punk swedish outfit 'Cut City'! Their best song on the album, that wasn't called 'best' by me for a while! Well, what i can, people changes, tastes change, but good music lives on forever. 'Numb Boys' is filled with meaning, not the ordinary bass guitar elegance and a funky beat. This one has some sense, only the song is a riddle. I feel there is something in it, even the title points out. 'There are places for people like us', 'altough should be wiser' hmmm, guess it's the the present generation, well I'll let you do the job and tell us what is the song about. As i said, a funky beat, juicy bass line and electro guitar sounds, plus a riddle! Good job by Cut City!

20) Land Of Talk - All My Friends

I was so hyped when Land of Talk appeared with their EP, it was Cheer and Apllause for me, no Boo, no Hisses! Now, well, uhmm, i guess i have overlistened them a bit! The band has talant, soild indie rock music, the female's voice is similar to Metric's! They are all canadians :) 'All My Friends' still remains their best effort for me, the one track that i didn't get bored with! Lovin' the lyrics : 'Fucking Around, pretending there's a problem, figure it out'!!! Powerful drum hitting, total solide guitar sound, punky vocals by the girl! Too bad that no Lp is recorded by them, but let's hope for the best!

19) Sunset Rubdown - The Taming Of The Hands That Came Back To Life

As usual, Spencer comes up with great song titles! And as usual he beats his fellow lad mr. Boeckner, but not by much this time! Spencer Krug is my hero, i am truly amazed by him, he plays everything, and everything that he plays sounds so well, his writing skills are totally pro, the man has a very well-rounded imagination!
I'm currently giving a go to another of his side project, the band 'Fifths of Seven' where he teams up with some chick from 'The Pink Mountaintops', he plays the piano, so it's a post-rock/instrumental band!
'Random Spirit Lover' is wickeeeed, full of emotions, full of alchemy, magic creatures and passion!
Ahhh, the start has that medieval sound, that is followed on by a beautiful ladies voice, that takes u more away to the imaginary land where brave swordsmen fight fire breathing dragons! Feel the passion, the emotions in Spencer's voice, he is gifted from above! Experimental/ medieval folk insanity! That 'Pararam, pararam, pararam' part is another one of the million key moments. Overall the most interesting song of 2007, well, not in the top 10, but anyway, huge respect to Sunset Rubdown!

18) Dappled Cities Fly - The Eve, The Girl

Aussie indie pop band : Dappled Cities, or Dappled Cities Fly are known by me as a band who released a stable album this year! Each song was a winner, well if not a winner, then a bronze medalist :) Serious, many great songs are featured on their LP. 'The Eve, The Girl' stood out for me, nice crooning vocals with mellow guitar play have created this great song. What cathced my ear, was the indie pop beat, but the lyrics are like : 'Your father was a useless man,and he, would one day have a useless son of his own' now tell me how does that work? The Decemberists have always sung bout bastards, poor and used girls, bums, but here we have this pretty happy melody with a rather unhappy core. So a complex composition by these aussies.

17) The Mary Onettes - Henry

Oh, Mary Onettes, they are so 'in' in my charts! Can't remember loving so many songs on one album! Why is the song 'Henry' better that Sunset Rubdown's effort? Well I'm liking more the 80's revival bands that medieval themes, if i was a Harry Potter fan, maybe Sunset Rubs would have been at No.1 :)
The track 'Henry' amazes me with it's beauty, that 80's feeling never felt so close! They really sound like an 80's band, they have that 'Factory record label' sound! When i think of this song, i think of the 80's , of a black and white scene, think of France and a mime clown :) This is how far my imagination goes! The acoustic guitar sounds so sweet and tender, and the voice is incredible. Makes u feel like the guy is singing only to you, feels like the song is somehow dedicated TO YOU only!!! Makes u wanna be close with your beloved one! And the synths give an extra romantic feel :) So this is probably he best love song of 2007!



16) Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Berlin

I don't know why Berlin, but i don't care about the title, but i do care about this fucking amazing track. 'Suicide teasing, what happened to the revolution?'
Hell yes! Although, i like BRMC's alt-country songs, that they made on some of their previous albums, and i love their 'Weight Of The World' song, which is so high strung! But after listening to the new Lp, which was tagged as 'worse than the previous ones' and after hearing these rock n roll tunes i went totally mad. Don't give a care that is album is mainstream, cuz this track right here is really pure rock n roll. Therefore i started to listen to BRMC much more when i heard their rockin' rock tunes.
I was at this disco once, where i begged the DJ to put this track on, he didn't put it on, saying that it is 'dull' , fuck him :) No.11 without doubt, Berlin by BRMC

15) The National - Brainy

Oh i love this band so much, and very bad that i didn't come down to Moscow to attend their gig, i only heard that the tickets... well they were not cheap. Quality products are always expensive. And where the hell can you find such a quality indie folk/pop band like The National? You know, their strenght is in writing deep and meaningful songs, that's what they have showed on their album 'Boxer'. The album is my No.1 in 2007, it's definetely a concept album, a whole story put together,using simple techniques. Acoustic guitars create magic sound when they play, and of course the singer, the singer is a gem, i'd give him an A+ for his songwriting and the way he perfoms the songs is ace.
The band chose to make this Lp much calmer. The 'Alligator' Lp had this 'Mr. November' song, well it was a rockin'one, but the 'Boxer' LP is all about emotion in the ocean. In the song 'Brainy', pay attention that the drums are louder that the guitars, u can hear that on many of songs on the Lp. It's a simple song, but it has a pitiful vibe, it's probably about criplled love. But i like it the way it is,, simple but elegant

14) Band Of Horses - No One's Gonna Love You

9 times out of 10, a band's sophomore album is worser than the first one. In this case i could argue a bit! Band Of Horses have put together a fantastic album, with a couple of unforgetable tracks. The one that i am writing about now leaped quickly into my favourite tracks list. What i really like about this song are the jingling bells at the start. This song is my alarm tune, beautiful sounds float around during the track. Once again i have to say, that the singer's singing is really special. In Band's Of Horses case, the singer's voice is very childish, as if a young alumni is singing like an angel. Very interesting voice indeed :) Also this is one of the best love songs heard by me in 2007. The bells are jingling during the whole track, and simple guitar chords back up the vocals! I have one word to say : charming love song! Guys guys, never let your women down, love them, care about them, always be near when they need you, because no one is going to love them like u do.


13) Blonde Redhead - 23

Dammit, this one kicks tons of ass! Randomly bought their CD, hoping to hear some experimental/psychedelic stuff, but i what i heard on the 2007 lp was far beyond extravagant. I don't know to which genre they stick to, i can only say that they are soooo avantgarde, so sexy, elegant, so hot. Huge props to Blonde Redhead, the album was a very valuable buy for me. The first song, '23', oh my, it's the prize winner, not the best on the LP, yes, but very close! So '23' is like an avant-rock track, or a 'newgaze' one, love the italian-japanese connection. The drumming is perfect, reminds me Midlake's 'Younf Bride', but the drumming is faster here, The 'La la la la la's' are wonderful,the synth is ace the whole atmosphere is so sexy. One of my buddies said that this one is a great track to fuck to :) Anyway, another Blonde Redhead song is comming up.

12) Calla - Defenses Down

Another great song from a truly amazing album. Never really liked Calla that much, but after their 'Strenght In Numbers' i decided that i should think twice! What i like about 'Defenses Down' is it's simplicity, just like The National's 'Brainy', the song is very simple, but it is so real, it gives you the goosebumps. Again, i fall in love with the acoustic guitar, the melody in this case is very well built, that's why 'Brainy' is a bit away here. The singer sings very gently, he is backed up by a smooth, almost whispering back-up vocal. 'Defenses Down' is also a song with something in it, the words 'some of them will tear you apart' point out that you cannot trust nobody today.... sad huh? Well it's the truth, so never leave your defenses down. In the end we find standart Calla guitar lines that close this brilliant song. This is one of those long lasting songs, for almost a year it was stuck in my mind, and will be there for a long time.

