Top 20 Singles of 2006:
Just the top 20 singles (non album tracks) I enjoyed this past year.
#20: Sexy Love
I remember saying this was just 'So Sick' part deux but after a while it grew to be my fav from his album. The beat is just too cool.
Really wasn't expecting something as good as this considering all the duds that were being released before this one. Nice first single.
#18: 4 Minutes
I actually downloaded this song back in Aug of '05 and it's still just as hot as was then.
Another surpising track. I had written Cherish off as a gimick group but this song and their album proved me wrong.
#16: Take Me As I Am
One of Mary's best songs period. Perfect production.
#15: Lost Without You
I am sooooo glad that this song is FINALLY catching on with people. It's taken him over a year to get this album out and to see people feelin' it is wonderful.
#14: Kick, Push
My anthem of the year. Lupe is hands down the best new emcee.
#13: Say Goodbye
I love this song, granted I have become very tired of Bryan Michael Cox' repetitve production. But this is still a good song.
#12: Runaway Love (Feat. Mary J. Blige)
Luda put it down on this track. Nice change for him and of course Mary brings even more to it.
I've been in love this song ever since I heard it on AOL First Listen. Did anyone else have that rip too? lol Ciara came back with something diffrent and HOT. I woulda never guessed she would have so much success with a slow jam. Remember 'And I?' lol
#10: Too Little Too Late
JoJo is the truth when it comes to the vocals. Hard to believe she's so young.
Beyonce FINALLY released a good song. I've never been a fan of her single choices but this song is FIYAH!
#08: My Love (feat. T.I.)
Timbo put it down on the production. I could do w/o Justin's vocals on this track. That falsetto can get annoying after hearing it on the radio all the time, but it's still hot. And T.I.'s verse was on point.
#07: What You Know
Best Rap track of the year. Production, Production! Can u tell how important production is to me? lol
I was so not expecting Fergie to have a track as hot as this. I don't really care for her, but London Bridge was one of my guilty pleasures and this just made me listen to the album and she actually has some good tracks. The lyrics are corny, but who's listening to them anyway? It's all about the hot sample.
#05: Need A Boss (feat. Ludacris)
My favorite new artist of the year. She is getting slept on soooo bad. This track shoulda been Number 1 on the urban charts. Hot Vocals, Hot Hook, Hot Production + a Hot verse from Luda....Hello, is that not screaming Number 1? lol Hopefully she'll get some shine in 2007.
#04: Say It Right
The production theme continues...Timbaland outdid himself with this one. This song could be used to hypnotize people it's so good. I love Nelly's vocals. They're so unique, no one could mimic them. Only she could pull off a song like this.
#03: Can't Get Enough
The REAL voice came back in 2006. Another slept on artist pretty much her entire career, but that hasn't stopped her from putting out good music. Rodney laced her with a future classic.
#02: Ain't No Other Man
HOT, HOT, HOT!!! X-Tina...Urm Baby Jane brought us back to basics with this retro meets 90's hip/hop track. I'm so glad she hook up with DJ Premier.
#01: A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me)
From the moment I heard the snippet of this I knew it was gonna be my fav song of the year. Only Monica can do this song. Love the sample, production and Mo's rap. "...Butter on my shimp, I'm the Gladys, u the Pip..." HoT! And those adlibs at the end...Only Mo.
