  • Our Latest Remixes (trance, electro, hard dance)

    13 mar 2013, 15:22

These tracks were actually released a while ago, but I haven't mentioned them on Last.fm yet, so here goes:

Remixing Everything Seems Like The Best Option by The Day After The Last Crime as remixed by Imperium Nova

    Tracklist:
01 - Falcon in the Gloomy Sky (Space Flight Mix by Bart Nova)
02 - Destroying Everything Seems Like The Best Option (Desintegration Funk by Alien Kontenaaier)
03 - The Last Days (Dark Summer Mix by Alex Kontra)

This little EP contains 3 songs by band The Day After The Last Crime, remixed by 3 members of Imperium Nova. The original versions of the tracks originally appear on TDATLC's first Demo, and all 3 remixes also appear on their Remix EP. As you might have guessed, the title of our remix EP is inspired by track 2 from the demo.

The first track is Bart Nova's rework of Falcon In The Gloomy Sky, in a style that combines atmospheres, groovy beats, and synths. Pretty , if I say so myself ;)

Next is Alien Kontenaaier's remix of Destroying Everything Seems Like The Best Option. It's the only remix of the 3 that actually uses sounds from the original. Surprisingly, it's not the guitars that where sampled, but in fact the drums, cut up to make some -. The track has a rather unexpected switch in style when it reaches its climax, announced by an appropriate vocal sample. I'm not going to ruin the surprise though, so you'll have to check it out for yourselves...

And finally, there is the Alex Kontra remix of The Last Days (Summer Epic Part 2). After an ominous sounding intro, the tracks moves into / territory. Out of the 3 remixes, this one is probably the most -compatible.

In related news: The Day After The Last Crime have recently released 2 new EPs with new songs, and I'm pleased to announce that they have invited us to once again provide remixes! Hopefully they'll turn out at least as good (hopefully even better) as the first batch :)

And here is a little ongoing project:

    Random Remixes by Imperium Nova
A collection of remixes made by Imperium Nova-artists, from various sources.

    Current tracklist:
01 - Xyloblast - 精神 (Clubminded Mix by Bart Nova)
02 - Corroded Master - Last Truths (Instrumental Lies Mix by Alex Kontra)

This is not really an album in the usual sense of the word, since this release is not complete. We intend to add more remixes to this collection when we finish them, or when we recover them from the Imperium Nova archives. And since we have more than 3000 finished and unfinished tracks scattered across various hard drives, that could take a while...

Anyway, the release currently contains 2 remixes:
The first is Bart Nova's club/trance remix of 精神 ("Seishin") by Xyloblast, which also appears on Xylo's album You Mean Love!?.
Secondly, there is Alex Kontra's remix of Last Truths by Corroded Master, turning the track into a /-hybrid (in !).

When I add more tracks to the collection, I'll most likely mention it on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BartNova - so make sure to like the page so you can stay updated on our productions, and find links to our downloadable tracks!

Also, if you're looking for someone to remix your tracks, or want to remix one of our tracks, or want to collaborate, feel free to contact us!
Send me message via Last.fm if you're interested.
  • Our Latest (Free) Releases - March 2013

    4 mar 2013, 10:52

An update on our latest two releases:

    Viral by Alex Kontra
The first Alex Kontra single, a preview of his upcoming ep/mini-album.

    Tracklist:
    01 - Viral
02 - Viral (Bio-Warfare Mix by Corroded Master)
    03 - Kross:Kontamination

The title track is a medium tempo track with beats and atmosphere, influenced by artists such as Combichrist, Reaper, Sam, etc.
Corroded Master's remix gives the track a slight /-edge, and still retains the track's grit.
The b-side track Kross:Kontamination is less of a dancefloor track, and more of an / crossover. A deep, slow groove with crunchy, glitchy synth sounds.

Alex's upcoming ep/mini-album will also contain a charged up -oriented remix of Viral, made by Bart Nova and Alien Kontenaaier.

You can hear the single here on Last.fm, or grab a free download from Bandcamp (http://alexkontra.bandcamp.com/).

Ros Erop Los! by Alien K's Allstarz
The first Alien K's Allstarz release, a track recovered from the Imperium Nova-archives.

    Tracklist:
01 - Ros Erop Los! (Kontenaaier's Trieste Radio Edit)
02 - Ros Erop Los! (Da Rimboe Zigeuner Remix)
03 - Ros Erop Los! (Kontenaaier's Trieste Klub Mix)
04 - Ros Erop Los! (Da Rimboe Zigeuner Demo Mix)

A blend of , (early) , and . Definitely dancefloor material!

Includes the original demo version by Da Rimboe Zigeuner and his later remix, Alien K's extended "klub" rework, and a shorter version of that mix (for the casual hardstyle listener).

