It looks like you asked, about two years ago, about Charlie Poole's version of White House Blues: Did Bill Monroe do a version of this? Sure I've heard it before and I think it was done by Bill? I say: Yes, Bill Monroe and pretty much everyone else living or dead has essayed a version of some version of this song. There is another contemporaneous version with the same melody about the Spanish American War titled 'the Battleship of Maine.' Even AP Carter stole the chorus 'from buffalo...to washington' and used it in a completely unrelated song titles 'the cannon ball'. Great record but nothing to do with either the McKinley assassination or the 'War to Free Cuba.' How've you been?
