STS? That's a tall order sir. If they could figure out a way to stream my current forecast as I play the songs... Tree of Tongues is definitely dumbed down, but still has enough character for my liking. As you've seen I've had a recent "rediscovery" of the band. Much prefer Bed In Darkness.

What do you think about Weightless? I don't think it flows quite as well as their first CD.

Thanks a ton man. I'm actually about to see Animals as Leaders in concert in November here at the University of Cincinnati. Fucking stoked.

I'm all for unique sounds and artists taking music in new directions, but reducing metal to a bland cluster-fuck of poly-rhythmic thrashing is not creative, it's just taking one element from another, more interesting genre and acting like doing only that is new and revolutionary. Having harmonically challenged, rhythmically over-saturated riffs, does not a new genre make. Cutting edge? No. Overproduced? Yes. That said, I have actually encountered bands labeled as "djent" that were actually good, but that's mostly because they were entirely different from the sound that the word "djent" was created to describe.

Spotify is sick dude, not for finding new music necessarily, but for finding the music you are looking for very quickly and being able to listen to their whole catalog (in most cases). LEGALLY! Literally dude, I saw Periphery in your top 10 - typed it into Spotify, and was listening to their whole album within seconds. I pay for the service, so I can also download it to play offline - and on my iPhone (which I'll do, Periphery is badass very similar to AAL from the first few listens). So yeah - it's basically replaced piracy for me, which from the founders of Spotify was its purpose!

Listening to music occasionally isn't about being inspired for me, it's about hearing something that is pleasing to my ears (lower level brain) - not necessarily my upper level brain if you know what I'm talking about. It'd be like listening to Arch Enemy, versus listening to Spawn of Possession. Arch Enemy is melodic and easy to listen to, inducing sporadic head banging - Spawn of Possession requires intense focus and concentration on what's going on in the music else you'll get lost. I like both equally, just depends on the mood you know?

rofl, as regards to the Seether. I've stopped caring about what people on the internets think of my listening habits - it's catchy music, so I listened to it for a while. Spotify has given my access to too much music I liked hearing at one point on the radio - so I'm tracking a few of those down. You'll also notice I listen to dance music, cannibal corpse, and all kinds of other music! My favorite will always be death metal though, just like some variety.

Sorry for that pm, I did it by accident while was trying to figure out how the android app works. Anyways you should check out this group [group]dissonant network[/group], at least it seems to have some interesting reviews. I will check visions soon, just don't have the right mood for it right now.