11) Enon - Sabina

I may be wrong, but i think that just like Blonde Redhead's lineup, Enon's lineup is the same. Two italian fellas and one japanese woman, all in their mid thirties play some fucking great music. Not like Blonde Redhead, Enon are more spicy, more freaky, more noisy, they rely on their guitars, that's how they create solid rock tracks, no sexy atmospehere is in sight :)
Sabina is by far their best song on the album.'Sabina' is not as noisy as the other tracks, it's a wired up short story, it's a fast pace noise rock track. I like the blast off at 2:17, when we hear 'She fainted in the sound'. It's a bit strange, i always wrote how i adore those fucking bass lines, yes, i do. And we have a quite fine one in 'Sabina', but this time it's the electro guitar that got me jumping, i guess the guitar player just knows hot to hit the right notes.

10) Blonde Redhead - Top Ranking

No thing as a top ranking, but so far so good :) Blonde Redhead once again, give em a round of applause :) The most wikced, extraordinary, avantgarde-ish, the most art-ish song on their album. If i said that to '23' you could have great sex, then 'Top Ranking' associates with art, i guess this song can inspire all those post-modern art freaks to draw an avant painting. The whole song itself is a piece of art, piece of art with that east feeling, with that japanese flavour. The singer has that japanese accent(i feel so), so that adds extra beauty. The song is like a dancing geisha, like a blooming sakura. Yes, there goes my mind, really i feel so obsessed with Japan when i hear this. The xylophone, calm guitar riffs, and again the drums, the drums as ace as in '23', so all of that gives that art feeling. Hooray for Blonde Redhead, a trio of creative artists.

9) The Twilight Sad - Cold Days From The Birdhouse

The Twilight Sad, ye old scottish lads :) Damn, just like Blonde Redhead's 'Top Ranking', this song makes me think about Scotland, about Scottish landscapes, the countryside, about whiskey :) This track is a really opener, a great track that consists of three parts. Well, in the beginning we have this wonderful easy melody with a rather hawaian feel to it, with some ticking. The melody really takes u away, gives u wings. The scottish accent is top stuff, really sweet when the singer hits the high notes. At 2:30, blaaast, brutal post-rock music kicks off, and the singer no more whispers lovely words, no he sings seriously. The whole noise around creates a worrying atmosphere, phew, a great change of tactics there. In the end it all calms downs, that's the third part, where we can hear some lovely harmonica playing. All in all,a wonderful track, lots of instruments involved and lots of scottish passion :)

8) Los Campesinos! - Death To Los Campesinos!

Ahhh, Good old, i mean good and young Los Campesinos! Well I don't have much to say about this track here :) it's the best i've heard by them, the ep is 4/5, but is 10 out of 10 :) Probably the catchiest shit i've heard this year :) Los Campesinos! are a bunch of art students who are an indie pop outfit! Grab some 'Life Without Buildings' mix em up with 'Love Is All' and pick some random brit pop band , and you will Los Campesinos music. From 'Life Without Buildings' they have this singing that almost feels like rap, from 'Love Is All' they have this sweet ladies vocal, and from an ordinary brit pop group they have these indie guitar sounds.
I even don't know how to say, why i like this song so much, well it makes my feet move, brings the mood up and many other positives emotions. There are some 6 or 7 people in the band, that why the song is full of different sounds, a very rich boquet of sounds :)

7) Interpol - No I In Threesome

Now this song is wicked, wicked in the way that i still don't know why did i put it in such a high position :) The trick is that sometimes it seems a very simple song indeed, but my love for this song shows when i am in a certain emotional mindstate. I think to myself that there is nothing more lovely than this tune, everytime i leave my hometown and my closest people :) Then this song feels so special, just like wow! Very beautiful, very elegant, like a blooming flower!
There's no 'I' in threesome indeed, but this song is not about groupies and stuff, it's much more 'higher'. Maybe yes, maybe it is simple, no ex-Interpol feeling to it, it doesn't challenge you that much, but fuck that, it's amazingly beautiful! 'Life is wine' - my favourite lyrics from this song!

6) Life Without Buildings - The Leanover

Way too late i discovered this scottish outfit, way too early they decided to split :) A Boo Hoo for that, but tons of apllause for their LIVE AT THE ANNADALE HOTEL LP :)
This song is so different from all of their tunes, and different from everything i have heard in some time :) As usual i fell in love with that scottish accent, and then i fell in love with the indie pop music with a post-punk twist! Life Without Buildings are a blend of bands such 'Kiss Me Deadly', and 'Love Is All'. I Love the way Sue Tompkins sings here, the singing manner reminds me of Art Brut's Eddie Argos and Kasabian's lead singer who tried to act as a rap star in 'Processed Beats' :)
This song is a deluxe edition gem, form 0:15 till 1:30 We hear a kind of light rapcore music :) Sue doesn't just sing, she just chaoticly picks out words from her head :) Man she's so wicked! This song is mu favourite revolutionary track of the year!

5) The Acorn - Heilrooms

Ahhh, canadian mountaintops, pure rivers, green forests, foggy and chilly nights, oh Canada... I really want to visit Canada, i want to see it's beauty with my own two eyes. This song 'Heilrooms' makes me think of Canada, interesting huh? And this track here is by far, by really really far the best effort by them. Was dissapointed by their LP, meanwhile the EP is a piece of gold! Not only this song sounds of canadian beauty to me, but also of families, children, heritage and so on. Therefore these words here 'The family jewels u've put under the knife' are sooo real, and these words here 'Sometimes treasures found are treasures best left hidden' are very emotional, this song overall is very sad, very sad but real at the moment. No wonder why folk music is called 'alive' , folk musicians sing about what they see, therefore their music is alive, it isn't made out of nothing!
I really wonder why this song isn't at least in top 5 listened overall tracks by The Acorn? Doesn't anyone give a fuck goddamit? Open your eyes and wash your ears with soap :) Heilrooms, Heritage, pride, honour, respect, relatives, love, peace, life, retirement, grandchildren, funeral, silence :(
This song has so much great words, it's amazing how the writer came up with this one! I love the 5:30 part, where some loud singing comes into action, but the song as a whole is pure talant, a simple acoustic guitar plays for 5 minutes, but it is so wonderful, i can't find even words in my native language to describe what i feel when i hear this song.
Also this song reminds of the movie called 'I'm Not Here' about 60's folk music, there will be a day when we all will be not here. So my message to all of you is : family - is the real life's treasure! Everybody grab some flowers and visit the grave of your beloved relatives who by some reason didn't make till today :((( Peace and Love To All of You

4) The Mary Onettes - Still

Looking at the description on Acorn's Heilrooms, everybody must think how come i didn't put em at No.1? I don't know folks, i am an egoist at sometimes and i don't pay enough attention to my relatives and i quite rarely visit the grave of my brother :(
Ok let's move on, the bad times have to be left behind!
Acorn's Heilrooms show the power of life and death, while this song shows us all the power of love! Never ever thought this one would make it so high! The excellent 80's revival track of 2007 for me, of course! 'Still' is so excellent, so well rounded, and so easy listening, a pity that it is a bit short. Wonderful singing skills by the vocalist, so this stands out for me due to the quality singing, + the meaningful lyrics and + the chorus background melody, it's so warm and so gentle! I like sunny songs a bit better then the desperate ones, that's why Mary Onettes's track 'Still' is still one of the best songs i have ever heard! I Still love it, and i still love my girl, and i still believe that everything will be alright! The best part is the 2:15.... whoooo, it's like a rollercoaster ride, as the singer hits the high notes, and he does with magic elegance!!! A truly 'one to hear' track

