Man, what a concert!

Muse: I was initially more pumped to see Muse than I was to see U2 (given how No Line on the Horizon left me completely underwhelmed), especially considering how eagerly I was anticipating hearing some stuff from The Resistance.

Their set was awesome…but too short! That being said, I was completely psyched when they started playing Plug in Baby! I had not expected them to play this at all. Still, despite playing a short set, Muse were fucking awesome. Other than the already mentioned surprise, other…

So, Massive Attack are my top 10th listened band (tied with New Order), and I feel weirdly obliged to say that this is almost solely due to one album: Mezzanine.

Now, this isn't to say I dislike their other albums. Blue Lines is a really solid album, and 100th Window has a couple of especially good tracks, like Future Proof, Small Time Shot Away, and Antistar. I never really liked Protection that much, as it feels like an inferior clone of Blue Lines.

So, I have a really good friend who doesn't listen to music in the sense of most people on here. He has a few albums by The Beatles and random MP3s on his computer, but he's not really into music as much as some people (like me).

I've mentioned wanting to expose him to some really good music, and he encouraged me to select some albums for him to listen to. I've finally gotten around to doing just that.

Is it just me, or does The Overload sound very much like a Joy Division song? The sparse instrumentation, the slightly menacing feel, the vocals, all make The Overload sound like a Joy Division song.

It sounds quite similar to I Remember Nothing, in fact. Does anyone else hear the similarity?

BTW, I'm not accusing David Byrne of ripping off Joy Division or anything. I just couldn't help but notice that the songs sound similar. Perhaps Byrne got himself a copy of Unknown Pleasures before recording Remain in Light.
