This is my first 'favorites' post so I really don't know where to get started. Although I'll probably end up scrolling through my library and writing about whatever catches my eye or ear. So, in no particular order:
A. A Perfect Circle:
Honestly, I love most of anything Maynard has been a part of due partly to his ability to be in bands with good musicians. Currently, my favorite song by APC is
Magdalena.
2. Heaven Shall Burn:
This is one of my finds from Last.fm. They make the best sound and melody in any metal that I've heard. Favorite song for them has to be
Numbing The Pain.
III. Jurassic 5:
Lately I've been getting more and more into hip-hop but I need something more than emo-hip-hop like Sage Francis, and abstract hip-hop like Saul Williams. Plus they've split into a hole bunch of side groups like Blackalicious and Gift Of Gab. My favorite song by them has to be Back 4 U.
D. Cloud Cult:
One of my favorite indie bands. There just really mellow and I like to sit back and listen to all their songs on random. Favorite song; Who Killed Puck?
5. Mogwai:
I know they're post rock but for my liking there more ambient. Although some of their songs do get pretty heavy. Favorite track; Sine Wave
VII. Red Hot Chili Peppers:
There's nothing like them. Every song that they play has at least at least one good part to it. I can't think of one favorite but right now I'm listening to Throw Away Your Television.
G. Slightly Stoopid:
Most of their music is really good but there latest CD Chronchitis is filled with amazing works of art. When I'm listing to my music on shuffle and they come up I normally make iTunes just play Chronchitis. Favorite song;
2 AM.
8. Soulfly:
I know my taste seems to be all over the place but metal has a special place in my heart and Soulfly just seems to hit the right spot every time. favorite song; One Nation.
IX. UNKLE:
I just started listing to them a few months ago but I love how they seem to mix Trickys and Massive Attacks style. Favorite song; In A State (I've had a sick obsession with piano lately.)
J. American Head Charge:
Any time I listen to them I can't prevent myself from headbanging, it's truly unhealthy. I love any metal band that has understandable lyrics. I'd have to say my favorite song has to be Effigy 23.
Well that's it for now, hope you enjoy some of these bands.