Check it out here on Last.fm, or get the free download at Bandcamp (http://ak-allstarz.bandcamp.com/).

Stay tuned for an update on our latest remixes!

  • Free dance/trance/chillout/electronica album

    6 dec 2010, 13:41

I just realised that I haven't mentioned in my Last.fm blog that my "first album" is available for download, for free. The reason I'm using quotation marks when I say "first album" is because it's actually more of a compilation. The album is appropriately called ReCollected Works: some of the tracks were already listenable at Last.fm, but I reworked, re-edited and remastered most of them. Also included is an exclusive, previously unreleased track, Roboballad. The album is available as 320 kb/s mp3, FLAC, OGG, and more – which is a lot better than Last.fm's 128 kb/s mp3-quality!

    The tracklist is a follows:
    01 Field Work (Dub)
    02 Destiny
    03 The Hype
    04 Mesmerize
    05 Intimate Moments (ReWorked)
06 I Suppose You Want To See The Drawing Room?
    07 Serenity (Re-Edit)
    08 Moonlight Interlude
    09 Future Funk
    10 Dream Addiction (Trance Edit)
    11 Haze
    12 Sigh...
    13 Roboballad

    Genre-wise, it's rather varied, containing , , , , , , and some stuff inbetween.

You can download the album for free from Jamendo and from Bandcamp.

Hi-res album artwork files are included with the Bandcamp download. Jamendo users can get theirs right here. Notice that both sites have a tiny difference in tracklisting, hence the different artworks.

That's it for now. Feel free the leave comments/feedback/remix requests!
  • Update on Imperium Nova tracks

    19 apr 2010, 07:04

Due to Last.fm retiring their on-demand listening function, I have made (almost) every track from the Imperium Nova catalogue available as a free download. This includes releases by myself (Bart Nova) as well as the EPs by Alien Kontenaaier and Mark Weather.

Currently I'm also exploring other ways of 'releasing' tracks. I might upload new tracks to Jamendo, seeing as their catalogue supports higher sound quality for the downloads. I'm also considering changing the Imperium Nova homepage to something that's easier to update.

In the meantime, Alien K uploaded two tracks to YouTube. These two aren't (yet) available anywhere else, so if you're interested, check them out:

First is 666 bpm, a short track.

The second one is Prawn Crackerz, a neat track with funky synthstabs and the typical Alien K sounds.

  • It's been a while - time for my new release!

    29 mar 2008, 20:30

    Hello everyone,

Today I'm presenting my new Last.fm release: Bart Nova - ElectroChrome - The EP.
A little while ago, I compiled a CD for a classmate featuring some old tracks, and some stuff I had written especially for that CD. Since the guy is a fan of all that electro-house that's so popular nowadays, I thought that it would be nice to try and choose the more electro-influenced tracks from my discography for the disc.
Besides ElectroChrome - The Album. there is also ElectroChrome - DJ Promo, which is a 6 track EP featuring the extended, "mixable" versions of some tracks on the album. But what we have here, is ElectroChrome - The EP, a small selections of tracks from both the album and the promo.

    Tracklist:

1 - Let Me Show You...

The opening track is a mellow house track with some trancier elements. Not much electro going on here, except for maybe the crunchy lead melody. Groovy piece.

    2 - A Better Life

Another house track, quite similar to Let Me Show You... although the bassline is a bit more electro-house styled. Plucky guitar-like synth provides the lead, accompanied by some gated pads.

3 - Let Me Show You The Extended Mix

The name speaks for it's self: this is an extended dj-friendly version of the first track.

    4 - A Better Life (Extended Mix)

And again: An extended dj-friendly version of the second track.

    5 - Viral

This one is a lot heavier than the rest, a bit dark electro/hard trance in style. I guess Reaper inspired this track. A bass heavy groove with some rough synths.

    6 - The Waiting Room

Time for some more variations: this track is a sort of interlude. Some pads and e-piano flowing on a simple
    electro rhythm. Moody.

    7 - Constructor

The last track is more tech-trance orientated. Stabby leads with a little synth-choir action starting from
the break, all chugging along a nice techy-housey groove. And dj-friendly too!

If anyone wants some hi-quality versions, or maybe an entire (actual, physical, real life) CD, contact me :)
  • Time for a new release! 8 more tracks, free!

    13 dec 2007, 20:25

I thought it was about time to upload some more track form my vast collection of creation! There is no real theme or anything going on here, these are just 8 more tracks I have made over the years...
I picked them almost at random, or else it would have taken me another month or so simply deciding which tracks to upload, and which to re-edit, or remaster, or save for later...

So here we go, a track by track description of my new release, Collected Works - Volume 2!

