Moongarden (ITA) - Songs from the Lighthouse [ Studio Album ] (2008)

Genre: Retro Prog

My first Moongarden album. It is a very good album and not the 'standard'
retro-copy-prog... Nice addition: guest singer: Andy Tillison of The Tangent. Sadly I don't like the song much in which Andy sings :D

Prisma (SUI) - Collusion [ Studio Album ] (2006)

Genre: Art / Prog Metal

Well the first thing I thought when I listened to this band was: sounds like Tool... Well and you can see it that way: If you like Tool you will like this too. But the mood of this music is different... Let me describe it as 'psychedelic touch' :D don't know how to express it accuratly.. Well recommend to anyone who likes technically well played prog metal without lack of emotion / depth...

Isildurs Bane (SWE)

Genre: Symphonic / Retro Prog

MIND Volume 1 [ Studio Album ] (1997)

The MIND concept albums (Music Investigating New Dimensions) are veery dynamic and enjoying albums, although I own only the volumes 1 and 4. I buyed them after I saw Isildurs Bane live and they had a stunning live performance! The first MIND album is completely instrumental, but it is not boring!! A big and unusual instrumentation and great melodies make this album an excellent record!

Album Rating: Recommended!

MIND Volume 4: Pass [ Studio Album ] (2003)

This album of the MIND concept contains vocals for the first time. The tracks are shorter now, but nevertheless they are good tracks. It is also a very deep, complex and melodic album like MIND Volume 1 but personally Volume 1 is my favourite!

Clepsydra (SUI) - More Grains of Sand [ Studio Album ] (1994)

Genre: Neo Prog

Wow this is really good neo prog work! For any fan of neo prog as it was celebrated by Marillion with Fish this is a must have! Haunting melodies, very great guitar work. This has everything what a classic neo prog album needs!

Album Rating: Recommended!

Hostsonaten (ITA) - Springtides [ Compilation ] (2004)

Genre: Retro-Prog

I know that a compilation of rare tracks and demos is not the right cd to start with a band you don't know. But I did like the cover so I bought it :D. The sound quality is a bit poor, but anyway the are really good songs on it . I think I need some of the 'real' studio albums...

Album Rating:

Opeth (SWE) - The Roundhouse Tapes [ Live Album ] (2007)

Genre: Progressive Death Metal

A good live record! Excellent perfomance and very cool song mix... Can't wait to see this band live....

Album Rating:

Fjoergyn (GER) - Ernte im Herbst [ Studio Album ] (2004)

Genre: Progressive related

Nice album... lyrical atmopshere and I like the nature thematic of the whole album^^ Although this is not really progressive in the common sense but it's good =)

Album Rating:

Camel (ENG)

Genre: Symphonic Prog

Harbour of Tears [ Studio Album ] (1996)

Nice album. If you don't compare this to the classic camel records you get a nice album with a irish flare that don't sound synthetical!

Album rating:

A Nod and a Wink [ Studio Album ] (2002)

This is a really cool album that can compete with the classic Camel albums of the seventies. Great guitar work like in the old days and great songs!!

Album rating: Recommended!

I Can See Your House From Here [ Studio Album ] (1979)

Well there are some good songs on it but Camel had better on moments on early albums.. Hm... OK there are also some albums in the discography that are worse..... but hey^^

Album rating:

Rain Dances [ Studio Album ] (1977)

.. Same as above ...

Album rating:

Camel [ Studio Album ] (1973)

Wow this is a very cool debut album! Very strong songs like Never Let Go, Mystic Queen and Arubaluba. On the remastered edition is also a nice gem: Homage To The God Of Light (live)! Almost 20 minutes long originally from a Peter Bardens solo record!

Album rating: Recommended!

A Live Record [ Live Album ] (1978)

Excellent live double album with great live versions of classic songs like Never Let Go, Song Within A Song, Lunar Sea, Lady Fantasy and the whole Snow Goose album!

Album rating: Recommended!

Nude [ Studio Album ] (1981)

Well this is a relativly good concept album with some nice instrumental moments! And compared to what other classic 70s prog acts produced in the 80s it is really cool.

Album rating:

Ayreon (NED) - 01011001 [ Studio Album ] (2008)

Genre: Epic Progressive Metal

I think this is the best Ayreon produced so far! Great tracks, great mix of singers and as expected great guitar & keyboard work. Those who liked the Universal Migrator (especially Part I) will love this!

Album Rating: Recommended!

Fish (SCT) - Field of Crows [ Studio Album ] (2003)

Genre: Neo Prog

Yay a good record! Contains some cool songs and Fish classics like: The Field, Moving Targets & Scattering Crows

Album Rating:

Steve Hackett (ENG)

Genre: Symphonic Prog / Guitar / Blues

Blues With a Feeling [ Studio Album ] (1994)

I don't like Blues and well to be honest I don't know if this is even a good blues album or not. Anyway not my cup of tea...

Album rating:

Tribute [ Studio Album ] (2007)

I like those Hackett albums with classical guitar work. It's so relaxing and he is indeed such a great guitar player!! But I can't listen to this everyday...

Album rating:

A Midsummer Night's Dream [ Studio Album ] (1997)

... Same as above ...

Momentum [ Studio Album ] (1988)

Album rating:

Jon & Vangelis (Multi-National) - The Best Of Jon & Vangelis [ Compilation ] (1984)

Genre: Progressive Related

Hm.. Usually I like Jon Andersons voice... and maybe Vangelis is an outstanding musician. But this is really not my cup of tea.. to poppy stuff..

Album Rating:

The Black Noodle Project (FRA) - Eleonore [ Studio Album ] (2008)

Genre: New Art Rock / Heavy Prog

Yay TBNP goes to a new direction integrating metal influences and darker atmosphere to their sound. Progressing you may call it. While others won't like it new fans will like it instead! Personally it's not my favourite Noodle album but it is good...

Album rating:

Gazpacho (NOR) - Bravo [ Studio Album ] (2003)

Genre: Art Rock

What a cool band. Such a intense voice and such great tracks like Ghost, Sun God and the title track wow!

Album Rating: Recommended!

Arena (ENG) - Immortal? [ Studio Album ] (2000)

Genre: Neo Prog

A Great album! Moviedrome is a great epic and almost every other track is cool too!! Not as good as The Visitor but still awesome..