3) Love Of Diagrams - The Pyramid

Oh oh oh oh no..... :) goddamit, post-punk has become my favourite music subgenre in 2007! god knows why, but i fucking love it. Swedish post-punk is a great choice, but aussie post-punk music by Love Of Diagrams is a real killer, it's proper late 70 - early 80's underground post-punk music! They sound like the late 70's :) fuck, thanks heaps tp this band. As you know they made a cover of PYLON's 'Cool' track! So here we have, they have been influenced by these kind of 'dirty' post-punk outfits!
Raw bass guitar soundbites, juicy electro guitar sounds :) oh my fucking god, this song is post-punk heaven in all of it's meanings :) The 1:57 - 2:05 part , check it for some guitar madness!
I also adore the beggining, and the singins which is followed by the bass, so that means, plenty of bass solos here, which is a plus!
The lyrics don't amaze me, what amazes me, is the style of singing and the whole rockin' drive! The Pyramid, The Pyramid, oh oh oh oh no :) This song fucking rocks, it's double good!

2) Model Reign - Never Show Your Weak Sides

Coming out strong at #2 is a local post-punk outfit hailing from Russias north capital - the one and only Saint Petersburg, hell yeah. Saint Pete's undeground music scene isn't very huge and developed, but some artists have got something to say. Model Reign - one of the few Saint Pete's outfit, who are known to play some true post-punk music. It was so funny when my friend from my group at uni, who is an aspiring drummer, said that Model Reign's drummer is his friend :) so you see how small is the world! And me and my drummer pal will visit their upcoming gig tommorrow(today is the 18th of february 2007) , damn i am totally stoked, can't wait to see them play this awesome track.
As usual, russian bands don't usually sing wicked and sophisticated songs is english, no huge meaning in the words, but they really show some amazing guitar play. Poor quality of the recording, this band hasn't got an EP, but we all hope they will record it.
Model Reign, ahhhh,, excellent stuff. The beginning is ace, the bass , the electro really do some quality team work! 'Better better better, you're doing it so much better' :) these simple lyrics will be shouted by a dozen of indie kids tommorow at the gig!!!
Guys i really need your opinion on this track, cuz i think it is a 10 pointer!
Also i have an evil plan of somehow persuading them to play a gig in Latvia!!! Wish me luck, right now it's just a dream!

Альбом группы Sunset Rubdown 'Random Spirit Lover' является уже четвёртой студио записью, после двух альбомов и одного афигенного ИПИ! Стоит заметить, что между записью первого альбома 'Snake's Got A Leg' в июле 2005-ого года и этим альбомом прошло чуть больше двух лет. Несмотря на такой короткий промежуток времени, альбом оказался довольно качественным и хорошо отработанным, как будто бы группа готовилась к записи в течении пару лет. Спенсер Краг - предводитель группы является одним из самых занятых людей в независимом музыкальном бизнессе, так как он также является членом группы Swan Lake и Wolf Parade, у которых выходит новый альбом в конце 2007-ого года. Говоря о самом альбоме Random Spirit Lover, могу сказать такие слова : хорош, очень хорош, но не лучше предыдущего 'Shut Up I Am Dreaming'. Сей альбом содержит целых 12 песен, и примерно насчитывает в себе целых 58 минут и 30 секунд является очередным алмазом 2007-го года. Стоит заметить, что это альбом не один из тех, где каждая песня является простой частью альбома! 'Random Spirit Lover' в этом плане отличается тем,что он является альбомом понятия(concept album), где все песни связаны, конец одной песни является началом следующей, то есть альбом как бы является одной историей, и слушать его нужно от начала до клнца и никак по-другому. Песни образуют эффект синергии, благодаря которому альбом получает некий шарм, придающий особенную изюминку.
Начало альбома взяла на себя песня 'The Mending Of The Gown', начало которой, ей богу, по гитарному звуку напоминает что-то из репертуара банды 'The Bravery', но постепенно песня принимает характерный очерк, быстрый темп, вопли Спенсера, его хаотичная песнопение и его энергичная игра на фортепиано! Спенсер полностью отдаётся песне, по вокалу можно понять, что человеку нелегко это даётся, но зная Спенсера мы можем ожидать гораздо более фееричного шоу. Это шоу разыгрывается во время третьей песни : 'Up On Your Leopard,Up On The End Of Your Feral Days', особенно начиная с 1:18, ну там он даёт жару, после чего песня в дальнейшем проходит более менее спокойно. Не так часто в раннем творчестве группы был слишен глубоко-нежний голос единственной женщины в группе : Камиллы Уин Ингр,которая хорошо дополняет альбом песней 'Colt Stands Up,Grows Horns'! Но композиция, 'The Taming Of The Hands That Came Back To Life' является, по моему мнению, наилучшей композицией альбома, которая показывает на каком высоком уровне находится мастерство группы. Как божественно само начало песни, уносящее своей мелодией нас в магический мир, где храбрые рыцари борятся с огнедышашими драконами! Этот альбом, да и музыка Sunset Rubdown в целом волшебная, и волшебность находит подспорье в словах песен, в которых Спенсер поёт о змеях с ногами, о царях, о ведьмах и т.д. ну разве он не талант? у меня есть одно слово для описания такой музыки : 'Magic', и это не громко сказано. Также всем стоит обратить внимание на ритмичные вопли : во оо о, оо оо , встречаемые(ющиеся) в песне 'The Courtesan Has Sung', которые начинаются с 1:30. Последущая песня 'Wicked,Winged Things'была доступна в сети уже в апреле месяце(тоже одна из лучших печен альбома), и с того времени фанаты бились в лихорядке, ожидая появления альбома. Альбом оказался настолько красивым, волнущим, что безспорно является один из лучших релизов этого года. Музыка группы 'Sunset Rubdown' уникальна, на самом деле, мало сейчас групп, способных быть приравнены к этим героям. Среди схожих артистов можно отметить группу 'Frog Eyes', но Кери Мерсер более эмоционально поёт, еще схожие артитсты: 'The Whiskers'и ' Handsome Furs'(проект коллеги Спенсера по Wolf Parade Дэна Бокнера) и конечно же Swan Lake играют примерно такую же музыку. (лучше сказать музыку в схожем стиле) После первых прослушиваний вы наверное не сильно полюбите альбом, я вошёл во вкус ну где-то после четвёртого прослушивания. Да и для русской публики такая музыка не привычна, альбом схож с поджанром экспериментал, но и фрик фолк тоже подходит, а вообще такая музыка заслуживает другого тэга, потому-что если послушаешь передовых монстров поджанра экспериментал и фрик фолк, то поймёшь что Sunset Rubdwon - это фрукт с другого отдела.
Альбом достоин покупки, или хотя бы скачивания!Люди, знающие толк в музыке Sunset Rubdown не сколько не разочаруются. Но в альбоме нету простеньких песен как в прошлом альбоме, под словом 'простенькие' я имею ввиду композицию с использованием простой гитары и душераждирающими словами, такой композицией являлась песня 'Empthy Threats Of Little Lord', а также не заметно слишком эмоциального пения. Если вы помните дорогие друзья, как орал, да именно орал Спенсер при пении 'I am no horseman' , как будто отбивался от 10 врагов сразу же. Короче говоря новый альбом просто супер, за , что я ему ставлю оценку в 8.5/10 и реально желаю, что вы зацените альбом и подтвердите мои хорошие отклики об этом шикарном, уникальном альбоме!

