Out of personal interest I've put together a list of Dutch artists' popularity, according to Last.fm. Some things have surprised me and I hope someone other than me finds this useful ;). There are about 7000 Dutch listeners, so I picked any artist with a higher amount of listeners.

I usually don't really care about covers. If it's not something really different from the original i don't see the point of making a cover. I only really like one if the artist really made it it's own.

I've noticed that it's considered very uncool to listen to PANIC! at the disco. At least.. In Britain. I like their music and I didn't know they were hated in the UK for being so popular and "mainstream". Here in the Netherlands no one has ever heard of them and they don't get any airtime. Here they are just another vague name that looks cool on you last.fm list or when you tell people you listen to them.
