I guess I'll do what you did, then. Last time I played I got killed randomly by some guy in front of a tent while in desperate search of ROPE. My gun was no match for his deadly spear, it seems.

HOLY SHIT the first Fallout is OLD I'm not quite sure on this but it just might be a slight bit 2hardcore4me or at the very least I'll have to kind of gradually ease into it over time if I'm going to play it. Shame because I enjoyed the intro and I'm really interested in the story. I was expecting something like Baldur's Gate, which has obviously seen better days as well, but the combat is somewhat fluid at least and the party member pathing issues are easily fixed with mods. But damn this character is moving at a snail's pace, I HAVE TO GO INTO THE INVENTORY EACH TIME TO CHANGE WEAPONS, combat is mega clumsy and completely devoid of any action, and fucking rats are kicking my ass and getting first strikes every time. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I wish a competent developer (in other words, not Bethesda) would step up and remake this game with all the original story and setting intact, because the archaic gameplay has been a huge turnoff for me so far.

man what the hell this game is wacky as shit, people are telling me to explore vaults with killer plants and mantises, there are giant ants everywhere, a stalker robot with a fake texan accent follows me around and just a few days earlier I had to help a bunch of ghouls believing in something ridiculous kill schizophrenic super mutants in a basement so they could fly into space in cartoony rockets while Ride of the Valkyries was playing. like what the fuck man.

but I'm saying that if they need all that money, they should've made it the project starting goal in the first place, instead of 900K. There's no need to sugar-coat the fact that they want or need more money with famous game designers that, in the end, are doing very little on the actual project. I may give those games a try when I have the time/I'm done with NV. They do seem to get grouped together with games like PST and Baldur's Gate often enough. And the design of the Master has always creeped me out.

What's the gameplay like in Fallout 1/2? Is it like Baldur's Gate with guns or something? I played some more of New Vegas and I can definitely say I'm having fun, which is the most important thing. For some reason I have this habit of avoiding games with guns in them, but this one doesn't seem half bad. When I read that thing about Avellone the first thing I thought was that it seems kind of a cheap shot to have the fans cough up 1 more million. He's only making 1 companion, after all. Hell, from what I've seen of the stretch goal people they hired to work on the game, I'm not quite as sure anymore.

Oho! I finally found a game you haven't played. I have to confess, I've never played a fallout game before. I was interested in this one precisely because it's made by Obsidian and not Bethesda. I recently redownloaded Oblivion with over 100 mods and it still wasnt any good. I'm only in like the second town so I really can't say anything but that it's a lot more immersive than elder scrolls with all that wasteland, radiation and "end of the world" feeling. It certainly doesn't need as many mods as elder scrolls to be good. I only have 5 or 6 active.

What do you think of New Vegas? I'm only in like the second town so I don't have a real opinion yet.

don't tell me, you were actually one of those 10000$ people all along

I know, I meant that I'm surprised random normal people like you and me would "donate" almost 2 million dollars on a new Torment. Some people even gave it 10000 dollars each. I know it's regarded as a "cult classic", at least on wikipedia, but 2 million dollars is a hefty amount to spend on a game you don't really know anything about. And I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but Avellone actually isn't working on it. At least, not yet. He's working on the "retrospective", whatever that is. That update on kickstarter was really badly worded. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if he was included in a future stretch goal or something.

Well, it looks like they've got some people from Black Isle on the project. And while I share your doubts, I can't help but hope that game developers finally get their shit together again. This and games like Project Eternity are the best shots we have at that, beyond a doubt. And holy fuck 1600000 dollars in under a day. Do you realize how much money that is? That, my friend, is an amount of money that is nothing to sneeze at.

To be honest, I know next to nothing about that game, apart from the "kiddy" art style and that it has something to do with Ghibli. I'm all for a good RPG though. Or I would be if I didn't already have 10+ of them in my backlog.

didn't they win the song contest in 2006 though? No matter. I can only remember that band as what some people thought was the "cool shit" back in early elementary school. Of course, those were the uncoolest kids in the class. No problem! Just call me when you want me to wake the rumination monster in you again.