So here is a list for you haters out there.Here is my favourite i mean the worst tracks of 2006.The list isn't so big,cause i had to choose from a list of some 500 tracks of 2006 that i have on my PC.I'm cool with the flaming,cause this one is my crap of 2006,and that's my personal opinion.


BEACH HOUSE-SALTWATER
Well i really don't know but i really wanna sleep while listening to this one.It's the opener for Beach House's Beach House LP,and opener are ment to show a good glimpse of the album's best values,and what's yet to come.A 1 minute of almost pure silence,folowed by some lyrics,that make you wanna yawn yawn yawn all the way.Bad effort guys

This band makes u think that they are a joke or they are just pretending,like playing characters.A friend of mine is really hooked on this band,but he has a decent music flavour,dunno why he liked this one.All begins with the 'smart lyrics': 'Aaaah you think that head is nice'? lol.
And a nearly weird woman's voice makes u wanna think twice about this band's credo.Although it has a normal electro tune :D,but fuck it.The lyrics have no fluency they are not well made.Well see for yourself :D


THE BLACK HEART PROCESSION-RETURN TO BURN
Can't give any true reasons for not liking this one but it's one of those lame,quite boring songs from good albums.Eveything is simple in this track,not any sign of The Black Heart Procession extravaganza.The singer just sings with no interest.Usually only two words but sometimes many :).Well either way this is the worst track on the album.


EXCEPTER-THE LADDER
How come Excepter always gets great rating from Pitchfork and all the other musical-reviewer sites??Their music is crap,,no talent they don't even try.Everything is about some weird sound and a couple of whispers.This song is short so in that way it's great,i won't stand some 4 minutes of this low-quality stuff.The sound is like an alien spaceship is flying near space.


GAY AGAINST YOU-ICE SCOOTER
Oh dammit how can this track be so famous??damn,and damn again,,a short one minute bad song.I can't say anything good about it.Let's just move on



GOMEZ-WOMAN!MAN!
Well the one thing that i hate this is for the stupid chorus:'Sha la la Woman,sha la la la MAN'Man now that's what i call: no thinking while singing.And all the lyrics of this song aren't great.Oh my.


THE HOLD STEADY-STUCK BETWEEN STATIONS
Everybody is reccomending this track.I wonder why,u know i really wonder.I love their First Night track from their new album,but why this one is considered to be the best??The lyrics just simply don't fit no compatitibility.Where are that dudes songwriting skills?And the guitar play,everything is so old,nothing fresh.


JUNIOR BOYS-WHEN NO CARES
Oh the whole is just like that except some 3-4 quite energetic and well made songs.The album is boring.But When No One Cares is the lamest track.The instruments are also not actice,maybe it's a good night or some chllout song,but it doesn't get u even chilled.I have a feeling of emptyness when i listen to this track.


KASABIAN-EMPIRE
Ha ha Yes,,this track i hate the most from their fucking stupid album.(oh now the guys at NME.RUSSIA will flame me)But yes that is what i think.It was a mistake to release this track.The first album was way better.Now why i hate this one is because of the lyrics,and the video.The video doesn't fit into the concept of the track,the chorus is awful:'We're all wasted awaaaaaaaaaaay' the chorus makes u wanna change the track..I do that almost every time.A poor,a very poor effort by KAsabian this year.Stop :)


KLAXONS-THE BOUNCER
oh what a wonderful song,despite that i hate the lyrics,if i can call em LYRICS.A pair of bouncer's phrases that start mildly,at the end he is simply screaming.And i really hate that cool new-rave sound,with the annoying sound of sirens.hmmm if it wasn't for that bouncer i would hate this track not less.So the worst song from their EP is The Bouncer


TIM HECKER-RADIO SPIRICOM
How could u give Tim Hecker some high notes,and tag his music as'house'?? what's that,how come?I was very pissed when i got reccomended this crappy music.Just like Excepter.. no nothing.Makes your brain feel uncomfortable,unless u have no brain u might like it.This track just puts pressure on your ears,don't try to listen at a high volume.


THE LONG WINTERS-TEASPOON
Well The Long Winters are a seriuos band as i think and as i though.So this is pretty much about nothing,no meaning.With the words:'I finally long for someone,teaspoon teaspoon teaspoon'Maybe the singer calls her woman like that :D. Just like the I'm From Barcelona dudes,but they sing happy songs so it's odd for them to sing about chickenpox.But singing so about a teaspoon,oh and the lyrics are followed by these horns.Oh,what a bad song this is.


MAN MAN-YOUNG EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH
Fucking what??what's that??Since when MAN MAN aare making such grindcore doom metal experimental sadistic songs??No there's something wrong with that song.And why is the title so stupid??I don't see an Einstein,i son't see a beach.Maybe the crazyness of this song shows how Einstein chills on the beach,screaming and shouting/?? I'm dissapointed with this track?It's from another genre definetely


WHITE ROSE MOVEMENT-IDIOT DRUGS
Now i know that i said their album KICK is the best LP of the year!!!Yes it i but if it wasn't for this track,i would give em a 10/10.But this crappy song someone lowers the band's reputation.Seriously,i hate this one.The chorus is awful,when the singer scream like a stabbed pig:'Idiot Druuuuugs'damn WRM u could have done better.

42)Final Fantasy-THIS LAMB SELLS CONDOS
A wicked and a very weird song which has a pretty fast pace.Owen Pallet is known for his song's weird compositions.This Lamb Sells Condos is my fave song from his HE POOS LOUDS LP.The best parts of this song are the piano playing and the kids choir at the end of the song.Very interesting and unordinary track this is,but I like it.No 41 of 2006,not bad i guess for FF.


41)iLiKETRAINS-A ROOK HOUSE FOR BOBBY
Discovered this british nu-post-rock band at NME.com.And i was surprised how did i find such an interesting band at that poor site.iLiketrains are special,,their Ep is good.This is my fave song from their EP.It builds a melancholic feeling,that grows into powerful energy.Great guitar play and nice vocals.I'm loving the 'chess play' lyrics before the chorus.So this would be my favourite post-rock song of 2006



40)Archie Bronson Outfit-DEAD FUNNY
So here's is one of my favourite tracks of 2006.I love the style of music Archie Bronson guys play.This song is like a mix of art rock but with a heavy rock 'n roll flavour.Quite funny lyrics for such a indie rock song.The lead singer is singing:'I am a disco dancer'being a disco dancer while playin' quite heavy guitar riffs. ha ha.But anyway this tune is special,i need to check out their whole album and u too.Oh and Archie Bronson guys sound really similar to The Black Keys



39)Morissey-THE YOUNGEST WAS THE MOST LOVED
Ha now this is interesting.Never thought that Morrisey makes such catchy songs at his age.Guess i should think twice.This tune remind me of Hector,who was the first of the gang to die.Morrisey makes great songs based on the mafia plots.The kids's choir fits in perfect,the whole song is so nice flowing,and what a terrific 'ya di da' singing at the end.Give Morrisey some credit


38)Love Is All-BUSY DOING NOTHING
Whoo,a great energetic indie pop song,i would say it's a 'heavy'indie pop track not like the other ones.Didn't dig the band earlier,but then they became so cool to me,especially this song.Always listen carefully to the lead singer's voice,it transfrom and deformates some 3-5 times,from screaming to high notes.The lead singer is a pro,but the guys singing in the back are adding more flavour to this track,it sounds so retro,and so in.Gosh no wonder their album is one of the year's best


37)iForward Russia-TWELVE
Full throttle massive energy and crazy high notes that make u feel like the leader singer doesn't know how to sing.But the drive and the fastness of this song really give you a huge boost.If u have seen this song's video at the PUKKELPOP festival u would see that the singer not only manages to sing out the notes perfectly but also tries to choke himself using the microphone wire.Great talent there lad.Anyway a nice quick song,don't try to hear the lyrics just let your attention catch the riffs and the drums.


