Scripture of the Week: A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, (Psalm 92:1-2)

..dreams a reality. If you don't think that's possible you just might not be one of the individuals that will make a great difference but you could always strive to do more. But bottom line this is why religion hasn't seemed to work for many ages, it's because there just is a lack of knowledge and many people may be going by blind faith but it does keep them moving. It's really just about educating yourself and utilizing your faith as an advantage. The more you learn about how things operate in the world the more your faith will start producing results. That's why i do believe in Christianity and much of everything else that is trying to drive a positive and peaceful environment. Sorry this was such a long tl;dr post but it annoys me to no end that misinformed people can put others down or their religious beliefs for no apparent reason. Speak your mind but being respectful in that manner can go a lot further than being fowl about it.

For a lack of common goals in life where some feel profit is more beneficial than good will or that sometimes goodwill seems more important than profit so you gotta find a balance. Everyone needs food, shelter, transportation and the fellowship of others and everything that you need in life is self sustainable including modern things like electricity, computers, ect. Currently we operate on the incentive of money but too many times there are great things that could benefit one another but money always always gets into the middle of everything and it's because we depend on it for simple things in life. It doesn't cost anything to grow food or collect rain water and renewable energy is ideal since it virtually costs no resources to manufacture wattage with a solar panel so as long there is enough light to generate the necessary power. These are simply ideas that i pondered about for awhile, but imagine how much the world could change if we put an effort into making those far fetched..

You just have to think about what kind of world you want to have and how you can start changing it within the community and that is when real change will happen because once you start thinking about realistic goals you start to see that what you think, wish, pray or dream about will start to become reality. Of course if you're just praying to God for world peace, hunger to end or to end the violence in the world it's never going to be answered because your thinking globally and in order to achieve world peace you first have to have every other person thinking the same thing but even then just thinking about it wouldn't be enough there's gotta be some real work involved. So instead of calling for world peace the idea is you have to start thinking what can i do in my community to make things better. What is causing so much of the chaos that the world has lost it's mind and for starters one realistic goal that i see is to start being self sustainable in the needs of individuals.

..than just one 'entity', such as those who are hardcore trekkies and don't believe in anything else, same with sports fanatics, Apple fanboys or scene kids, ect. and then those who are believers in Jesus and God. To me life is all about exploring what the universe has to offer but it does start with learning how your environment is and then learning how you can change it. You can't really change the entire world (such as getting off of money, eliminating poverty, crime, wars, ect and other negative life occurrences) but you can open yourself to knowledge and i think all religions should have that opportunity. Learning the behavior of humans and then start changing the environment such as giving a person what they want instead of them stealing it (for now i am talking about physical items such as a tv or land) because already we do have enough for everyone. But that is again a way to physically change the world granted if it was agreed upon (or a new world order came into play).

I'm not surprised that (being the internet) people enjoy talking about what they don't want to hear or believe in but religion is anything but superstitious, there's some proof that your thoughts do affect your reality and the reason most people are still religious and believe in God. In my experience with dealing with different philosophical views they all seem to point in a similar way of life, the overall well being of the soul. Different religions/philosophies exist because as with anything else in nature and reality people have different tastes and feelings on the matter. I grew up in a Christian environment but i only believe in God (the Universe). I do like the ideals of the Christianity teaching but i don't live and breathe it like everyone else will. I believe in trying to live with all things in life, still learning how to deal with negativity in the surrounding environment but also too i believe if you are involved in more

One of my grandmothers was a believer and a Christian to my knowledge -- at least, she did own some religious texts and a cross and so on (some of which now resides in this wholly non-religious home as nice token of her, though what we really associate her with was her love for elephants, having an enormous collection of such figures). My other (maternal) grandma wasn't one, reasoning that God wouldn't be so cruel if He did exist. I always could relate more to her. @Your_Old: I'm glad to see someone who's glad to see I share their opinion!

Your, I sing for a place called the Grace & Hope Mission here in Baltimore. The oldest sister there is Ms. Carlson at 93 years old. She has been with the mission since she was just 16. She is a Swede and immigrated here early but even after all this time, she knows her mother tongue.. She recited John 3:16 in Swedish. :)

Those deeply-held beliefs that are the reason you're getting behind the intolerant likes of Phil Robertson? I feel little obligation to respect them. If a person I like is religious (as two close friends are) I'll make an exception. Tends to show up only after getting to know people anyhow.

Lewis might actually have a point in his "there are no atheists" post that's worth thinking about, even if not the point he intended. It is likely that we all believe on some level, but that's a direct result of constantly having heard of this being throughout our lives (and the same would go for anything else we're being taught by society in our upbringing). Apart from being taught about religion directly you're taught -- and live by -- years numbered after Jesus, "God" comes up in any imagineable sentence even if just used as a figure of speech, etc.. And it may indeed be hard, if not impossible, to completely get rid of it. It's imprinted. It is possible that we have to make active use of logic, reason and a moral compass to stay away from to the dogma, the same way people who are bullied, discriminated against, or otherwise treated differently may feel insufficient throughout life and have to convince themselves they are of equal worth.

An atheist that says "God bless?" Kinda proves a point that atheists are a myth. Everyone knows of God, not everyone accepts His teaching. Everyone has a relationship with God, doesn't mean it's a good relationship. They're in denial. But they know... Yeah, I don't believe that Atheists exist. :) Seriously. They're just people who have lost faith or are angry at God. Atheism is an intellectual stance, nothing more.