    1 - Serenity (Original Mix)

An old trance track that I made in a very short period of time. Starts out with some floaty pads, and builds up from there. Nothing spectacular, but a nice tracks from listenin', a warm up, if you will...

    2 - Destiny

Another older trance track of mine, this one has an epic melody after it's breakdown. I'm quite proud of that melody, and I also like the way the (gated) pads work out. I might remake this one later on.

    3 - Da Hype

A short funky breakbeat/electro track. Made mostly to just pass the time, and has a nice laid back vibe going on.

4 - I Suppose You Want To See The Drawing Room?

A bit of an odd little track. Very short, since it was actually just made for me to test the programming of the lead synth. Serves as a bit of an interlude.

5 - Dream Addiction (Trance Edit)

I made the demo version of this driving trance track over a year ago, and made the finished version a couple of weeks back. It's main features are a nice flanged pad and a thick, rolling arp melody. Very atmospheric, this might be my favorite track of this EP.

    6 - Intimate Moments

This is a downtempo track I made at my girlfriend (Annetje16)'s house. Since I didn't have all my usual tools there, this track might sound a bit lo-fi in places. The main lead is an melancholic wind instrument. Another track with a well devoloped atmosphere, if I may say so myself...

    7 - Haze

A banging hard trance track ispired by the likes of Lab-4. Double bassline, and double synthlines provide quite the punch. the track does sound a little rough around the edges.
There was some additional unused material left after I finished this track, which later became a track called "Security Breach", produced by me and a friend of mine (Wessel, from Wezz & Fisher).
This track, in all three it's versions, will probably turn up on Last.fm later on.

    8 - Serenity (Re-Edit)

The final track is a re-edited version of track one, Serenity. The difference between the two versions is the length (this one is shorter), and some different percussion sounds.

And that's it. Some variety here, although I still have a lot of different stuff I want to upload, since I find it hard to choose which ones are "ready", as I mentioned in the first paragraph.
Some of the releases that I'm planning to upload are teh Security Breach EP, trance & ambient tracks from Mark Weather (W00t3R), a collection of video game remixes I have made, bunch of hardcore tracks I made a long long time ago in Rave eJay (they're actually quite good), and a whole lot of other tracks I've made over the years, varying from ambient to breakbeat, to trance, to hardcore...

Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy this new release from Bart Nova, on the Imperium Nova label!
  • Collabs this time: 6 more free tracks released!

    8 okt 2007, 06:32

    Hi all,

There is a new EP available on my labelpage (Imperium Nova). The EP contains six tracks that were all made by me + other artists. Some of them are a bit old, but you might still enjoy them. I did update some of the tracks, adding some compressor and other fx here and there...
The EP is called Synergy 1.

Time for a short track by track description:

    1. Bart Nova & Mark WeatherWood Of Desire
Trance track with strings, bells, piano, and some synthy stuff. Quite typical of Wouter's (Mark) style at the time, although the overal arrangement is more my style. An intro strings, followed by some building beats, leading to a breakdown introducing the piano riff and some simplistic breaks, followed by a basic trance style climax. Not really full on or mega uplifting, but still quite nice.

    2. Bart Nova & SedyCoron X
Sven (Sedy) has recently started experimenting with music software, and this is one of his tracks for which he ran out of ideas. So I took the sourcefile and molded it into this nice lil' trancer. Quite dancey, slightly frantic lead.

    3. Bart Nova & Mark WeatherFairytale (Old School Mix)
On of the first tracks I made with Wouter, this tracks has a pretty old school trance vibe to it, a bit 95-ish. Ironicly the track was made 5 years later... Again the bells, but also some nice layered synthlines. I deliberatly kept the overal sound a bit "cheap" to stay with the concept/feel of the track.

    4. Nova & LuukLuuk Gaat Kutte (Updated Mix)
While at a LAN party organised by a friend, I showed Luuk how I made my music. He was also interested in making some tracks, and we started writing one right away. Luuk has some pretty good piano skills, although it doesn't really show in this track :P Melody is quite original though. This version is a bit different from the original, since I made the original without any outside software, unlike most of my own tracks (I didn't make it on my own computer).

    5. Nova & LuukLuuk Gaat Kutte (Live @ LAN Mix)
Guess I already said enough about this track already :)

    6. Bart Nova & Mark WeatherIdentity
Our latest collaboration is a nice mellow downtempo track, with some dreamy pads.
We made this track for a CD that we gave to a teacher as a farewell present when we were still in highschool. The rest of the CD were all tracks by me, plus one solo track by Wouter: Evolution.

There was going to be an extra track titled "Security Breach", a furious hard trancer made by me and Project G., but since G had already made a personal remix, I thought I'd make one myself aswell, so that I could release all three versions at once.