36)Snowden-ANTI-ANTI
Make way,the new 'Interpol' have arrived.Yeah right,I'm just kidding.But this track Anti-Anti has a strange Interpol feeling.First when i got hold of this track i just listened to it some 5-7 days a day,but then it just became a simple song for me.Although the beginning is faboulous and the band slightly is lacking at the end.For all Interpol lovers,this track will be good to hear.The first 30 seconds of the song are brilliant,and i dig the lyrics and the style of singing,as if the singer is fatigue,so that's a just a plus.


35)Band of Horses-THE FUNERAL
Oh now this one is worth something more.I loved this song at the beginning of the year.EVerything All The Time was released in february if i'm not mistaken.That time i loved this one,such a great song,love the vocals(the singer has some kind of kiddish voice)and the chorus.Wonderful song with a meaning in it,life is life,can't escape the funeral.But as the year moves on many other great tracks have topped my charts,so i almost forgot about this great tune.So sad,,but still one of my favs.Btw this track was at the beginning given No 39,,but after a couple of listens i remember the time when it was one of my faves so it's on No 35.


34)Junior Boys-IN THE MORNING
Rated by Pitchfork 5 out of 5.This one is rated 4 out of 5 from me.The band have a rather weak album,i expected more,but this track really stands out in the album.I don't like the lyrics but the whole electropop atmospehere is really great and the hard breathing mixes fine with the electro sound together.One of this year's best electro songs,it's so amusing and various,also a good choice to dance to.


33)Professor Murder-FREE STRESS TEST
Ha ha now this band is ace,they released a really wicked EP with this song included-Free Stress Test.I read the Pitchfork review and somehow felt i need to grab that EP.i really wasn't dissapointed.Professor Murder don't use electrical guitars in this song and in the whole EP.I first heard cowbells in this song,, never heard that cowbells were used as a musical instrument.The bass guitar play is so cool and the kinda xylophone sound at the beggining of the 3rd minute is very nice.This song is so creative makes u wanna be amazed for a whole day


32)The Rapture-THE DEVIL
Yeah now that's what i call a good dance track,of course an dancepunk track.It makes me wanna shake my head and hit the dancefloor.It gives a lot of positive energy,i would say this track is sexy and smooth.The best part begins at 2:09,now that's what u should check.Overall i would say that it's a one hit wonder and it won't be my heard by me constantly for a long time.But if u like the dancepunk movement,then this is by far one of the most dancable tracks for all ya punks out there.


31)Beirut-ELEPHANT GUN
Oh my god Zack Condon is really amazing,if i would have done this top in the middle of the year this song would have been much higher,because I'm getting used to this south-east European sound.But I'm impressed with Elephant Gun,it's kind off fresh,I thought that Zack won't release something new.But here is one amazing new track from his forthcoming EP,it was like a 'WOW'.Once again masterful harmonica play,i love the huge instrument count.And my fave part is when Zack sings the'Let The Seasong Begin'part,, really makes u love his style of singing.Full output,no comments


30)Supermongo-TELL ME WHY
Now I'm confused with the name of the artist,It is or SUPERMONGO or SUPERMODE or DJ.AXWELL.Anyway i heard it at a disko,, in fact this track is very popular in the mainstream disco scene but i really want all u guys to check it out.I decided to bring it into the 'indie' scene beacuse the start of this song is very cool and retro,with a spark of the 80's when Depeche Mode rocked the house.It reminds me of a synthpop,post-punk sound that's why i love it so much.This is by far the greatest dance track out there.Too bad that it's mainstream.but all the dancepunk,indiedisco lovers will enjoy this one.It's kind of long,puts you in a trance,be careful to fall in love with this tune.


29)Fujiya & Miyagi-COLLARBONE
Now hob faboulos is this song?I would say very very,this is the best tune from their Transparent Things LP.Even the Pitchfork critics give this song huge credit.This song has a fresh feeling,smooth all the way mischevous and sexy to the bone.I really think that the girls would like it.The silent vocals mix terrifically with the bass guitar play.A little bit starnge,such a cool atmospehere and the guys sing about bone connection and new shoes :)Doesn't matter,just let yourself go with the flow.And this tune ends with a kind off Michale Jackson 'beatbox''thing.To sum up-the sexiest tune of 2006.The album is good,too.


28)Sapporo 72-THE ARCHITECTURE OF LOVE
I'm sorry that i mentioned Depeche Mode earlier while describing Supermongo's Tell Me Why i wasn't relly sure.But the description of this song can't be described fully not mentioning that u get a feeling of this song's simillarity to Depeche Mode's vocals and Duran Duran's.Wonderful electronica play in this song,but it's too long,the first 5 minutes are thrilling but the rest is a bit lame.But this song is never even heard by all u here,but i give my high reccomendations.Again if u like electronica tunes with an 80's feel,then this here is returning u all the best of the 80's underground disco movement values,i can tag this song as new wave disco if i can say that.It has a similarity to Minotaur Schock at the beggining of the 4th minute.


27)Sunset Rubdown-THE EMPTY THREATS OF LITTLE LORD
Well didn't give any attention to this song anyway.Then listened to it carefully and discovered such a wonderul atmospehere.As always Spencer Krug doesn't sing about nothing:'If i ever hurt you it would be in self defence'wow makes u think what's that?The beauty of the lyrics ara sooo so great.Singing about life's discriminations as i suggest.All the way the song is intrigueing and bewitched.The culmination comes starting at 3:40 with the words 'you snake' like the hero discovered the true face of the villain.Damn what am i talking about,what a beautiful song this is.Look further Spencer's other project Swan Lake is at No 19.


26)Shiny Toy Guns-LE DISKO
The best song from their We Are Pilots LP,cause the whole album is a bit like emo.So this song more better than all the tracks put together.A poerful tune this is,it has like White Rose Movement and Poni Hoax similarities.It'has a 'dirty' indietronica sound but a soothing end that i don't really admire.But what makes the song special are the vocal like a rrriot girl ones.Heavy instrument play are fucking amazing,u even might dance to this one jump around nodding your head.Also one of those bringing back the 80's disco to 2006.I just love this new wave songs in a disco manner.I'm loving it,really loving such vigorous play like the band does in LE DISKO.A One hit wonder,that's for sure,a very intense end,the last 20 seconds are like whoaaaaa!


25)Jens Lekman-JENS LEKMAN'S FAREWELL SONG TO ROCKY DENNIS
Good old Jens Lekman is at No. 25.This song is somehow very special,i really adore his piano play.One of his magnificent songs,that make tear jerkers cry and about me?well this tune makes me think about my girl and friendship.singing'now i don't know who my friend is'is the part that makes u melt.And then the violin and whistling,it's so good,a song that's not just a song,it's like 3 minute harmony feeling.People who know what is love will dig it.Oh Jens,singing about such romantic songs will forever be one of my top artists.


24)As Tall As Lions-MILK AND HONEY
Now this band made one of the most greatest albums of 2006.And as i see not many people agree with my opinion,i wonder why??The album features great art/avant rock songs with slow,melodic beautiful songs.So Milk And Honey is a beautiful charming love song,the lyrics are fantastic.The despair of love,starting from 3:26 the song turns into a brutal heart-bleeding feel,like your heart is aching so bad.I am really touched by this song,and what a beautiful sonorous voice.As it is sung:'Let's put away the sticks and stones,and be human beeings'.Now Milk And Honey is one of the best avant rock songs of 2006!Go As Tall As Lions!!!


23)I'm from Barcelona-WE'RE FROM BARCELONA
Nana na na na na na na na na,,whooo.Here's how u can describe the whole song.Damn i wonder why all the best indie pop groups are from Sweden.Here's one of the best,a group,i should say a huge bunch of friends singing about love,family and friendship=true friendship values.I love the how the choir sings here.This song is so happy,the world is terrific,I love life when i listen to this tune.It's so sweet joyful,gay(I mean happy) makes u wanna just go out and hug everybody on the street.So this would the most fun and poppiest indie pop song ever.


22)The Killers-READ MY MIND
Almost everyone consider the Killers's new album pure crap.No no,not me,it's not excellnet but it has some 3-4 almost perfect songs.SO the best one is Read my Mind(followed by Where The White Boys Dance) uh huh,that's right.This song is kind of poppy although it is indie rock.The piano play is so alluring and Brandon's voice is a candy here.I love the 'Good old days,the honest man...'it makes me sing along.I think that a love song was never better sung bt Brandon than this one,even the riffs mix very good with the song's concept.A good old indie rock song that is,,a burst of energy at 3:00 is fucking amazing..yeeaaaaaaaah.Can you feel it???as Brandon sings:'I don't shine if you don't shine'now how touching is that?very,very.


21)Destroyer-PAINTER IN YOUR POCKET
I would say that this song is a bit experimental,it's upkeep is a bit strange,the first 30 seconds aren't so cool,but then Dan Bejar begins the 'real'song.And the words about the painter are the starting point to a terrific continuation.Overall i love Dan Bejar personality,I even don't know if this song is art rock or experimental or avant pop??it's so strange in a good way,I'm loving it.From 2:40 it all goes on,the hidenn emotions and energy burst out at 3:00..Whoaaa now that is amazing.The start is slow,then the song gets a bit faster at the end it's so faboulos.I would call this not a song but just ART,yeah it's more than a song for sure.



20)Midlake-YOUNG BRIDE
This song was heard by me 2 weeks ago before i made this list.As good as Roscoe but better,it's more positive and more beautiful.I love how the drums start in the beggining.This tune is very charming,it just blasted into my cahrt and ended up at No.11.Midlake songs are medieval discuised,and i like this speciality.Tales from the past in,used for a indie-rock song.Oh watch out for the lethal violin,even Arcade Fire an My Latest Novel will envy.A multi talanted band,Midlake,just keep on surpsing me.Young Bride-elegant track.



19)Swan Lake-ARE YOU SWIMMING IN HER POOLS?
aaa,now that's what i call good old indie-folk.A simple acoustic guitar a magnificent voice.I just adore Spencer Krug for his songwriting skills.This song is not an exception,it's not loud as always in the beginning.Spencer sings as if he's trying to whisper.The whispers are changed by powerful overstrained screams...and Dan Bejar groans in the back.wow the song is better than all of the 2006 folk songs.And 'you said your love was fierce fierce fierce' in the end is the culmination.But i really love the beginning,,as Spencer sings oh ha ha ha haau,as if the microphone is his beloved wife.So much m power,sweetness and fury does the song contain,makes u amazed.Watch out for 1:52...


18)The Ordinary Boys-LONELY AT THE TOP
This is a song for all the complainers who think that The Ordinary Boys suck.. fuck u all,, i haven't listend to the whole album but this song is so ace,give em some respect.British indie rock(with a dance flavour) is on top this year.The Ordinary Boys with this unordinary song are at No.18.This tune is so dancey,bright and so good listening.I imagine as if the whole song is like a theatre scene where several men and women dance with sticks in their hands,wearing black round hats and black shoes, u know that classic 60's style of colthes.That's what i imagine while listenin' to this tune.I heard this song on the radio,so thanks to you mr.mainstream radio.Ha ha.A brilliant song,i didn't excpect that i would like it so much.Good mood all the way.


17)Sebastien Tellier-LA RITOURNELLE
Well i really don't know if this song was released in 2006??maybe it's old.Either way I'll make an exception and put it in my charts.I want the whole world to know about.The sound in the song,is like a spinning wheel,a wheel of fortune.The same chords and piano play continue all the way,all the 7 minutes.And from the 4th minute Sebastien starts singing.Some of you will be bemused,that's a mistake,u should consider this song's beauty.But even Sebastien starts singing,,omg now that's what i call a professional songster.He has magic in his voice,all the theatre lovers will dig this one.This one is the most charming song i have heard this year.La Ritounelle isn't even indie,,but i don't give a fuck,cause it's so magnificent and melodic.


16)The Horror The Horror-ALL I CAN DO
this is the band that i can cleraly say that i reccomended to tons of people.Simply they are brilliant.Heard em on MTV,,and waited some 4 months to get their album.A pretty great one,mentioned by COKEMACHINEGLOW.COM in the TOP 50 of the year.The song is pretty simple but it goes well,the continuations,rhythm varieties are great.The singer is great,but the co-singer dudes do a fantastic job,excellent.My fave part is starting from 2:34.This song is ordinary but it is very special to me.U give a try,won't be dissapointed.


15)Voxtrot-THE START OF SOMETHING
Now also one of my favourite discovered indie-pop bands of 2006.This song is very similar to Roscoe by MIdlake,it's also like a story.The singer quickly sings a story only a very amusing and sunny one,not like Roscoe.I love the guitar play in this one,i would The Start Of Something differs very much from all other songs on their EP.It all goes indie/pop/rocky,it's just like a ballad before sleeping.'Godspeed' everyting in this is perfect,it's also ordinary but ordinary means huge talent in this case.the drums,the guitars,the vocals everything is in harmony.The sound of this song makes me feel like this song was recorded many years ago,that's also cool cause it's not :)


14)The Dears-WHITES ONLY PARTY
Now if it was 2005 now,then The Dears song Lost In The Plot would be my number one,no kidding.This year,Whites Only Party are coming strong at nr.14.Like Voxtrot's song it feels as if this one was recorder back in the bays,using old technologies,this fact gives some extra spices.At first i din't even realise that this song is about racism,that's pretty sad.Well i would like u to know,that their album Gang Of Losers is my second favourite this year.But this song is so cool,the lead singer has a great singing manner,he even doesn't sweat,everything just goes with the flow,i love the 'don't say I'm paranoid part' the intensity rises with time in this tune.A meaningful song this is,terrific


13)You Say Party!We Say Die!-STOCKHOLM SYNDROME PART.2
Wow,this band is so tallented,despite a quite stupid name.The are the true underground band,playing psychedelic/electro dance-punk songs.The songs are often so heavy as if they are played by iForward Russia, but YSPWSD have better quakity,i can't even find any similar artist to em.So Stockholm Syndrome is so powerful,energetic,makes u wanna punch everything u see and run,and dance in the freakiest manner.A pretty slow start leads into a fucking intensive following.Dammit this one is so good,i love those weird dance-punk trakcs.At 1:50 the song calms down,leading to a great singing. U might dig the GAP,too,it's similar to this one.