    That's all for now...

    Bart Nova.
  • 20K Scrobbled + Update On Free Tracks

    21 sep 2007, 09:36

Since I recently scrobbled my 20.000th track, I thought I'd check out my stats...

    Current Eclectic Score: 82/100
    Mainstreamness: 5.60 %

    20.000 - Taucher - Waters (Phase III)
19.000 - Icon Of Coil - headhunter (exclusive single edit)
    18.000 - Ozric Tentacles - Myriapod
    17.000 - DieTRAX - kiss me more
    16.000 - Freezepop - Bike Thief
15.000 - Moonitor - Wicked Polar Breakz (Online Single Edit)
    12.000 - REDALiCE - Funky Light
11.111 - DJ Tatana - Soul Cry (Sam Sharp remix)
11.000 - Johan Gielen - TRIPLE CROSS (REMO-CON VS CASTALIA REMIX)
    8888 - Perfume - Sweet Donuts
    5555 - Planisphere - O

None of these tracks were deliberatly scrobbled, I always find out afterwards that I had past a certain amount of scrobbles, and that's when I start calculating what track made me cross the mark.

On to more interesting matters: I have started a label here on Last.fm, called Imperium Nova. This way I'll be able to upload tracks made by friends of mine, aswell as tracks I made with them. So that'll mean more free music for y'all!
Currently I'm updating a lot of old tracks of mine (and of others) so I can provide some higher quality when I add the tracks to my label.
Relases in the works include Collected Works Volume 2 and 3 for Bart Nova, as well as EPs including video game remixes I've done, and old tracks that i made during my eJay period. Furthermore I'm working on collecting tracks for a release by Mark Weather (aka W00t3R), and a release that'll feature collaborations between me and various others, including Wessel Grift, the mastermind behind
Wezz & Fisher, whose first vinyl, "Ultrablue", will be released October 12. (edit: release has been post-phoned to somewhere in januari)

But that's all stuff in the making...
  • Tracks by me, available for free!

    5 sep 2007, 14:25

    Hello everybody,

After having uploaded several of my tracks to Last.fm, I thought it might be useful to write a journal entry about it. So here it is.

I've been making music 1999, and since that time, I've produced over 200 tracks.
Since I'm not signed to label or anything, I thought it would be a waste just to let al those tracks rot away on my harddrive, with no one to listen to them, so I dumped some of my tracks on Last.fm about 2 weeks ago (although it was mainly Prog_Chick's idea).
I used a various aliases for making my tracks, but on last.fm I'll stick to just one: Bart Nova.

I thought I'd list the first batch of tracks under the album "Collected Works - Volume 1". There are 7 tracks in total on it, 5 of which can be listened to for free, two of which can be downloaded. Here is a short description of the tracks:

    1. Sigh...
The tracks aren't in any particular order, so there isn't any build up or anything. This track is a fast paced hard-trance track, with a large synth pad as lead melody. I just started playing around with some sampled drumsounds, yet this entire track evolved from it. Quite energetic and melodic.

    2. Future Funk
Very different from "Sigh...", this is a downtempo track with a bit of a trancey lead and some nice pads and beats. A nice laid back track, perhaps slightly influenced by Ulrich Schnauss.

    3. Moonlight Interlude
A short track, and a bit of a classical one. Just strings and an oboe for lead melody.

    4. Atomic
This is actually one of my better productions, a bit of a combo between trance and hardcore. Listening to Horizon (Omega Force mix) and plenty of Alek Száhala and DJ RX probably helped inspire the creation of this track. Powerful synths, a rolling bassline, and choir pads dominate this track.
If you're wondering why it isn't free, it's because this track might actually have a future, seeing as I might put this on a demo. It is available for radio play, though.

    5. Mesmerize
Can't quite remember how this track came into existance.. but it does remind me of some of L-Vee's productions, mainly his work as V-One, Meridian and The Green Martian. Anyhow, this is an upbeat trance track, revolving around a "mesmerizing" arpegio-lead, coupled with strings & pads.

    6. Field Work (Dub)
I made this track for a CD that I gave to some one as a farewell present. I think it turned out different than I meant it to do (trance instead of ambient?), but it's still quite nice. Simple yet dreamy pads, with some nice bass and beats, and some neat synthlines.

    7. Field Work (Vox)
This is actually the original version of Field Work, with some warped and chopped vocals here and there. The vocals started to annoy me after a while, so that's why I made the instrumental Dub version (which I prefer).

I'm currently scraping together material for 3 new sets of tracks: a second set of originals, a set with video game remixes I've made, and a set with old tracks of mine that I've made with eJay programs (they're actually quite nice).

That's about it. Feel free to check it out, and gimme a shout if you have anything to say about the tracks :)