12)Maritime-PARADE OF PUNK ROCK T-SHIRTS
Now here they are,MARITIME-the best indie-pop band that i discovered in 2006.I love their LP so much,Nr.2 in my list of 2006.Damn these guys are so talanted.As i know they are european or maybe not,but anyway i was said somewhere that they are from Germany,and i hate german bands.But they are sooo wicked.This song is a hit,no doubt.It goes on and on,u don't want it to stop.The chorus is simply amazing,it's so catchy.The guitar play isn't so tough,a simple chord but it fits so well with the song.The singer has a voice as if he's a huge smoker.A very impressive song,lots of positivity,it's as simple as THTH All I Can Do,but this one is far more catchier:)



11)Midlake-ROSCOE
What>??Midlake again??Yes i am twice as surprised as u are.This one is very special and from the start it gets you all attentive...this song is so good,but it's so gloomy that even the Barcelona guys won't be able to cheer you up after this masterpiece song.At the beginning:'Stone cutters made them from stones' and the other lyrics:'Whenever i was a child i wonder what if my name had changen to something more productive like Roscoe'. I don't know i get the creeps when i listen to this track,listen carefully to the lyrics.Midlake are masters,so much sense.The whole song is like a story,a story of some character,living a sad life.Damn this song is so decent,like a verse.I'm loving Midlake for their storytelling lyrics especiaaly,they are so wonderful.


10)Hot Chip-BOY FROM SCHOOL
Ha now to be honest,i am a bit dissapointed with their album.It was released in the beginning of the year.So this song is pioneering all the way in my favourite 2006 songs.From the start till the end I'm loving every piece of it.The electronica sounds is so fantastic.it puts u in a groove.Hot Chip are an electro band but the guys sing so great,as if they are pros,maybe they just try.But anyway it's so good to hear great electronica effects together with brilliant vocals.The end is a bit fatigue,but it is so in to change tempos and rhythms.I love this song for the unsimple electronic sound,never heard this kind of mix before.Wonderful job'And i was a boy from schooooooooool'.

9)Simian Mobile Disco-HUSTLER
There you go folks this one is for all the hustlers and those who love to dance to our beloved 'indie'tunes.This is my favourite disco song of 2006.Hustler is long,like a real disco song should,it goes in a rap direction,but I'm fine with that.It's not very rough,has some electroclash effects.Hustler will make a good warm up.Btw it wasn't played in clubs,I gave this song to my buddy DJ so that he would give this tune a try.It's so cool cause the crowd was very satisfied.I'm totally loving this song,i would recommend to this one to all the disco lovers.Man Simian Mobile Disco are a gem,they play such good music for the dancefloor.Hustler is a very sexy song,ans a kind off interesting sexy video.The lyrics aren't very tight but don't care about it.Let the sound move your feet,boom boom boom'push it push it push it'.And check other Simian Mobile Disco tracks.


8)Beirut-MOUNT WROCLAI
To all of you out there,Beirut's favourite song is Postcards From Italy right??Well not by me.You see I'm russian,Russia's native instrument is of course the harmonica,all my ancestors adore this instrument.I didn't like it very much.But when i heard Beirut i fell in love with it.Fell in love with this song,Mount Wroclai is so amazing,everything is unique.The vocals,the harmonica,the drums,the other weird instruments they create a spicy eastern-europe mix,as if gypsies are dancing by a fire.Poor you if u haven't seen how gypsies sing.So Mount Wroclai is a like an US version of all the fine eastern-european music traditions.So that's why it's so great.That's also not simple song,it's a piece of art,Huge respect to Zack,19 years,made this great song,,he is GOD,a one-man balkan orchestra.



7)White Rose Movement-ALSATIAN
Here we go,ladies and gentlemen.I introduce you,my favourite band of 2006,their KICK LP is my favourite record of 2006.White Rose Movement play such amazing music.Alsatian has such energy,it's so rock,it's a heavy indietronica song.Just like the way i like it,smashing drum work,rockin'guitar play,synthetizers and a synthetic change voice.Damn it's so fucking glorious.This music like Alsatian is good for listening while walking in a big industrial city.I study now in Saint-Petersburg.After Uni i just put Alsatian on and walk through the city,everything is so intense and get so hyped while listening to this tune,u turn to the left u see tons of people,u look straight u see a traffic jam,on the left is a man with face covered in blood.So the huge city life,the huge city feeling is inside this song,a city where everybody is grey and hateful.Alsatin gives u power and hype,u feel unstopable while listening to it.As it is sung: 'Cause your blood is alive'


6)Howling Bells-LOW HAPENNING
Low Hapenning has also been one of my top tracks since the beginning of the year.The whole album is rather dissapointing,but this tune is excellent.Low Happening is also one of those kind off time machine songs.Going back to the 80's but with a spark of electronics.Either ways this tune is more indirtronic,maybe sometimes plain indie rock,but with a garage rock smell.I love the beginning,when the electric guitar sets the pace,just love that sound.The girl's vocals are pretty impressive,i would Say Low Hapenning is very similar to Controller.Controller or Be Your Own Pet.Damn this song has some flavour,reminds of the cool times when leather jackets and dirty jeans were fucking famous.Howling Bells did a pretty good job and created this song,two thumbs up for Low Happening!'You Listen To Trash But It's My Rock'n Roll' lovin' this part.


5)Tokyo Police Club-NATURE OF THE EXPERIMENT
As in Low Happening the beginning is so amazing,the guitar sounds so goood.Discovered Tokyo Police Club not long ago,their music just hit me.They are similar to the Strokes,but don't have that mainstream stupid sound.Tokyo Police Club are going strong,I love their EP,all the tracks are stable potential hits.The lyrics are quite good and enjoyable.So these guys would be the best avant-rock band of 2006,singing about computers and robots capturing the planet .This song is a bit short but it's a splended piece of indie rock.The hand clapping in other tracks is a great idea.In This song the'GO'part is wicked,after the word magic riffs catch your attention.Surely u ought to hear this track.


4)As Tall As Lions-SUMMER
Now as i know they have been argues about this song's name.I know that it is not called summer,but I don't remember the original track's name.So let it be 'SUMMER'.So the art-rockers As Tall As Lions were a huge surprise to me this year.They have such a perfect album,oh my.And this track summer is so terrific,it's unusual,very avant-garde a bit of experimental and so beautiful.At 0.36 is a very decent part,where the guitar starts playing.And at 1:07 the second like 'part' begins,where the music reaches another level,becomes more rockier,and the song really burst off at 2:30 really has that rock-out attitude, just lovin' it.And then calms down at 3:05,oh gosh,,such sweet and smooth vocals.Damn this song really makes me think that there's nothing better,wow.Summer is the most creative song of 2006.As Tall As Lions are very talanted lads.


3)The Decemberists-YANKEE BAYONET
Aaaah what a great start to this song.As always i have loved Colin's vocals,and in this song the vocals are so fantastic.h this song is simply charming,all the war themes,medieval soldiers and wizards take over my imagination.My favourite part is when the girl really shows the beauty of her voice at 1:45,wow that's what i say when i listen to this part.All in all yankee Bayonet is also like a theatrical performance about the medieval times.Imagine a brave french soldier,dressed in a classic army dress battles against enemies with a sword while his princess is waiting for him.That's why 'I will be home then' is mentioned in the title.In the end this brave soldier dies and his princess flees to his dead body.A song about love,love rulened by war.Well Yankee Bayonet is simply charming a song in a classic Decemberists flavour .No.3 for this great masterpiece.


2)Maritime-YOUNG ALUMNI
And again,Maritime,oh i simply adore these guys.This time they are at No.2,with 'Young Alumni modern cocktail drinker'.:) I really dig te beggining,love those great guitar solos.Listening to this track i think about myself when i was 17-18 years old.Imagine a boy,who wants to try it all,he has all these indie clothes,a fall out boy who is all alone.This character is Young Alumni,a boy seeking for love,but doesn't know all the lifes traps.That's what comes to head when i listen to this indie-pop/rock song.'Love is no big deal,the falling you feel'.The lyrics are good,too.I don't know any minuses to this track,it's at No.2 ,beacuse i prefer Indietronica a bit better.But the Alumni boy is a nice friendly sing-along song.


1)White Rose Movement-TESTCARD GIRL
Here it is,no one should be surprised with my decision.I think the people that know me,have a clue how much i dig indietronica and especially White Rose Movement.So this year WRM are on top.Testcard Girl is a killer track.
It's like Alsatian in the way that while walking in an evil and greu city like Saint-Petersburg it gets u hyped,u feel yourself so powerful and independent,as if you're on top of the world.Testcard Girl is so cool,powerful,well-done.I love the instrument selection and the drum beat.And that fake voice is so fucking great.Can't stop listening to it,from the beginning the song goes following it's normal rhythm but the fave part starts at 1:28 with a blast of energy...'next to the heart next to the lie'and at 1:59 it goes all like LONDON'S MINE,damn the drums are so well,sound perfection.It's like a war song,at war with the unfair at war with myself..The key lyrics are:'I try to remember who the fuck i am'Love Love Love this track.


So i Hope that u like my revision of the top songs in 2006.So here are the 8 track that didn't make the cut,didn't make the TOP 42 of 2006 :D

If u are a BRIGHT EYES fan or a JOSE GONZALES,,you'll definetely like this album.... acoustic guitar and great vocals take this album to the win

-This amazing band from Scotland made this great album,,and i bet only a few people know this band:))
But I'll compare this band to ARCADE FIRE

3.Band of Horses-Everything All The Time

This albums takes u away,,the sound and the vocals are amazing.. melancholic tracks mix with happy shiny songs:))U just can't hate this album,, listen and enjoy to!!The Funeral is one of my favourite tracks of 2006

-This album is very good indeed,,sometimes the songs are boring but the boringness adds a special feeling to this album.The band plays dark/indie:)))That music genre is great,,if u wanna chill than put this album on,I\d say that this album is rather underrated:) so give this album a try!!!

5.White Rose Movement-Kick

-Again an amazing album,,,almost half of the songs are my potential favs,,with time this band will be my No.1 artist.But somehow almost everyone of my last.fm pals don't like this band.Their music really has that 80's electro feeling to it like: JOY DIVISON,DEPECHE MODE And the songs are good to get your groove on:))although i addmit that 2 songs are very boring but that doesn't bother me..
top album,I love their music:)) 80's are back in 2006,, indietronica for the win!

-I love this dude's vocals and this album is my TOP 5 of the year!!His music is ace but sometimes rather strange,, the rhythms change,,melodies.!!! but basically he plays indie/folk with a special flavour of sweetness!!You'll definetely like DAN BEJAR's muic,because i dont know any similar artist to DESTROYER!To mention he is from the NEW PORNOGRAPHERS supergroup! and also he is with SWAN LAKE now

7.Placebo-Meds

- I just love PLACEBO ,especially this album!and once again the critics review's and scores don't match my opinion!Maybe it's just cause i don't know what is good music and what is bad music.But all i can say that every,,every song is a fucking hit:)) my love for PLACEBO is huge,and I rated this album very high because i enjoyed it.. with time Placebo got better not worser,Placebo got me into this 'Indie' music so i dont care what the others think of this album

8.Boy Kill Boy-Civilian

-The best newcomers of 2006....and a great album by them.I never heard anything this rocky since the Arctic Monkeys,no one caught my ear with such rock tunes like BOY KILL BOY...CIVILIAN is truly a real indie/rock album..If u are into THE RAKES,KUBICHEK! then this is the one to listen to... and however my view differs. ill just call this album: ACE.

-Well this is my album No.25 of the year,,with two words it's one of the last..but anyway i find GOMEZ a pretty nice band.I thought this album would be a rocky one but it was almost all about folk tunes..some songs suck very bad where they sing like: boouhu booohu (lol),,but some are good.-The good ones are listened often by me!

11.Maritime-People,The Vehicles

-SO here it is mates,,my favourite akbum of 2006 has arrived.I just love this album...all the songs are gorgeous masterpieces..definetely MARITIME have gained experience since their last album.
Each song makes me wanna sing along,this album is just a indie/pop sensation!I'm lovin' it!

12.Tokyo Police Club-A Lesson In Crime

- A fucking awesome indie/rock band has!Also one of my new favs of 2006.I really think that they are like THE STROKES which i hate.. but i love TOKY POLICE CLUB..
this EP is amazing,,every song's end is a beginning of a new song,that's what i call a masterpiece..+ plus the music is fast,,the one to which u wanna jump around!

13.The Black Heart Procession-The Spell

-A very unknown,,i mean underrated band.I never heard of a band like this one..They have this unique,tropical feeling to their songs,, i compare them to COLD WAR KIDS!!! i reaaly want u guys to give em a try.. cuz this band is special.. they have 6 or 7 album and only 22 thousands of listeners

14.Final Fantasy-He Poos Clouds

-A very very very strange album by a very very strange artist,,,Owen pallet a.k.a Final fantasy!!His music consists of many weird things,,from violin solos to screaming!!!Although his album HAS A GOOG HOME was better than this!but I always admired his music.. )) and this album is rather gorgeous that bemusing!!

15.Snow Patrol-Hands Open

-a magnificent return of the Scottish indie/rock band SNOW PATROL… I compare them to THE KILLERS,,but have more sweetness in them,,, only the track: HANDS OPEN is more rock than any other song.. and once again my vuew is my view,,because this album rocked my socks some 4 months ago,,and even today I give it a listen.:)))) this album is just pretty mainstream maybe that takes off some points.. but a really really good album this is

--Wow,,never heard such great music as BEIRUT plays…I saw many reviews and articles bout this band when u didn’t know this band..
But I gave em a try and was just fascinated by the beauty of this music)) it’s like indie/folk mixed with gypsy music)Sometimes it reminds me of the game Alladin,,some tracks are like music from those Arabian games,,giving an north African/Balkan feeling…
Zach Condon was just 19 years old when his Cd came out… so huge props to that dude,,, respect him!!!

Personally I like the EP better,,,but this Lp has only some 4 great songs,, the first 3 are great!!!But then the music turns into a mix of lousy tunes and howls,then the lame turns in… but anyway a good album…..:))) it’s one of the least faves of my top

Never liked anything like that but iForward Russia can keep me up for days))I would recommend this album to anyone,,but many of my friends don’t like it…some say that the vocals are too bad… but this band is somehow experimental and great in it’s own way… Give me a waaaal)))

-One of the best electro albums of 2006))!!Hot Chip have a mix in their album of fast/danceable tracks and some slow,,love songs for the sensivite people)I really like those danceable songs that’s why I got a little bit disappointed with Hot Chip..but gave em some listens and the slow songs also became awesome to me!!!:))Hot Chip did a great job )) all you electro fans must dig this album!

-This is the best EP of this year it only has 5 songs,,but these 5 songs go so well together… I just love when the next track begins from the end of the past track… and it gives an amazing feeling.. I didn’t want this EP to end,,,but these 5 songs are not enough)) but truly,,a masterpiece by Spencer Krug’s crew

-This Voxtrot,,,this is one hell of a band and indie pop/rock band who I don’t know any similar artist to!!!
They released two ace EP’s,,this is one of them that is rather worse than RAISED BY WOLVES…but all in all I like the vocals and the whole band’s play) kinda reminds me of Midlake!!!But much more positive,,,, sometime too childish

-A nice band here called KLAXONS,,, and true,,they have Klaxon sounds in their tracks,,,, their Ep is nice,, but THE BOUNCER is one shitty song.. the others are so wicked and energetic)) makes u wanna dance and freak out!!They could be the new indie/rock sensation!!!
